@@AnonymousanonymousA that happens a lot in pretty much any “smart” field. It’s also why some professors seem to get off on making their classes needlessly difficult. It’s a problem. (But then again, it’s so so so satisfying to show these types of A Holes KZfaq videos that break their entire subject down into a small video like unnnnnnngh) You wanna see a doctor be rude, just MENTION that you googled your symptoms. Just SUGGEST that you did some of your own research. It’s one thing for a doctor to be like “oh well just be aware the internet is not a super reliable diagnostic tool” NO, SO MANY DOCTORS WILL GET ACTUALLY ANNOYED LIKE are they afraid of being replaced by robots? Are they insulted that you, a lowly non-doctor, would DARE try to be a doctor by googling your own symptoms? Yet they will also get mad if you waste their time with a simple problem that you could solve yourself at home But how would I know that? Well you look it up But YOU GET MAD IF I LOOK IT UP 😰

Babies have chords wrapped around their necks in about one fifth to one third of all births. It's really pretty rare that it causes a problem. Now...the heart rate slowing _might_ indicate a risky situation, but it's not like it never happens that doctors or nurses overstate how urgent a situation is or try to guilt laboring women into certain decisions because it's just easier for them to do things a certain way.

@@Mercurystars4202 my sister was kinda of the opposite, she didn’t have passage for the baby and the chord was around it’s neck. She was screaming for a c section while the doctors were yelling at her to shut up and saying she was being dramatic, my niece’s heart beat dropped drastically and that’s when they decided to do an emergency c-section. My niece didn’t have oxygen in her brain for a good amount of time and almost died. She stayed in the ICU for almost a month but recovered and thankfully doesn’t have any problems from it

I'm a med student who just finished two months labor delivery for obgyn and pediatrics. I totally sympathize with Dr Chen here. lots of Moms like to have a big fancy birth plan. They don't realize how much shit can go wrong with the baby so we're really not trying to make it a great experience. We're trying to make it a safe one where the mom and the kid go home healthy. Yes it's ideal we make them happy too but if the babies heart rate was decelerating and in distress then let it happen. Oh I don't wanna have an "epidural". I've seen hundreds of babies born. Most with and some without. The only thing you accomplish when you do without an epidural is give yourself a lot of pain. Sorry if this seems cold but this comedy is painting the picture that the doctor is a dick and that's annoyingly ignorant
@karalindstrom7729
@karalindstrom7729 7 жыл бұрын
ok... but you kinda just backtracked a little there too. Every pregnancy and birth is different. Some pregnancies don't have much pain to them either. It might be rare but it happens. I had doctors try to tell me to take some drugs while I had my babies too. Neither time did I really feel the need to take anything... but then again my births took a very short amount of time (1 1/2 hrs and 4 hrs for the whole process respectively). I think the doctors and the mothers both need to go with the flow a bit because that crap is unpredictable. However, any emergencies go straight to the doctor to make decisions. No risking the baby's life over trivial shit.

Apparently you did not learn much in med school. The first thing is being "tactful", then there is "empathy." How about the Rule of 5 Vowels in medical interviewing, including audition and intonation? As a medical student I doubt you saw "100s of babies being born". At least Dr. Chen saw his mistake and made corrections.
@alaly1027
@alaly1027 6 жыл бұрын
I've worked in OB almost 11 years. Besides the scene being hilariously inaccurate, doctors in any specialty need to make sure the CLIENT has the best outcome and experience that they can. When she said no, and I have seen women refuse reasonable and recommended interventions multiple times, it's not necessarily because of birth plans. It could be that, or because you haven't explained yourself well and they don't know what you are about to do to them. I have encountered so many repeat c/s who don't even know why they got their first because no one talked to them. Epidurals are wonderful...when they work, they don't always, and sometimes they can dangerously drop mom's BP affecting the fetus, and some women whether it's cultural or not just have accepted that childbirth hurts and want to deal with it. The recovery after natural childbirth is the easiest hands down. Easier than if you had an epidural. Some doctors and I have seen this as well, want women anesthetized for **their** convenience, not hers. The baby is fine, the mother is fine. Unfortunately, there are a lot of OBs and people out there period, who have been conditioned to think that women can't handle what our bodies are fucking made to handle. Epidurals, amniotomies, and pitocin administration, do not make labor safer. In fact a lot of the "shit that can go wrong" happens because of our fancy "medical interventions". As long as she is reasonable and understands that things may have to deviate from the plan, I can handle a birth planner. P.S. The doctor *was* a dick. She said I don't want that and he flew off the handle.
@pliteni
@pliteni 6 жыл бұрын
c0cksmak yup and as a doctor, I can also tell the only thing that epidurals do is not just take the pain away. They also can drop you blood pressure, cause variable (even late decelerations), and prolong labour, or cause rapid descent whereby you can even get cord prolapse, metabolic acidosis of the neonate etc. Things you would know if you did med school. I’m not saying epidurals are bad, but all things have to be weighed and clearly explained to patients who are human beings.

@xyzsame4081
@xyzsame4081 2 жыл бұрын
When a woman gives birth she is entitled to several waivers (and it is by no means clear that she processes the information "infection" or chord around the neck). According to script the father did not process the meaning of chord around the neck or infection, or need to speed up birth fully. and he has not even been in labor. You have no idea about the hormonal roller coaster that is going on in the body of a woman when her body transitions into giving birth. I liked the script (the actor is a doctor) and his no nonsense attitude. Which is a match to the couple not being completely reasonable or not grasping the situation fully. I will deliver this baby safely or I'm out. We had planned a birth experience. Doctor: I have a plan, too: Getting out the baby safely.

To be honest, this part was really tense/unfunny... since Jeong is a doctor in real life, I feel like the producers/directors of the movie let him do as much as he wanted (comedy wise). Yet, as the movie progressed, it became less and less of a comedy, and more and more true to REAL life. The gynecology visit was hilarious because of how dry he was (explaining what a zygote was/breaking down the birthing stages unto trimesters, etc.), but, as Allison becomes closer to the birthing stage, Jeong isn't kidding around anymore/as much. I feel like, in this scene {especially}, he is venting REAL frustration from REAL life experience. These lines are probably things he has said to REAL women, in REAL life, and he is, in no way, joking. It could {maybe?} why he took the role... not only to be a comedic-relief character, but ALSO to accurately portray a REAL doctor's profession, in a {very REAL} life situation

@chiefbologna5719
@chiefbologna5719 2 жыл бұрын
@@NoCommonSense9 She went on an interview and publicly stated that she did not like the movie, felt it was sexist and meant to portray men characters as more lovable than the women. After that she never reached out to Apatow or Rogen to clarify her feelings. Then her and Rogen have a “heated” run in at a random restaurant, which resulted in “the drama rumbling on.” Whether her criticism was just or not, it’s kind of a well known rule, that you do not shit on the production of a movie that is credited for launching (as well as eventually destroying) her career. To add on to the fuckery, she didn’t express her thoughts to the production team and instead shit on the movie afterwards, which hurts the movie’s popularity. In retrospect, what she did was small. However, in the entertainment industry, she basically shot herself in the knee with an arrow. Now anyone who works with her has to worry about what she’s going to say after they release the movie. Basically, she displayed to everyone that she can be detrimental to the success of a movie cause she can, at any time, go on an interview and shit on it. Personally, I don’t care for her. A million other actresses like her out there who do better jobs. Also no her career never reached that height again, the biggest title she’s done since are 27 dressed (released a year later so she already filmed at the time of the interview) and Logan Lucky (which most of us didn’t realize she was in till the credits). It was a mild comment yes, but a mild comment directed towards the wrong group of people and the ones who it was not against became weary because who wants to be her next target?? Also weird thing to say get help over, I literally forgot this post existed till rn, anyway have fun being increasingly annoyed at people like me and how we keep these wonderful woman from doing great things like ruining their career. (That’s sarcasm, you must be really retarded to think the fans are the reason she never gets any new roles) Tl;dr: She had the chance to voice her displeasure towards the movie BEFORE its release and instead decided to do it AFTER. Potentially hurting it’s success and the success of everyone involved. That’s why she’s been blacklisted and will probably never get off of that list. Not whatever shit theory you got going on in your head

@@DeepikaGinger it doesn't matter how scared she is, her baby is about to get strangled. I swear to God women care more about feelings than actually important things like idk, giving birth to a baby that's alive? As soon as she hears that the cord is around that baby's neck, her plan should go right out the window. Especially when the doctor says he needs to get the baby out. I totally understand the doctors frustration. She's trying to tell him how to do his job when the baby's about to get strangled. Like no lady, just let him do his thing his way. Because if the baby dies, the responsibility primarily falls on the doctor who will be blamed for it.

@Jocelyn Anne What is the point of lying on the internet? Seriously? You're not studying anything and if you are, you aren't paying attention. "Labor epidurals are placed below the termination of the spinal cord, therefore, there is no risk of spinal cord puncture. Hence, persistent neurological injury is non-existent within recent decades and temporary neurological injury from labor is exceptionally rare." Awwwe... is hearing that the epidural goes absolutely nowhere near the spinal cord brand new information? 🥺 Your grade average must be a solid F at this point. ImaginaryJocelynAnne Medical University must be so extremely disappointed in you!! Getting paralyzed from an epidural is one of the first myths dispelled to you when pregnant and/or starting Labor&Delivery nurse education training. It doesn't happen. It is a myth and has been known as a myth for decades. Different aspects of birth can cause one to become permanently paralyzed, all *EXTREMELY* rare, none of those aspects involve epidurals. But congrats! How does it feel to be another POS spreading false medical info online? Does it make you feel good? Probably because you are clearly that self absorbed. If you ever again need to choose between admitting ignorance or spreading blatant lies as fact, do better next time, k? Btw, do you know where that research and analytics quote is from? Of course not. John Hopkins Medicine of Anesthesiology. You know, John Hopkins? In the top 5 best universities for med students within the country? Of course you don't know that, why would you🥴 You're ignorant on the topic, just SAY that. Now because you have been caught lying on the internet to avoid taking an L, you have been officially awarded the title of stupid. You weren't stupid before but you definitely are now, ThAaaanKssss😊 Women of the world, get an epidural and don't get your information from these wackos online. Talk to your doctor always, phony med students are everywhere spreading false information so their "know it all" ego doesn't take a hit. So, You've never had a kid. You aren't a med student.
