@@ChuckHorneTheLizardRoom thank you! We have since made a planted habitat with many perches and plants and are getting closer to being able to keep a more stable humidity and temp. She’s moving around and seems ok. We can’t get her to eat from us (baby cricket in tweezers) as she’s too afraid but I think she may be eating the ones that we released into the habitat. I know that isn’t idea but I think right not it’s the only way she will eat. We have small gut loaded crickets. Is there anything else that we could offer her to help her be more likely to eat? Or just trust she’s eating? We are fully dedicated to giving her the best life possible and my daughter is confident she came to her as an answer to her prayers for a pet. (You can’t get any better than a lizard literally showing up out of nowhere in your bedroom as an answer! 😂) Thank you so much for all that you provide in terms of resources. It is truly a blessing.

I see it’s been 5 months, how’s the Anole doing and eating now?

@@ap8441 thanks for asking. Unfortunately at day 7 she died. We were devastated, we’d worked so hard to do everything right. It’s crazy how much you can love something so tiny so quickly. A few weeks later we saw a healthy anole at a pet store and realized just what awful shape she was in when we found her. We didn’t have anything much to compare her to so we thought she looked good. I think there was just too much damage done before we discovered her.

Thanks for the kind words and sorry for the delayed response! I haven't been engaged with KZfaq lately but am trying to get back at it. I still have all my critters and a bunch of knights, so they'll feature prominently as usual!

So I am not really sure what special needs they have to encourage them to breed, I just keep my male and female together and in spring I increase their temperature a little and spray them down a little more, and then let nature take over. I will try to make more videos of them.

I take them out as soon as I find them. I offer small crickets within a couple of days.

I also almost hatched a baby knight anole a few weeks ago but it sadly died before it got out! I waited 50 days and the humidity and temps were perfect. Any suggestions? They can go as long as 60 days, so be patient! As long as it looks good, not moldy or smelly, just keep it cooking! I've made the mistake of not waiting and cutting and ended up killing the almost perfectly formed hatchling. Good luck!

Umm, well you'll definitely need a compatible pair at least, 1 male and 1 female. Only 1 male per enclosure as they are very territorial and keep an eye on multiple females, they can sometimes be territorial as well.

They can be pretty resilient. If it's still white and holding shape, you should be fine. If it goes discolored (yellowish), dents badly or becomes moldy, it's probably bad.

Yes, females will lay infertile eggs.

If you click that link you’ll see that one is like dark and the other goes from yellow to green and both have the throat thing and look similar in color and I was told only males have the pink throat but both have it and I have eggs being laid

Hi Kat, sorry for the delay in responding! Yes, females will lay infertile eggs without a male present. Male knight anoles get larger, have larger heads and pronounced hemi-penal bulges at the base of their tales when sexually mature. Both sexes have big dewlaps, so that is not an indicator. Hope that helps!

Thanks for watching and commenting! I'm not aware of any documented cases of parthenogenesis in knight anoles, so I would say fertilization by a male is needed. Incubation will take between 45-60 days at about 84f and the incubation media should be damp, not soaking wet. A 1 to 1 ratio of water to vermiculite by weight (not volume) is one way to ensure appropriate incubation humidity.

In theory? If they are compatible and both healthy, than yes I would suspect they'd let nature take it's course. However, I've had females reject males and vice versa, so it's really just crossing your fingers you get a compatible pair.

Is she by herself? Typically they'll lay every 7-10 days or so, but if these are just infertile slugs, that might explain the delay. Also, they are masters at hiding the eggs, even in dedicated nest boxes they can be easily over looked.

Chuck Horne she is by herself and the egg that she layed a month ago was a slug she’s been in the dirt container a few times but I haven’t seen her Lay any more I don’t know if I should check the dirt what do you think

They're pretty resilient, as long as you get him warmed up as soon as you can, you should be okay. Keep him out of drafts and maybe use your body heat (or a passenger) to warm him up. Good luck!

Chuck Horne yea she’s still alive but thin. Won’t eat the Romain lettuce but I soak her in water to keep hydrated, is there a way to make her eat I’m worried about waking up to something upsetting
