I made a mistake in the video 🤦. I cut 1/4 yard or 9".

Thank you for encouraging and understanding that everyone "I" can't sew but we "I" really want too learn. I subscribe and will be going to watching this video a few times and a I try this project. These would be a great thing to have as I really can and do alot of cooking and always looking for my towels.

Thank you for showing us crafters what it looks like on you but we don’t know how far it went down

It hangs down so the towels are by your waist.

Good for you for showing even experienced sewers can goof up. Teaching a friend how to sew using her new machine--told her she'd need new fabric-only scissors and, more importantly, her first seam ripper. Told her it was a must because she WILL USE IT. She kinda thought I was kidding.

Tell her that seam ripper will become her best friend in no time ❤️

I am a beginner.....I know how to make scrunchies, doggy bandanas, and facemasks. I want to learn how to do something with kitchen towels and a friend gave me this link to your video. Your instructions seem easy enough to follow, so I might just give this a try......or a variation (I'm a crafter so I'm always seeing other possibilities). Thank you for this video 😊

@@LifePrepared Thank you 💗 My husband bought me a wonderful amazing sewing machine a few years ago and I have barely used it. He died earlier this year and I still want to make him proud by learning how to sew things, even if they are simple. My husband would have LOVED this "kitchen boa".....he always had the kitchen towel over his shoulder. I am wanting to make Christmas presents for a couple of our kids and thought the towel things might be right up my alley, however when at Dollar Tree I only bought one towel and a little roll of fabric and don't even know how much fabric it is. So depending on how fabric is there, I might try to create a variartion of this. Hopefully it works out 😊

You may have purchased a "fat quarter" which measures 18" x 21". If you cut it in half to measure 9"x21", you can sew the short ends together to make the piece you need. Sorry about your husband ❤️. I lost mine in 2009. We would have had our 40th anniversary this year.

I just started making these. I found if you turn the ends in before you sew the long sides it's a lot easier. Nice video.

This video was in my recommendations feed and I love it. My grandma used to be such a awesome seamstress but her arthritis and health has prevented her from being able to sew for several years now. She taught me a few things but sometimes I wish I would've taken a interest to sewing sooner so she could've taught me more. I haven't made anything in a while but before the big C hit I was sewing quite a bit and she would always be so happy to hear about what I was working on and see how it turned out. Gonna have to make one of these and tell her about it 😂💙

Such a simple, practical idea. Wonderful encouraging instructions too. Another project for me in Winter. I'm sure many of my friends would appreciate one of these as well. I have never seen the towels as a boa before. Kitchen Diva indeed!

Do you prewash your towels?
@LifePrepared2 жыл бұрын
Good question. It depends on the towels. Some have a funny smell or are stiff. Those I prewash before cutting in half.

I've always said that sewing is really mostly ironing.
@LifePrepared4 жыл бұрын
Very true!
@shelwhitley10114 жыл бұрын
If someone is opposed to a little simple pressing, they're not cut out for Sewing anyway... IMO. It's a detail oriented craft...just one more detail!
@dianageer20223 жыл бұрын
9" is 1/4 of a yard not 1/3, right?
@LifePrepared3 жыл бұрын
You are correct as 36/4=9
@lindagillespie65564 жыл бұрын
Oh goodness is your mat going to warp from pressing on it with the hot iron😱
@LifePrepared4 жыл бұрын
You may not be able to tell but the pressing mat is really thick and reversible with a cutting mat under it. NO heat can get through to the bottom mat. It is a June Taylor reversible cutting and ironing mat.
@shirleyblank29202 жыл бұрын
i cut 1/3 of a yard??? that cant be right??? 1/3 of a yard is 12 inches x 9 inches???
@LifePrepared2 жыл бұрын
Yes I am sorry. Not sure what I was thinking. I used 1/4 yard or 9".
@sherrieley55064 жыл бұрын
its 1/4 of a yard not 1/3 of a yard
@LifePrepared4 жыл бұрын
Yes, depends how wide you want it.
@mamaDi10003 жыл бұрын
Thank you - 9” wide is not 1/3 yard!
@LifePrepared3 жыл бұрын
Good catch
@patlindblad8042 жыл бұрын
You stated fabric is 9 inches or 1/3 of a yard. That would be 12 inches as 9 inches is 1/4 of a yard.
@LifePrepared2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I corrected it in my comments. Sorry💗
