A well made knife with one major design flaw. However, I assume some will not see this as a major factor. You be the judge.

Great Video! I noticed at around the 10:40 mark, it looked like there are brass washers in-between the blade & liners.

100%. I really needed to point this out. I'm not sure why they decided to fix a problem that doesn't exist. Traditional slip joints do not need a washer as the liners are the washers. If they insisted on using a washer, then they should cut out the liner and make a recess into the handle and seat the washer deeper into the handle. As it is, the knife just has an extra washer. This may lessen the chance of blade rub but it would seem, over time, it would just be one more thing that could lead to blade wobble.

@KnifeChatswithTobias I don't see any washers in my Capitol Intern but it's still quite thick. The fit/finish though are impressive, especially for the price.

I am a huge fan of little knives, but the tiny toothpick is one I’ve always had a problem with. In truth it’s my dodgy hand that caused the problem. Unlike, say A Butterbean, the rounded profile makes it very difficult for me to open. This one looks like it might be better for me, so I’ll have to have a lookout for one if they come this side of the pond.

This could very well be helpful. If a person is looking for something a little beefier, this could do it. Hopefully, I've made it clear that I have some bias toward the thickness of the knife.

The tiny toothpick isn't a pattern that I carry alot, I've only got one in my collection. But this version with the thicker handle looks pretty neat. Thanks for showing it off, buddy!

I like it! It looks heavy duty compared to my RR, Buck and Hammer tiny toothpicks. Definitely going to get this! Thanks!

As you said a bit on the thick side, but the knife looks really nice specially when viewing it from either side, thanks for the review, Tobias.

Thickness aside, it looks like a well-built knife. I may have to accidentally add it to my accidental tiny toothpick collection.

Yep. If you have an accidental tiny toothpick collection this one is definitely something that should be included. Accidentally, of course.

I have a Rough Ryder Capitol Intern, and while it's a very nicely made and a very attractive knife, it's also quite wide/thick, like this toothpick. I guess some people prefer a chunkier knife.
@KnifeChatswithTobias

Yeah, I'm not sure why they came up with the concept of adding washers to a traditional slip joint. They're fixing a problem that doesn't exist. The liners are the washers.

It also feels thick in the hand. I think Slick Slicers does have a point, however. If a person has dexterity issues, the thicker handles will make it easier to hold

I just bought my first knife with a serrated edge. I thought I would not like them so it took a long time to get the first one. Have you ever made a video talking about your thoughts on serrated vs straight cut edge? I would be interested to know what your experiences are. Thanks. (PS) I like the serrated edge a lot. It is a Grohmann lockback. small and light.
@KnifeChatswithTobias
@KnifeChatswithTobias 27 күн бұрын
I don't believe I have done a video specifically on the topic but I'm sure I have discussed it on my videos on bait knives and/or marlin spike knives. I also talked about serrations on my steak knife video. Serrations have their place and in some circumstances they excel. This is especially true when cutting rope also when cutting through hard materials. Also the serrated steak knife or paring protects the blade sharpness by keeping the cutting edge from contacting the hard plate on the opposite side of the item being cut. There are quite a few areas where the serrated blade excels. The negative side if they are hard to sharpen. On the plus side, a dull serrated knife will cut better than a dull fine edge knife.

Rough Ryder knives are very high quality build for the money. I think their quality control is better than Case. Infact, most of Rough Ryder knives are better than the over priced Case knives. And I agree. Why make a tiny knife but make it thick? It would be less pocketable.
@KnifeChatswithTobias
@KnifeChatswithTobias 29 күн бұрын
What does this knife have to do with case knives? Are you just on a crusade to spread hate for Case Knives? I don’t get it.
@GlockNinja
@GlockNinja 29 күн бұрын
@@KnifeChatswithTobias not at all. Just pointing out Rough Ryder quality and value. My criticism of Case is more of a demand for Case to do better. I haven't owned a Case knife in almost 30 years and I recently got one and it came with a blemish. Also from memory, I have never known Case knives to be very sharp knives from the factory. But then again, almost all mass produced knives are not that sharp. The only mass produced knives I have known to come very sharp are Spyderco
@KnifeChatswithTobias
@KnifeChatswithTobias 28 күн бұрын
@@GlockNinja, so let me get this straight… your criticism of Case is based on a sample pool of one knife that you bought in the last 30 years that had a blemish and wasn’t as sharp as a Spyderco? And for that reason you felt a need to point it out because this video is talking about a Rough Ryder Toothpick? And somehow you think this is going to get Case to do a better job with their QC?
@GlockNinja
@GlockNinja 28 күн бұрын
@@KnifeChatswithTobias yes. When you pay $50 to $100 for a pocket knife that shouldn't cost more than $30, the least they can do is have somebody inspect the knife before it leaves the factory.
@KnifeChatswithTobias

@@GlockNinja, I didn’t realize Maury Paup would paid that much attention to my channel. Now I’m sure Case QC will improve thanks to your comment. I’ll have another Rough Ryder Video in a couple days. Looking forward to your next Case/Rough Ryder comparison .
