I tend to line up what age the baby will be when it's actually woolly weather and knit to that size. No point in knitting a thick newborn sized jumper for a baby born in the height of the Australian summer! For a friend's baby born last August, I knew they would be travelling home to Sweden for Christmas, so I picked a size that would fit her as a dress in December, but when our winter rolled around in June, it fitted as a jumper. I also knit stuff that can be rolled up at the sleeve cuffs and are very stretchy, just to give a little bit more wiggle room for longevity. I love the bear idea! I have crocheted toys for kids that have knitted or crocheted outfits, and then I add in a few more outfits for gifts as time passes. My granny did that for me, and I loved getting new outfits and accessories for my toy cat! Plus, they're really good for using up scraps and swatches, you can do quite a lot with small amounts of yarn.

Rolling up sleeves was just ‘done’ in the 70s and 80s, good to see the ‘wiggle room’ is on still. Happy knitting 🧶

I knit exclusively for dolls, teddy bears and other stuffies. They never grow out of it. You can also make doll/bear blankets, the easiest project there is!

Quick question: Do you find any difference in the mm size from the circular to the single pointed needles? I have a clover 9mm circular and the 9mm single point is thicker like maybe 9.25mm. What is your experience. Thanks.

I've not noticed - wouldn't notice that much at the larger sizes, as you're knitting with thicker yarns, the smaller sizes are noticeable if they're 0.25mm too small/big with the thinner yarns.

I was told i was having a 7 1/2 lb baby on my 2nd. He was born 10 6 1/2! We had to take all the nappies and clothes back. He went straight into 3 month old clothes!! And yes, it was a difficult delivery 😳

You have to pick up and knit sts around the start of the neckband then you can rib and cast off x
