Learn how to make Knishes! These amazing carb-bombs are usually filled with potatoes and onions, but we’re adding in some corned beef and cabbage for a special St. Patrick’s Day leftovers version. Regardless of how you fill these, the technique works the same, and they really are one of the greatest snack foods of all time. Visit foodwishes.blogspot.com/2019/... for the ingredients, more information, and many, many more video recipes. I really hope you enjoy these easy-to-make Knishes!

Quick question...do you purposely make your voice hit a high note on the second to last word in your sentences? You have a very specific and rhythmic way of speaking and I am just wondering where it came from.

Me too! Although, when I was in the middle east many years ago, I was taught to make a version of this recipe. The dough was the same, but the filling was a samboosa ground lamb mixture. Still delicious. And, sometimes we used to steam them for a different texture.

Never heared of them before. I really need to try this out! What I know about this dough is, that the vinegar in it makes it possible to strech it out very thinly. Which is important, when you wanna make European "Apfelstrudel": apple strudel. Rule: through your dough you should be able to read a newspaper, if you layered that with it. And then the Apfelstrudel is baked as a whole. Greetings from the far north of Germany!

Now that you’ve paid homage to the high-end, Yonah Schmmel style baked knishes, I’d love to see your take on the down ‘n’ dirty, street cart and ball Gabila’s style fried knishes!

I used to get corned beef knishes in a deli in Beverly Hills a very long time ago. I loved them. I lucked out today when I was making these and realized I had some duck schmaltz to sautee cabbage and onion together. I already had leftover mashed. I bought puff pastry on a whim yesterday and am making these today. I had some extra pasty, so I made palmiers, too. A good day in the kitchen.

And it's for this reason I am totally turned. Reading the forming process in a cook book would have had me scratching my head and frowning but here, in all it's gloriousness is the coolest way to watch how it works; with Chef John's words of inspiration, "oil, egg wash, nothing, whatever you like" I was all *shrugs how the heck is this gonna work? and there you go, it's the side of your palm pressed, and used as a cutter and former. Love this; and sooo much thanks.

My grandmother made hers with lung. I know that sounds impossible but of all the fabulous things she made, this was supreme.

Haha. You made knishes with kosher salt but had both beef and butter in it. Savage.

Food wishes deserves a tv show tbh. Ive been watching all your videos even though I cant cook some of ur dishes. My fave is the cured salmon, halibut with mushrooms and the shrimp marinated with a lot of spices!
