i think it's also helpful to mention for new or prospective drivers: 1. it's twist and go, no gears, no shifting, etc. power output is also strong enough to take you anywhere and keep up with the urban traffic but also weak enough not to startle new drivers. 2. if you've ever driven a bicycle, you can drive this thing. it feels a lot like a powered bicycle, only you're sitting on a chair (and feels far sturdier). 3. engine is time tested and proven technology, parts are relatively cheap, and so servicing is much cheaper compared to a car. 4. rain pants DO fit well under the seat, removing the fear of being wet. these can also double as a windbreak in cold weather.

Took mine on some very hilly Wairarapa roads a few days back and it did 40 km/h up every hill.

Agree with your fuel mileage estimate - did a 90 km run and it still has over half a tank left.

That's a bad azz little cycle. I had a 2007 DRZ 400 S and it was a bad bike as well. I knew it was a 4 stroke butt up till then I didn't realize that they 2 strikes were just about a thing of the past. But it was strange going from when I was a kid on those old 2 strokes. The way they would wind up and go off the line.. Was strange the way the 4 stroke kind of even seemed to bog out but I would look behind me and it was tearing things up. Anyway, I'm interested in these little bikes cuz I live in Cali and the weather is nice all the time. So that's 80mpg. That's crazy.

Hey mate, you wouldn't happen to know how to replace a piston ring or a valve seal? My UZ has been burning through oil like no tomorrow. So I've done a bit of searching and these two things seem to be the most common problems (Note: no oil is leaking, so I assume it's burning). I'm pretty keen to learn to do it myself, but I don't have an owners manual, so not too sure where to start.
