This simple, yet fancy edge can be easily substituted into patterns that call for a plain edge. (Blooper at the end where the camera kept rolling...)

Thank you for this well done video. I needed a refresher on the picot edge

What a great video :D I'm going to use this for the cuff and hem of my next sweater, whenever I can find a pattern to match my yarn. The stripe idea is fantastic! Thanks :D

There are different ways to work a picot cast-on, but I don't currently have any videos on that. I can add it to the list for upcoming videos. Thank you for the suggestion!

I knit my hem in by knitting them together, this saves me the hemming. Works with most projects.. If you decrease every other row before & after you can make an awesome picot brim for bonnet style hats (infant, toddlers or older).

Saving hemming is always nice even though it makes a wonderful look. I'm not sure how you'd knit your hem in knitting them together. You don't mean fold and then doing something like picking up the stitches the row above and knitting them do you? Hope you get a chance to anser and if so, thanks :)

Whether you use a straight or bend-tip tapestry needle, it's really just a matter of personal preference. I like the way the bent-tip picks up the stitches. I believe both kinds are available online on the Knit Picks website.

Staci u look even more stunning in this vid! the colors around are makes you radiant. thanks for the vid. I´ve learned a lot from you. I´m knitting Jean Greenhowe´s victorian Dolls and as you can imagine their dresses have picot edge. Hope you knit one doll some time so you can show us other techniques. Thanks again!

Wonder if it would not be easier to pick up - after the same amount of rows above the picot knitting - the cast on stitches and knit them together with the stitches on the needle?

Yes - once the video was over and I slipped out of knitting teacher mode, I used a "colorful" word. :) Just being silly with my producer.

You can incorporate the turnover picot edge with knitting so it looks better than sewing.
@jennie65112 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the video. Its great! What kind of needle is that you're using to sew with? It looks like its got a bend in the end of it. Is it easier to use on knitting than a straight needle?

Thanks! I've used quite a few of these videos now. If I want to do a picot edge on a blanket, is there a way to do it on the sides too? And is there a certain length the hemmed part needs to be?

The easiest way to add a motif to knitting would be to use duplicate stitch. You can go to my channel page and search for "Knitting Help - Duplicate Stitch". That should help. I also will be releasing a video very soon on reading charts.

The little pink hat (with the pompom) is knit in Dale of Norway Stork. The green that I used for the sample is Cascade 220 Superwash in color "Lime Sherbert". Sorry - I don't know the names of the colors I used in the Stork.

Wonderful video. I have been following you for a year now. Thank you. I have been telling everyone to go to your website. What kind of brand, type and colors of yarn did you use for your hat and demo. I love the green. -melissa

Is it just me or does this not work when knitting in the round? When I did the k2t before the YO in the round I ended up with one less st than my original CO bc there was one more k2t than YO. Anyone else get that? When I YO then k2t until the end, it was perfect. Plus if you k2t then YO you get that jog in the edge bc of the nature of knitting in the round.
@verypinkknits10 жыл бұрын
Samantha Monteiro - it doesn't matter whether it's a flat piece of knitting or in-the-round, you just need to be sure to work a YO for each k2tog you work, to keep the stitch count the same.

Please contact the pattern designer for help with that. I'm always here to help with questions on my own patterns, but I can't help much with other designer's patterns.
