747 probably one of the most beautiful aircraft ever..gracefull

To me personaly B747 always stays "Queen Of the Sky" despite A380 is bigger and newer.I just love this aircraft,its just so beautiful^^

I had the privilege of seeing up close, Being clinging to the fence and feeling all this emotion. 747, SXM will miss you.

The 747-400 is starting to close it's chapters as many airlines are stopping routes, and stopping production on the 747-400. You Will Be Missed, Queen of The Sky!

747 can be phased out but can never be replaced.

Very crowded on Maho Beach, but for a good reason. I've seen the 747 a few times in SXM, and it will certainly be missed in future visits.

This is not the final flight for KLM's 747-400 or others still in service today. It's just for this particular route from Amsterdam. it is no longer economical for KLM to fly the 747-400 for this route. that being said, it will be missed at St. Martin. It was literally one of the biggest attractions there.

I've been very lucky to witness about a dozen landings and takeoffs of KLM 747-400's over the years when I've been vacationing on the island.....it has always been a 'must do' item for me. Standing on the beach, right under the landing path and seeing that huge aircraft on a low approach and roaring right overhead, is just an incredible rush of adrenaline that never gets old for me. I'll be heading back to SXM early next year and will get my first taste of seeing KLM's A330's arriving and departing. Now, the largest aircraft to fly to SXM are Air France's A340's. Yes, they are impressive in their own right, but definitely not to the degree of a Boeing 747.

Great turnout for the final departure! I was there on Oct 23, 2016 for the final Sunday departure and what a thrill it was getting blasted by a 747!!

I cried. It was a dream of mine to see a landing like this and be right there..

They just started flying 747s (shipping only) into my local airport and i finally saw one of the flights the other day. such a beautiful aircraft!!

747 big and so beautiful. Amazing landing and absolutely fantastic take off, incredibly graceful..... It just looked so effortless..... True queen of the skies.

From 13 to 17 in the late 80's I actually made my mom specifically book my fares to the UK for school on BA just so I could fly on these!! I'm very proud to say as a youth I had about 24 747 flights and I enjoyed every one,it's the only plane I flew in and felt connected to the performance etc,the different sounds,not like in others where you just sit and pray to reach in one piece to your destination with the mandatory plane noises and movements,great experience,you feel like your'e part of a great time and achievement in aviation history , I feel very privileged to have experienced this and know I was worthy because what's a small island preteen to teen knows about the majesty of 747s!!?? Hey I'm just attracted to greatness,to my detriment at times,not those times though,they were Greatt!! And I made certain to get my mandatory cockpit and upper-deck visit as a BA 'Young Flyer' Lol..Don;t know what evil begot my complimentary plastic 747 models and colouring book from my earlier trips,I would not be seen dead with them after I turned into a 747 'elite' traveler..My other special aircraft moments were BWIA Tristar 500 before the 747s and BA777 after the 747s. The multi modified out 737s just not the same,lol.. I'm certain this bird would be sorely missed in St Maarten,in Trinidad where I'm from we only see maybe 1 or 2 747 freighters a couple times a week,despite them being freighters that unique unmistakable and elegant monococque always sets in the nostalgia.
