In this pivotal moment from Knocked Up, Ben (Seth Rogen, known for his role in Neighbors) rushes to Alison's (Katherine Heigl from The Abominable Truth, Grey's Anatomy, and 27 Dresses) side as she experiences labor contractions in the bathtub. The scene underscores the comical yet heartwarming dynamic between the two as Ben, somewhat unprepared for the situation, attempts to provide support and guidance.

As they realize Alison's doctor is unavailable, being at a Bar Mitzvah in California, Ben and Alison make the practical decision to head to the hospital and secure medical assistance en route. Despite the initial panic, the scene highlights their ability to work together and adapt, setting the stage for the imminent arrival of their child. With Knocked Up's recent release on Netflix on April 16th, viewers can now relive this humorous yet tender moment that captures the essence of their unconventional journey into parenthood.

What’s the Knocked Up movie about?
Ben Stone (Seth Rogen - who also starred in Neighbors) is having a great time with his four inseparable buddies as lazy and scruffy as he is. A project brings them together: create a paid site, starsapoil.com, which will offer Internet users nude scenes of their favorite actresses. The beautiful Alison Scott (Katherine Heigl - who has also starred in The Abominable Truth, Grey's Anatomy and 27 Dresses), a production assistant for a Hollywood television station, lives with her older sister, Debbie. When Alison Scott sleeps with Ben unprotected on a drunken night out, she becomes pregnant with him. Alison and Ben must then make a choice.

There is some beautiful intimacy here in their acting. There she is, naked and pregnant in the tub, completely vulnerable (because that is the only way she can relax) and there he is being protective and supportive the entire time she is naked and vulnerable. All he is doing is everything that she is asking, giving her whatever she needs. Right there. The trust level for her towards him (the father) skyrockets. It especially skyrockets because she has allowed her self to be so completely vulnerable and helpless and he has not taken advantage of that and is only offering support.

Your doctor does not have to be at the birth of the child. Labor and Delivery have nurses and Doctors on staff to help with delivery. A Pediatrician will come into the room when the baby is birthed and check over them. My wife's doctor wasn't present when she gave birth to our child. It is not like they were helpless because their Doctor was unavailable.

When I was pregnant with my first, I went to a clinic that had three doctors to it. That way there would always be someone working on birth days. Great right? Well the day I went into labor, two of the doctors (who were married) were on vacation together and the other one was also unavailable. Some random doctor from the hospital delivered my kid. He did a great job but I was still pissed at the OBs office I had been going to.

Exact same thing happened to us in 1971. Had a rough delivery over 36 hrs. in labor. Dr. who delivered was fantastic, even got a room and stayed in hosp. for 2 full days. Then they would not allow him to sign the birth certificate, and we had to pay the original 3. Just turned 50 last week.

This is really important during labor. Now I don't insult the women who are nervous/panicking or have low pain tolerance or if didn't watch videos to familiarize themselves with their bodies even more(entirely optional, this is their choice). Every pregnancy is different and this so are all the mothers. But it still helps, learning about everything that will happen from the dilation to the crowning to the effects it'll take mentally, physically, etc. And the importance of staying calm.

I don't think labour comes anywhere near low pain tolerance category.
@pinkishhaven5158
@pinkishhaven5158 3 жыл бұрын
@@nilanjanabhattacharjee8266 indeed. Because labour seems to come in waves, like a super major dysmenorrhea, even those with a higher pain tolerance will grimace with pain. All females hunch down in pain when full labor comes. I feel that it's much more significant in how they handle or react to the pain. Nowadays, breathing classes are very helpful in keeping women calm and the mother-to-bes have many access to information abour pregnancy for reassurance. I'm still a young woman in my early 20s so I haven't experienced that yet, but i have sisters, aunts, and in-laws. All their reactions varied and ranged from calm to panic and silent to screaming. None were judged from it, of course. As i plan to take to get a midwifery degree I've been trying my best reading, studying, analyzing, and even sorta copying (from the videos😂, both from the midwives/doctors and the mother's POV). But i know I'll never fully understand until i experience pregnancy for myself and since I'm alright with being a mother in the future then that'll be fine... I found that in my entire grade school years that I was sort of the only one in all my female classmates who was interested in watching "gross" birthing videos, focused straight on the vag of the mother, and that they all either refused to watch out of disgust, fear or something else but in doing so they were unaware of some small birthing trivias that they reacted to in surprise when I told them about because they completely thought it was the other way around (like from the movies).
