I bought the same stove you have last year. I only used the stove 2x , and then cleaned and put it away in shed. Couple weeks ago , I took the stove out to get ready for a camping symposium gathering, and saw the stove covered in rust, Witch is no big deal. Looking at a traditional camping group on facebook. I saw a way to maintain my stove to prevent rust. The Gentlemen cleaned the stove and sprayed it with a high temp paint that is used for BBQ grills and wood burning stoves. Need to be careful on witch High temp paint to buy, Some will combust with direct flame. To spray the outside of the stove didn't take more then an hour and it was mostly letting the paint to dry. Happy Camping

I have a kni-co Alaskan for my arctic bell tent, the stove has lasted 8 years now and is still going good. Only mod I have had to make is some light weight fire bricks to prevent the stove from burning through and I had to remove the spark arrester due to it clogging with creosote alot. They're great stoves.
@Snowalker135 жыл бұрын
I have a false bottom for it now that would relieve you of the brick, and a wire brush to the arrester after each trip could delay build up, just my thought

Wow, do you already have snow this year or was this filmed last year? Even in NY, October is early for snow.

what was the benefit of reversing the pipe tapper? or did I miss you discuss that? hope all is well ~Michael
@Snowalker135 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike I honestly don't know, I never thought to ask. So now I will! Hanging in bro you?
@RandomButtonPusher5 жыл бұрын
So what is the rationale to have the pipe diameter flare reversed from the original specs? Is it less likely to build up creosote for example?
@Snowalker135 жыл бұрын
I dont know actually, I am gonna research it though

Welcome to the dark side, lol. I love a nice hot tent in the winter.

No doubt bro, I shot this last year so it's been painted and ready to rock

I hope to see some hot tenting videos from you this winter. I just order some metal to make a false bottom for mine. If you remember we have the same stove mine being the Alaskan model. I really like the stove and with a false bottom I won't have to lug in sand anymore.
@Snowalker135 жыл бұрын
I will do my best, I am planning a trek in the ADKs as we speak
@roadrunner44045 жыл бұрын
The sand is a good idea but the false bottom is even better. Is it steel or Stainless?
