The game takes place after the events of Kingdom Hearts II and follows the story of Jiminy Cricket, King Mickey, Donald Duck and Goofy in Disney Castle. While organizing the records in Jiminy's journal from his travels with Sora and his friends, Jiminy Cricket's curiosity about the line "Thank Naminé" results in him finding a message that he did not write: "Their hurting will be mended when you return to end it." To investigate this message, King Mickey digitizes the contents of the journal and goes into the simulated world to investigate; awakening a virtual Data-Sora on the virtual Destiny Islands to carry out the contents of the journal to uncover the identity of those who are "hurting".

A list of relevant events: • Mickey, Donald, and Goofy get character development. • Maleficent remembers that the Book of Prophecies exists and begins her quest to find it with Pete. • Sora gains emotional strength vicariously through Data-Sora. (Probably.) • The main characters learn through Mickey why the journal was empty. • The main characters learn through Mickey that there are memories in Sora's heart that don't belong to him. • The main characters learn through Mickey that DiZ hid something inside Sora's heart. • Data-Sora thanks Data-Naminé. • We learn what was in the note in the bottle. ( 2:50:36 ) • We learn that people get re-completed when their Heartless and Nobody are killed. • We learn that Master Xehanort from _Birth by Sleep_ is back (and will be the main antagonist of Kingdom Hearts III.) • Dream Drop Distance gets set up at the end. • Everything in the 2:54:40 scene. I'm putting this here because I always forget how this game isn't completely irrelevant... just like everyone else, which means I keep having to re-watch this, which is something that I would rather not do.

Axel That's how it originally was. In the 1950s, Stirling Holloway voiced the Cheshire Cat and in the 70s, Pooh Bear. It makes sense that now, Jim Cummings voices all his old roles as almost all of them use pretty much the same voice, one that Jim imitates perfectly.

What I find an even wilder comparison is that Stirling Holloway also voiced Kaa the snake in the Jungle Book. And comparing that to Winnie the Pooh is even more odd to me lol

WOOOW! Something came to mind now. I saw this movie so many times, but I just realize this now. Sora forgetting everything in Castle Oblivion, but still feeling pain, a hole inside his heart. That's what Roxas feels like too, not remembering Xion, but feeling the pain of loss all the time.

Man, to think that I played this game so obsessively back in the day, to the point that defeating the superboss, getting all of the trophies, and getting the secret ending. All because this and 358/2 were the only Kingdom Hearts games I could afford at the time.

It didn't. :P These were completely made from scratch for this HD movie compilation. Barring a very small handful, most of these scenes were just dialogue box moments in the og game.

Sora’s necklace he always wears is smaller starting in Kingdom Hearts 3 than it was in Kingdom Hearts, Chain Of Memories, Kingdom Hearts 2 and Dream Drop Distance.

So I'm only 10 minutes in but... the journal that recorded the events of KH1 was wiped blank in Chain of Memories, and the words didn't return although Sora and co's memories did. Jiminy found a new message so Mickey had it analyzed, and Chip and Dale zapped it so the journal has been translated into computer data, and all the data has formed a digital version of the universe but it's corrupted so digital Sora has to fight through the entire game again so the data - which is the journal entries - can be restored. That's this game?

I am wondering why Jiminy couldn't just rewrite what happened base on what he remembered. We wouldn't have to go through any of this. If I find something missing, I just replace it.

Basically. A watered down rehash of kh 1 and partial COM...which was already a read of kh1 lol. This is a remake of a Japanese exclusive flip phone game. The ONLY reason this exists is becauae it added the most minor of new lore...what the letter and the end of KH2 said lol

Fun way to catch up I admit. Just wish they called it a movie when loading as I was waiting forever for gameplay until I quit lol. Still, all in one is a great collection. Do admit fighting depression/emotional hurt was different.

If you're here trying to catch up on the whole Kingdom Hearts story, do yourself a favor and just watch the first twenty minutes or so, then skip to around 2:40:00. There is literally NOTHING of relevance to the overarching plot happening in between, just more recycling of the same old worlds (seriously, if I have to see Agrabah one more time) and characters. I have no idea why this game even exists, it seems completely uninspired.

I’m a huge Kingdom Hearts fan, and I’m watching all the cutscenes to make sure I’m ready for KH3, but omg this game’s story is so bad. It is so slow, with such weird plot points and such little plot relevence. Only like last 10 minutes have any story impact (barely). And why do they use “hurt” as a noun???

In the universe of KH, data worlds are essentially on the same "reality" tier as regular worlds. They exist, they and their denizens have hearts, they can fall into sleep the same way, etc etc. We see this repeatedly, from the entire plot of this game to those of Space Paranoids (KH2) and The Grid (DDD), the data recreation of Twilight Town (KH2), and even to a lesser extent within the KHx saga. Data-Sora is basically his own character outright

RGA Roxas is Sora’s Nobody. The Journal’s Datascape revolved around Sora so it make sense that his Nobody would appear just like Sora’s Heartless.

No he didn’t. He started in like what birth by sleep? He did all this for 2.5 for 2014 where he had to dub a lot more than the initial cutscenes in the DS game. Even then it feels like he had to redub them.
