The Icelandic bind-off technique may look similar to a traditional knitted bind-off, but the results are anything but ordinary! It produces a beautiful rolled-looking edge, particularly on garter stitch. If done correctly, it's a stretchy and beautiful finish for any of your knitted items. The video shows binding off on the right side after 4 rows of garter stitch.

Knitting How-To: the Icelandic Bind-Off: with right side facing, [knit one stitch and replace on left needle. With right needle, reach through the first stitch to knit the second stitch. Slip both stitches off left needle.] Repeat instructions between [ ]s to end and fasten off. If you aren't getting a stretchy bind-off, go up one or even two needle sizes until the bind-off looks like the one in the video. If you are binding off something knit in a loose gauge, such as a shawl, it will most likely be necessary to go up one or two needle sizes for the bind-off.
