I have been there in 2006 - but I wasn't on the official area of the exhibition but on the other side of the airport, where the pilots go to do their turns to go back to the main display area as it isn't allowed at german airshows to do maneuvers flying in direction of the crowd after the Ramstein accident. So I was standing right under the MIG when the pilot did all the - at this time in 2006 - new post stall maneuvers. And I couldn't believe what I saw happening there right above me. I have a pilots license myself but this was never just expectable to "fly" an aircraft just like that. There were the SU's a year later bringing the OVT technic in series but as there was no KZfaq at these days were you could just watch a video of this before it was absolutely new for all of us. And when I now see this I feel the same adrenalin rushing in me as I did 16 years ago. It is just amazing! It's like a ballet in the skies! It's pure arts!

The F16 and F20 being the exception, the MIG29 is the most beautiful fighter jet to take to the skies. The maneuvers displayed in this video only amplify how incredible this aircraft truly is and so too are the people and pilots that bring this engineering marvel to life.

That had to be the most beautiful jet I’ve ever seen. From the paint job to the performance there is nothing that is not top notch. Just an American with a lust for Russian aircraft.

When you think about how impressive these manouvers are, remember all the g-forces the pilot has to conquer at the same time. It's an intense workout up there just battling the g-forces. Pretty insane.

3:45 😱😱😱😱 OMG!!!???? That double back somersault manoeuvre was just unimaginable unspeakable. What kind of pilot would ever have the techniques to perform like that on a fighter jet. That must be an extremely risky and challenging manoeuvre to perform. I say whoever was piloting that MIG-29M could actually best the F22 Raptor. It has a faster back somersault rate than the F22 and can indeed perform the legendary Purgachev’s Cobra manoeuvre. This Russian pilot would actually be nearly impossible to defeat by any other fighter aircraft if this guy took to aerial combat.

Wish they wouldn’t take off like that...it goes against my 72yrs past when going vertical was incredible and now they let it fall out of the sky! But then they used to say that aerodynamically it’s impossible for a bumblebee to fly. Well it does! And this aircraft defies all I thought I knew and does it beautifully.

One does not have to think very long nor hard about the importance of being able to get quickly off of the ground and immediately into an offensive position and into a battle. There are hundreds of examples of sneak attacks that rendered air forces nearly useless within matters of minutes. This aircraft and pilot is a perfect example of being prepared for a worst case scenario.

The Russian equipment is also very robust, and easy to maintain. They are all also able to operate off grass fields and temporary rough air strips. I think they would make a much harder foe than many would give them credit for. In any long drawn out conflict, having very high tech, sophisticated, sensitive, high maintenance costly equipment becomes a substantial handicap.
