UPDATE: Three years later and I've got a pretty sloppy backhoe. Either the pins or bushings or both are shot in the lower joint. I always greased the backhoe before a digging job but this thing needs work already. I had a 1996 kioti and I bought a Woods brand backhoe for that one. I used that backhoe 15 years and had very little wear on the pins and bushings. Woods is a much better backhoe. If I had it to do over, I would NOT buy this backhoe.

Tim. Sorry to hear that you had this issue. I just bought this exact backhoe used, and it also has this issue. But for the price I bought it for, seems like replacing the lower joint pin is a good trade off. Pins are cheep. The backhoe that I bought has the wrong subframe. It was attached to a different brand tractor. I have an original Kioti subframe that is close to correct but a little short (about 6 inches). I would like to make this frame work by extending it but need some measurements. Could you possibly provide me with the measurements on the subframe next time you have it off of your tractor? Specifically, I am looking for the length of the long square rails on each side that sit directly under the tractor. They run from the front of the frame to the back. They are connected by bars that sit in the brackets coming off of the frame. If you need a more detailed photo of which specific rail I am talking about, I can provide it.

TimTools99 Nice video, im looking at a 2007 ck35 and i dont think i can beat the value of it. I have an 18hp JD 4010 and am looking for an upgrade! I have about 15acres of property to manage and feel like it would be a good fit. Thanks for the video!

Thank you, thank you THANK YOU! for this video!!! It was an amazing help to this lady tractor owner. My father passed and left a Kioti CK25 with a backhoe just like what you show here and my goodness, I had no idea how to hook it up, but Tim, you saved the day! After mowing the pastures with the brush hog, I made up my mind to learn how to attach the backhoe as I need to dig a trench for my propane lines for my new home generator - I DID IT!!! All because of THIS video!!! Thanks SO much TimTools99!!! Huge help!

Very well done and informative. Thank you for the plain talk and clear communication without unnecessary "fluff". I was just looking at a Kioti CK 4010 SE HST with backhoe and loader a couple hours ago at a local dealer. Your three year assessment of the backhoe is quite telling, as is the information regarding the hydrostatic transmission. Thanks.

I have 100hrs on the tractor now. It definitely has good points and bad. The good: starts really easy. runs good. with the ag tires it is less tippy than my old kioti. If you get a tractor with HydroDrive ... get one 10 hp bigger than you are used to. My old Kioti 30hp gear drive will work circles around this new CK35. I like the Hydro for Loader work and in general it is very convenient. NOW THE BAD: does not have the power for pulling or lifting on loader or digging with the backhoe that my old 1996 30hp GEAR drive tractor had. I think it is due to the HST drive. That takes a lot of power to run. Because I must run the CK35 at a high RPM to satisfy the HST and Hydraulics ... it is NOT as fuel efficient as my old Kioti tractor. It is a give and take. If you think you want the HST then be prepared for this.

Tim Mead They make a gear drive (if the HST is the issue). I don’t think he was saying that the old one was better, just that (perhaps) going to an HST might lead to less power for the hydraulics. Given what was said in the video and what little I know about hydraulics; there may just have been a decision to trade away some power for more speed. I.e. Smaller diameter cylinders. ? Let me know what ya think/know that I am missing.

Need to look on my tractor to see if I have the similar brackets as you do to accomodate the backhoe subframe. Well done on the Video just subbed. Take care

Nice review. My folks have the same tractor and backhoe. But our backhoe must be an earlier model because I have to remove the three point arms to put it on. It's my least favorite job out there changing them over. It must also be my parents least favorite job because they always leave it for me too do even if it means putting off a digging task 3 or months till I get out there to do again. My observations about the power loss through the HST match yours. yes 10hp more to cover loss.

I have a B7510 Kubota with a 6 foot Woods backhoe. Have pulled many hardwood stumps to 15 in diameter. Just need to be patient. Start about 15 inches out where roots will break off. Can use the aide of a saws all. Dig all around then rock the stump to loosen underside roots and dirt. Then pull horizontally using root as a leaver. Do this a few times then roll up out of hole. My machine is a 21 hp so lifting the stump out is a challange. Some are easy at 2 hours and a 2 foot is all day.Good review of Kioti.

Yeah... good for you. Just be careful with the loader. It is kind of rinkie-dink. As long as you don't use it like a bulldozer you should be okay. Also, keep your weight in the bucket so that it puts stress on both loader arms evenly. In other words, don't load a ton of shit on one side of the bucket ... you could bend the friggin loader arm.

Excellent video ! I looked at a 2004 DK35 backhoe last week and drove and dug with it a little and noticed some slop where the hoe pivots near its base and when I checked for excess play both left and right and up and down I mentioned to the owner that he had play in it and he said that's the way it was when he bought it. It only has 342 hours on it and mostly for snow removal so little backhoe use. I walked away scratching my head how something with so low hours could have so much wear... I'm a Kioti guy so I'll be buying a DK or NX soon but I do have some concern on this issue... Thanks for the video.

Dominick DeFlorio Thanks. I bought the Kioti because it was so much cheaper than that most other tractors and the dealer is only a few miles away. If you are thinking about this machine, I suggest actually testing several others (John Deere, Kubota, Mahindra etc.) Now that I have had the new Kioti for a while, I realize that all Kioti tractors are not created equal. My 1996 Kioti was a much better machine.

you should try to move the boom toward you while digging, just curling the bucket hold the dirt against the boom and it falls on the pins. not that it will break something but its dirty and the paint will come off ;)

You are rite about every hoe is different and learning the engine speed. Once you hit your tractors max Hydro flow which in my Massey is around 1600rpms you have full power. Anything after than only speeds up the movement. I run mine at 2000. Its the perfect rpm for control and speed. Man a backhoe is nice to have around. I love um. I beg to dig up my neighbors stumps for them. Haha
@TimTools99
@TimTools99 7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking in Mattsbrute. Yes, they are pretty handy for sure. I have found that about 1600rpm is about right for this tractor. You are right ... any faster and you just move faster and with this one it can be jerky.

Tim, enjoy your informative videos. I have a DK45SE with shuttle. I’ve been looking for a good backhoe. I’m leaning towards a used one because of a limited budget. It sounds like a Woods is your recommendation. Do they also have the under chassis frame that can connect to my tractor? Any idea what a fair price would be on a used one? A second question about backhoes is for a neighbor who has a Branson 78hp. What backhoe would be a good match for it?
@TimTools99
@TimTools99 6 жыл бұрын
Hello Dennis. Woods brand is the only other backhoe i ever had and i liked it better than the Kioti hoe. Woods makes a subframe to fit many tractors. You have to have the subframe and that was arounf $500 if i remember correctly. When buying used, i always shoot for half of the price of a new one. Its hard to find used ones and then you would have to find out if they make a subframe for that hoe for your tractor. As far as the Branson 78hp ... I would go to a dealer and ask them. The problem is getting a subframe but the dealer would be able to look all that up. Go to several dealers. You can learn a lot this way. P.S. Somebody told me that Woods makes backhoes for Kioti now. Dont know if true.

Depends if it is a shallow rooted tree like a spruce or other pine tree or a hardwood tree stump. I have dug and pulled several pine tree stumps but if it is a hardwood tree with deep roots, forget it and call the stump-grinder man.

Yes, TimTools99, I found the same things with my Back Hoe attachment on my CK20S HST Tractor. This would dig at almost idle RPM where a major competitor had to have much higher revs to have similar amount of breakout force. Well, all Tractors ARE different as you've said. They all have their plus and minus points about them, I just happen to like the features that my Kioti has, more than others, this is why I bought Kioti.

Yes Reg, it's a pretty good little tractor but I liked my woods backhoe on my old tractor better. The controls on my Kioti Backhoe are second rate. I have had to take them apart twice now and tighten things up.

@regsparkes6507 7 жыл бұрын
You know Tim, come to think about it, I had to tighten up my Backhoe's levers too. I used lock tite on the threads and no complaints yet. But to each his own, hey ? Now bear in mind too, that mine is a 'toy' and I only use it to do little jobs for neighbors and snow clearing too. In other words I don't give mine all day work, it's just that so far, no problems and it was considerably less cost for me to buy that the next best competitor.
@TimTools99

I agree Reg. The tractor was less expensive than the others. My Kioti dealer is only 5 miles away so that's another reason I went with the Kioti. I'm gonna try the lock tite next time on my levers. Thanks for the tip.

I want to buy a tractor and backhoe and I'm trying to get as much info about them. Pricey buggers tractors are. I only have 4 acres and I own a rental property in town. Would love to have something like this to make life easier and get more done. I keep getting told I don't need a large tractor to get what I need done but I feel like a 30 hp tractor is a good fit. My knowledgeable person that's helping tends to direct me (probably rightfully so) toward a ck20 kioti rather than b7800 kubota or max28xl Mahindra or 1533 shuttle Mahindra. The 1533 has more lift more backhoe but is on the larger side and 35 hp. Perhaps I don't need that much... Ck20 seems doable but I can't get out of my mind going a little larger. At what point does the size of the tractor become a nuisance for tight areas and if I went ck20 how quickly would I be regretting not getting something bigger? I know this is off topic and long just figured I'd ask some ppl in the tractor world their thoughts.

30-35 hp is a nice size. Big enough to do some serious work and small enough to get around tight areas. Any smaller and I think you have a toy. Not good for much other than a motorized wheel barrow. I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. If you are getting hydro model then get 10hp more than you are thinking. The hydro steals alot of power. I wish I would have gotten a 40hp instead of 35. Another thing. Don’t get the Kioti backhoe. Tractor is good but Kioti implements are junk. I had a Woods backhoe on my last tractor. Much better. Good luck have fun.

I am currently working with a dealer to purchase a ck3510se. I own a 2025r John Deere. Would you recommend this tractor or purchase it again? I have looked at 5 different brands. This seems to be the best bang for my buck.
@TimTools99
@TimTools99 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, it is the cheapest of the small tractors. Its a good running tractor but i have issues with kioti implements. I would NOT recommend their backhoe. Also, their loaders are junk. I had a 1996 30hp kioti and i put a Woods brand backhoe on that one. That was a good backhoe. Also, if you get the hydro model, buy a tractor at least 10hp bigger than what you think you need. The hydrostatic drive steals a lot of power. On this tractor, the loader will not lift a full bucket of dirt until i back up first. I could dive into a pile of dirt with my old kioti and rip that bucket right up. Not this new kioti. Dont know if it is the hydro stealing power or a weak pump. Like i said, its a good running tractor but i don't like kioti implements.

+TimTools99 Sorry Tim, I was comparing apples to oranges. I did more research and found that the ones I was comparing to were 3pt hoes as opposed to the sub-frame mount. I am going out today to look at another frame mount, IF he has one in stock.

you don't need your sub frame as long as you have your 3point hook up in working order that's all you need

what is the point of even having it on the BH? Extra options?

When I bought my first tractor/backhoe in 1996, I hooked the backhoe up to the 3-point as you say. Found out that it was a real bad idea. Damned near tore the ass-end out of my tractor! The backhoe does a lot of twisting and pounding etc while you are digging so you definitely want a sub-frame. The sub-frame is held securely to the tractor midway up and in the back so the backhoe can pound away and twist all it wants and the entire tractor absorbs the punishment ... not just the three point hitch.

If you do not use a sub-frame, you will tear the top link of your three point hitch right off the tractor. The backhoe will twist and sway and pick up the back of your tractor as you work. It deals out a lot of punishment that the 3 point hitch was not meant to absorb. I hooked up my first backhoe to the 3-pt hitch on my old tractor and I could see that it was going to damage my tractor running it that way. There is a reason they make sub-frames. The provide a solid platform for the backhoe and spread all that abuse out rather than pounding the hell out of your 3 pt hitch.

You sound like you have regrets about the Kioti. I am close to buying a Kioti CK4010 hst with backhoe and loader. I am also considering a Kubota 3901 but it is about $4000.00 more than the Kioti. Which one would you get if you were buying now? Are there any other brands that you like?

Nice tractor. I'd switch the dry-locks on the hydraulic ports so you have staggered gender. Just doing my research before I upgrade my Kubota.

sir, looks like you are missing the metal pads that bolt to the downrigger feet. I see the bolt holes like mine.

Yeah, I figured that was BS. I should have questioned it when I saw the backhoe but I didn't think about it. Shoulda-coulda-woulda.

The Kubota set up is much better for attaching the backhoe. I've thought about getting a tractor with a proper loader/backhoe set up but I don't really like how this connects.

I did not check out the Kabota's backhoe mounting because right off the bat I did NOT like Kabota's loader control. The control is in the way of getting on or off the tractor from the right side. That simple issue alone disqualified the Kabota. Also, the Kabota was $7000 more than this tractor.
