Thank you so much for your video! I knitted baby booties for my children over 40 years ago and haven't knitted since. I learned how to crochet a couple years ago using KZfaq videos and now I decided to learn to knit again because I have grandchildren who could use baby booties. I tried to crochet booties for them but couldn't find any patterns that were as cute as the ones my grandma and mom taught me a long time ago, so I decided to learn how to knit again. I still have the handwritten baby booties patterns in different sizes from my grandma and mom. Your video was SO HELPFUL! I had to rewind and rewind to get the casting on correctly, but I finally got it and now I'm doing the K1-P1 that the pattern calls for. Hopefully I can figure out the rest as I go. Thank you so much for being willing to teach us how to knit correctly. I REALLY appreciate you!

I crochet. Years ago I tried to learn to knit from a book. It was slow and felt clumsy in my hands. In the one step you covered about having the yard in the knit position and purl position makes things so much easier for me to learn. I believe the book probably was trying to tell me this but it just wasn’t getting thru to my brain. Your sweet voice helped so much. Thank you Gilly for posting this video. I've had the hardest time to do knit 1 purl 1. You showed me that my mistake was not bringing the yarn to the front or back by pulling it through the middle. I was pulling the yarn under the needles to the front or back. Made a big knit mess. I also was beginning my row with the last stitch I did. That didn't work either. You showed me how to tell the knit from the purl so I could determine which stitch to begin with. Thank you so very much. I finally can see that nice ribbing effect. I've crocheted for years and years and yet knitting seemed difficult. You're a wonderful teacher.

Wow, you can knit so fast when you want to! Loved this video, I was really looking for a ribbing video, because none of the others really showed the thread coming forward and backward (just all purl or all knit). Thank you!

Great, thanks so much for teaching how to identify the types of stitch easily, makes complete sense and others have not thought to give this essential information. I'll definitely be back for more.

Great training video. The last time I knitted I was16 and didn't really know the ropes. This video, is slow enough for my refresher of sorts. Now I know the correct terminology etc. and at 55 will now know the correct way to knit. I'm making a scarf now so here we go.

One of the best videos when it comes to explaining ribbing. I watched many videos and I always got confused. That’s I almost gave up altogether. But after watching your video I was able to understand very quickly and follow along. That it gave me the motivation to start a project that I always wanted to do. Thank you ☺️

Thank you soo much for making this! I have been crocheting for about a year and recently deciding to learn how to knit. I find knitting, so far, to be a little more tricky and I have watched a few videos for beginners and no one has explained it as well as you do!! You can see everything clearly and you demonstrate nice and slowly with great instructions. I am going to try and make a scarf from your other video :)

So I have been "knitting" since age 11. When I say that, I mean just the basic stitch. But I've made alot over the years playing it safe, from scarves, hat's, baby booties, half gloves, shawls etc. I got brave at almost 40 in trying to really learn to accomplish more. Which means the next step- purling. Every video I watched...my ribbing did not look correct. Obviously it wasn't. But I checked again and again. My purl stitch itself was correct. But it was not ribbing! Thanks to your video I learned why. Beginning the next row of stitches I was not knit stitching or purl stitching on the correct one. So I was purling when I should have been knit stitching and vice versa. I've been going mad for days trying to figure out what I was doing incorrectly! Thank you for your tutorials!!
