Knitting Patterns: Waffle Stitch - Thick, Soft and Fun Fabric

If you looking to make a project that requires a thick fabric, the Waffle stitch may be the one for you. This Waffle Stitch knitting pattern creates this cool fabric and it is super thick and soft at the same time.
Keep in mind that this pattern will take a lot of yarn as it produces such a thick fabric.
I am using a 4 mm knitting needle in this video.
Cast-On in multiple of 2 stitches + 1 stitch + 2 edge stitches
Knitting Pattern:
Base rows: 1st (right side) and 2nd row: knit all stitches
Row 3: K1 (edge) K1, K1B K1, K1(edge)
Row 4: K1 (edge) K1,
Pick up from below (pick up from the long top yarn from the K1B in previous row and knit it along with the stitch on the needle), K1 K1(edge)
Row 5: K1(edge) K1B, K1 K1B, K1 (edge)
Row 6: K1 (edge) Pick up from below, K1, Pick up from below K1 (edge)
Row 3 - 6 are your pattern row repeats
This pattern looks intimidating at first but after you've knit a few rows, you will find it actually very easy. I hope you give this cool and pretty knitting pattern a try.

I'm still a beginner but what I do is just what I do when I crochet I do it, end up taking it apart and then I do it like that until I understand what it is when I am looking at. When I was younger and learning how to crochet people would tell me not to take it apart and I would end up doing it anyways. Knitting and crochet I found have a few differences but mostly the same. Tunisian crochet is almost exactly like knitting and you get beautiful results as you do with knitting.

What is happening in Row 3? Will you explain so I understand how it works in the pattern? 😊

For Row 3, you start with knitting the edge. Then you *K1, K1B* = Knit 1 as normal, then Knit 1 BELOW. You K1, K1B all the way until the end, you should 2 stitches left and you will knit both the last 2 stitches of the row as normal. Hope this helps.

Probably I have no knitting history, i just watched your video and made a scarf with that pattern. But i cant finish it the way I started. First 2 rows are just basic knit. If i knit it the same way as we started it doesn't look the same. What should i do to to make the start and the finish look the exact same way

For the last 2 rows, just knit all stitches like the first 2 row. The stitches where you normally would do Knit 1 BELOW, you would just knit as normal and don't pick up the stitch below. Sounds so hard but I hope this makes all sense. Thank you.

Maybe its beacuse, we tried to do the basic knit 1 after the pattern(repeating 4 rows) not before. Or I am confused and not got the logic at all😅 sorry for the bothering, I'll try and let u know. To work the waffle stitch in the round, you can cast on a multiple of 3 stitches. Here is how you can do it1: Round 1: K2, P1, repeat between *s to end Round 2: K2, P1, repeat between *s to end Round 3: P across all stitches Round 4: K2, P1, repeat between *s to end Work to desired length, bind-off purl-wise on Row 3.
