Plain spotting at Saint Martin - The most interesting, craziest and breathtaking plane spotting SXM airport all over the world.
This video shows a wide variety of very interesting
AF A340 landings of flight 498 from Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG) to Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) at Saint Martin.
At the beach are a lot of Bikini girls, whitch enjoy start and arrival of low landing planes
and the use the possibility, to take great and unique pictures - like in my thumbnail.
This video was recorded from:
- ALEGRIA Hotel, Platform at 5th floor
- Maho Beach
- Platform at Sunset Bar
- Middle of runway, direction Simpson Beach
I recorded this video during my stay at this wonderful island for plane spotting at St. Maarten / Saint Marten / Sint Maartin close to cruise port Philipsburg, from where you can do a unique and unforgettable tour.

Awesome video man! That airport is amazingly great spotting planes!. What budget airlines to fly from UK/Euro to there? I can spend all weeks apotting there. Is there a YHA hostel near the airport?

Danke, Der Spot in Düsseldorf für RWY 05 rechts und links ist auf einem Erdwall zwischen der B8 und dem Zaun. Das gute ist, durch den Wall filmt man über den Zaun. Viel Erfold und LG HvdH

Stimmt. Aber man fährt besser mit dem Auto nach Lohausen in die "Alte Flughafenstrasse" bis zum Ende dann über die Fußgängerbrücke und dann immer am Zaun entlang. Da ist das Parken auch kostenlos.

Maho Beach shot has the extra benefit (distraction? annoyance?) of Miss Camel Toe Spreader but it was nice to realise that her husband has that look on his face like, "Well, it made her happy. Maybe I'll show her my Airbus tonight!"

+robiotube In total we used 4 cameras. The overhead landing was recorded with a GoPro Hero 4. Records from the platform in the beginning with tripod was a Panasonic 757 and 727. All other records free handed with a Sony Cybershot DSC-HX90. BR HvdH

do you think an a380 could land there or woud it be to big. im asking because a 747 can land there and its almost as big as a a380

A B747 can land with nearly empty fuel tanks. But it can't start with full fuel tanks, therefor it starts with small filled tanks first to Curacao, landed there and filled the tanks full and then fly back to Amsterdam. The runway at SXM is only 2.3 km long and I think the A380 with nearly empty tanks can land there, because it has much bigger wings as the B747 and for the take-off it has the stronger engines. A good example is Düsseldorf in Germany. The runway is 3 km long and a heavy B747 can't land and start there but the A380 can.

Olá.. Gosto de aviação, mas não sou tão apaixonado como o pessoal deste site, porém me preocupo bastante com a segurança nas aeronaves. Por isso, gostaria de propor um forum de discursão sobre soluções de segurança de aeronaves. Tenho um projeto de carater humanitário que visa diminuir os acidentes aeroviários. Penso que uma das soluções será criar aeronaves com alto poder de sustentação, com asas no sentido longetudinal (rente a longarina do avião) aposentando de vez as asas que são utilizadas atualmente. As novas asas funcionarão com várias seguimentações, que funcionarão por ondas de pressão geradas no duto (interno às longarinas) aproveitando a grande permissibilidade do ar que pode ser comprimido e expandido de forma magnífica, tomando a forma de uma senóide interna ao duto, cujo formato deverá favorecer espetacularmente a pressão de baixo para cima, criando então um grande efeito asa, inverso ao usado na fórmula 1. Creio que será uma solução perfeita para o problema de acidentes aéreos que a todos nós nos faz sofrer, pois é doloroso para qualquer um, independente de ter sido vítima ou não. Gostaria de participar este projeto com algum engenheiro que tem competência nesta área da aeronautica. Caso possam me auxiliar neste intento, ficarei grato, obrigado a todos. On 21 December 1972, a De Havilland Canada Twin Otter operated by Air Guadeloupe on behalf of Air France crashed at night into the ocean near Sint Maarten, en route from Guadeloupe; all 11 passengers on board, along with both pilots, died. On 30 October 2014, Skyway Enterprises Flight 7101, a Shorts SD-360 on behalf of FedEx, registration N380MQ performing flight SKZ-7101 from Sint Maarten (Dutch Caribbean) to San Juan (Puerto Rico) with 2 crew, was climbing out of Sint Maarten's runway 28 when the aircraft lost height and impacted waters about 2 nautical miles (3.7 km; 2.3 mi) off the coast (end of the runway) at about 18:35L (22:35Z).
