Knitting Garter Stitch - Striping on the 'right side'
Knitting every row gives you what is known as garter stitch. Thanks to the repeated knit stitch, it's easy to get confused over which is the 'right side'. It's also easy to mess it up when repeating stripes along a longer piece of knitting. How do we get them to stay consistent and uniform through a scarf or jumper?

This makes so much sense. I was confused when to bring in the new colour to a scarf. My last one I stuffed up, the first two colours I did correct (introduced on “right side”) then subsequent colours without realised I introduced on “wrong side” 😂 I was confused why that nasty line was showing up on my pretty right side. 🙄 I get it now. I’ve made a note of my sewing book. Always change colours of the “right side” of my work 😊

I always know my right side by which side the strand hangs on the cast on, That's the way I use x 😉

That’s a great extra tip when you use the same cast on for most patterns (like I do too). Happy knitting 🧶

My gran started knitting and now, she knits all of the time :) People don't expect fourteen year old to enjoy knitting and sewing however I love it, but I don't do it as often as I would like. I am new here but I'll be sure to watch more of your videos! Do you have a pattern for a jumper?

Hi, I’d take a look at the Beginners Help playlist. The wider, loose and tight knitting videos might have clues that fit together to figure it out. kzfaq.info/sun/PLnqw36aiAI0gTYxZdtkjCxDjBxoI1txqC The tension and aesthetics will also improve with time, so lots of small projects like some bookmarks or coasters, or even just practice squares, will likely help too.
