Took a few notes and watched the video three to four times. A zoom out on how to attach the 2nd front section would have been handy, but I managed it in the end. I omitted the hood and just knitted an 8 row collar before casting off... Made a very stylish and trendy pea coat! Thank you.

This was a great video! I only have one reccomendation, pull the camera back for a full view of what you were doing. I was a little lost but know someone who knew how to do a baby pea coat. I agree with everyone, I am not a knitter and you made it look so easy!

Just finished this, its my second attempt at knitting and honestly if it wasn't for your video I wouldn't have been able to do it. Not only does it look fantastic I've seriously impressed my Master Knitting Aunts who were stunned at the precision especially since it was my first real attempt at knitting a garment. The whole thing took me 25 hours to knit, although I am a newbie Id say I am a medium pace Garder stitcher as I find it very easy. I did it in white with a medium thick yarn with 5.5mm needles, the thickness of the yarn has made it more like a coat and the the Garder stitch seems to have a different look to it. I added pink buttons and some pink wool to the tassel that I added to the hood (its for a girl). I found that starting with straight needles helped and then I switched to circular needles when the first sleeve was complete. This gave me better control. I would like to add that although your video was probably the best knitting video I have come across I thought that if you introduced the project at first by explaining what you will do first, second, third it would help in creating a mental image of what you are working on (I know the pattern explains this). Also there was a lack of full view of your working project, I would have liked to see the whole thing occasionally rather than just a zoom on the current bit you were working on. I know you do it further into the video and that does help a lot but for first timers like me its really important to be able to get a full view of what you are doing now and again otherwise we tend to panic a bit. :) Otherwise I would give your video 10 out of 10 and thanks for sharing it. As a guy I thought my friends would find it funny that I was knitting but they've been pretty cool about it and some have had a go at your knitting while watching your other videos. I think you might have started a knitting revolution! :) Keep up the good work and lots of love from Istanbul, Turkey.

That sounds beautiful! I'd love to see a picture of it! Thank you for your comments. I just started showing the whole project during the video and will keep doing so. I think it's awesome that you're a guy and knitting. Ryan Gosling has tried it! Therefore it is the coolest hobby ever!!! ;)

Thank you so much for making this video. I had a daughter last year and decided to make this for her - it is the first time I have tried to knit something other than a square or a scarf - first time I have had to add stitches, do button holes, use extra needles and sew together at the end. You made it really easy for me. My wife and mother are amazed by the end product (and so am I). Thank you!

How did you do the hood? It counts for 64 stitches total after the I Italian increases every 5 stitches but then once the work is split for more increases we have 30 stitches, maker, 3 stitches (constant), marker, then there are 31 stitches left! Every time we add more increases each side one side of the hood still has one more stitch!?

For those of you who have made this, did the hood come out too big? Finished, but the baby would be lost in the hood. It's not as tapered as her finished coat. She did a good job of explaining. Wish the pattern creator was better. Not sure I want to spend money on a pattern I can't understand. This young lady made sense of it.

I must say i got a bit confused at the buttonhole part, It is tricksy! Had to look up a few other sources to make sense of it all. BUT, I LOVE your knit-along videos! So thank you so much for doing them. I usually know how to follow recipes, but it feels lonely to "knit on my own", so I come to have some company. (hope that does not sound sad) It is always a good way to learn new things, instead of making the same old mistakes. Anyway, Lots of love from a happy knitter.

+samantha rabbetts hello. could u please help me with mine? i have knitted till the button holes and i know i have to increase the length till 11 cms. but after that im not getting anything. i have followed the written pattern too but still im confused. she started knitting with once arm and bound it off. did we have to bind off both the sides of the arm? i did that and removed it from my needle(i am not using circular needles, but straight ones)so there's a hole between two sides (between 52 st on right needle and 52 st on remaining left needle) in her video, i see that its open and two sides are not joined. and how did she made another sleeve?
@sammichislett7153

+Anam zaidi hi the first attempt I did was using normal needles and I did confuse myself as there wasn't room to leave work on there so I purchased some circular ones from eBay about £1 and just followed the video little bit at a time at one point you have to keep stitches on hold not bind off! which stay on the needle so at no point should u have nothing on ur needles and then you attach stitches to the stictchs on hold and create the other sleve , this is the first time I have knitted anything so not sure how I can help as I just followed the video pausing it and rewinding and 're watching lol
@ZaidiAnam
@ZaidiAnam 8 жыл бұрын
thanks for ur reply samantha. this is my first time too and i am very confused. i have already knitted and bound off and left no stitches as it was not mentioned in the video or in the written pattern too. i asked her in the beginning that u have used circular needle in ur video and i have started using straight so would that make any difference. she said no. now i dont understand how can i fix this :/

@sammichislett7153 8 жыл бұрын
+Anam zaidi if u watch the vid from 18:50 she has knitted button holes and rest of front panel she lays the work she did b4 down and folded so the sleve is to the right (when it looking at it)and the stitches on hold are to the back,place ur button hole panel on top then flip it up and then you attach the button hole panel to ur stitches u have on hold hope that makes sence

First of all: Thanks a lot for that great video. For a 59-years-old male beginner that´s a huge help!!! Now I have one question though: I´m going to start with the right front (zone 5) - the one with the button holes. I´m wondering if I take some new needles to cast on or if I take the needles where the stitches of the Back are still on hold. If yes: Which needle of the two do I choose to cast on. And one more question (sorry!): Do I count the cast on as a RS row or is the first row after the cast on my first RS row! You would make an "old man" very happy with any kind of support. Thanks in advance and greetings from Germany. Michael 🙂

+iKNITS Oh my goodness....that was the hardest part, deciding which to cast on first! I love the look of drop-stitch knits so I went with the drop-stitch cowl. Even though I am a painfully slow knitter it was nearly finished in just a couple hours. I planned on giving the FO to my daughter for Giftmas but ended up frogging it because my knitting is so tight that I could barely fit it over my head. xD....NOW I've started over but instead of a cowl, I'm doubling the CO stitches and making it a circular scarf she can wrap around a time or two. I'll be sure to share pics when it's done! :)

briar turvey since you bought the pattern also can you help me with zone 6? Body (zone 6): • Cast on 4-4-4 [4-4-6-6] more sts. following the ones on the needle, then knit the 40-43-48 [53-58-59-66] sts. on hold for back from where you previously cut yarn. You have 84-90-100 [110-120-124-138] sts. on the needle. Zone 5 said to end on WS row...so do I cast on the 4 sts there at the beginning of zone 6, or directly after the sts I had knitted in zone 5, just before I connect with the sts I have on hold?

Hi dear, I’m knitting with you his cardigan for my little girl... when we cast on the other 34 on the other side, and ilusão “Knit for 8 cm” , do you mean just the little part of 34 sts or the whole piece?

Exactly!!! I was confused at first but somehow I learned that we have to knit with both the 34 together to reach 8 cm

Hi just a tip from a beginner following you video, it would help to know what side we were meant to knit the second piece with the button holes. I had to use a second set of needles to switch it around lol.

Dimondglory, this is not a strange way to knit, thats how i was taught. I think your talking abour continental knitting which to me is a strange way to knit. However what ive learned is people have diffrent knitting techniques but the patterns sll come the same.

hi hny. love the tutorials. but as I'm hard of hearing, you either need to speak louder or lower the music hny. as I'm finding it rather difficult to hear you hny xxx I'm sure I'm not the only one. other than that your amazing. you have made knitting look easy enough for a numpty like me very able to have a go 😉. I'm a complete newbie and urs are the most explanatory and easiest/slowest demonstrated tutorials. Thank-you Thank-you so much hny.

I think you skipped a step around 10:00 to bind off 4 stiches of that 52, but I'm not sure whether it was intentional or not.

Hi, I new to knitting and followed this video. I was impressed with how well it turned out and wanted to make it in larger size, so purchased the pattern. I have never knitted before by following pattern, so when I got to zone 3 I became very confused. Not sure if anyone else has followed pattern and may be able to help. Zone 3, line 2 says bind of 4 stitches. When I followed KZfaq video it didn’t do this. Would appreciate some guidance from anyone who has followed the pattern.

ruth masih hello, it is different since it’s upgraded. I am not the designer, but I will try to help, you knit the amount it tells you to, then you turn your work and you bind off 4 of your last 4 sts you just knitted. So you’re working on the same sts you knitted at first, minus 4. Then keep knitting those for the amount it says and then cut the yarn, leaving the sts on the needle. Does that help?

Just finished the body of the peacoat and I Am stuck at the hood. Picked up a few more stitches around but made it up at second row with less augmentations, totaling the 64 sts, but then it becomes confusing when splitting for the next augmentations and shape of the hood…. 30 sts, marker, 3 constant sts (between markers), then the other marker, 31 sts are left! If the augmentations starts at each marker we still have one more stitch on one side! Je ne comprends pas!!! Am I missing something? Should it be a total of 63 stitches…
