Nice compressor. Don't forget to set the tool regulator pressure while the tool is running. You want a 90-100 psi working pressure. Also, take a look at the Milton V-style hi-flo couplers for increased tool performance. .

@@RCInsiders I have a Quincy QT-54 60 gallon 2 stage I bought a couple years ago. It is pretty quiet as well. I had a 60 gallon oil-free compressor that was very loud and slow. It flew apart and they no longer made parts for it so I bought the Quincy. I converted a milling machine to cnc and needed air for it so I used some rapidair 3/4" air line to plumb my shop. I have a few hose reels also, 2 inside, 1 outside so I am covered pretty good.

Came to KZfaq looking for the comments to trouble shoot. Bought the same one, twice. Returned the first one, got another. Apparently having the same problem with it not turning on while using it. And then I read through the comments, and sure enough. This thing is quiet, for sure. But a sensor problem? Brand new? I'm not impressed. Highly disappointed. This thing is going back to Lowes.

I have heard this a couple other times & it happened to me one time & never again. I have definitely been very happy with the compressor overall. Would say it is by far the best I have ever had. I would have to guess a switch sensor issue but can't find any other info on it from others. I literally still turn it on sometimes just to hear it 😀 Other than the one issue you had with it, how did you like the compressor & it's features? Hi Dustin, What kind of issues are you having with your air compressor?
@robinspina9968
@robinspina9968 Жыл бұрын
Hello. I purchased this Kobalt air compressor about a week ago. Glad you like it. It worked impressively helping me blow out my sprinkler system, but that was after I first had an issue. I'm wondering if you have any comments about the following issue. First, of course I let the tank fill and after a few minutes it was filled. Then I turned on my sprinkler Zone 1 and the compressor blew out the remnant water just fine. However, the compressor would not turn on again to refill the tank after it dropped to 50 psi or whatever it was. I kept turning it off and on to no avail. Yes, the ballcock at the bottom was closed. So I then opened the ballcock and let the remaining air out. After I did that, it turned on again to refill the tank. I then went to Zones 2 and 3 and repeated all three zones again with no problem whatsoever. Now, is that something that can be explained or do you think the compressor is defective? Thanks in advance for any thoughts you can throw my way.

Hey Robin. I had this happen one time when it was newer & not happened since after hundreds of hours of use. I was told by a mechanic that it could be a pressure sensor issue or it could of just been a "glitch" & since it didn't happen again to not worry about it. This has been the best air compressor I've ever had & I still turn it on sometimes for no other reason but to hear how quiet it is :) Did you have a different compressor before this one? If you're running your air tools over a hundred PSI you need to turn them down I can't believe you haven't burned them up yet 150 PSI is way too much for any air tool even an impacted by . Professional shops don't even run them. You'll burn the seals and hopefully you're using air impact lubricant

I run out of pressure very quickly when using my Kobalt air chisel with this air compressor. I've played with the tool regulator and still cant get lasting pressure. @RCInsiders
@RCInsiders Жыл бұрын
Hi, Not sure. My thoughts are that the tool has a big air leak, or possibly oversized? What size chisel are you using? Do you have the 150 psi, 26 gallon tank like in the video? Also, make sure the drain valve is closed all the way & check all fittings and hoses for leaks. I can run the chisel for a long time. I did the whole step and never ran out of air. The only time I really run out of air is when running a large impact for extended periods of time. Sorry to hear you're having issues. Let me know if I can help. @@RCInsiders I have a Wen 8 gallon, handed down. They shipped it to my bro, broken, so he called service and they told him to keep it, they sent another. It was only a bent exhaust cover, he gave it to me, and I fixed it. Anyway, can't beat free, but it won't last too long without kicking on and it's adequately loud. I was eyeing the Flexzilla 20 gallon due to quiteness (less than 50dba) and CFMs, but I also would like closer to 30 gallon. That Flexzilla is pricey, but the EMAX Hulk at Northern is basically the same but for noticeably less. Well, thanks for the reply. Yours seems a good choice, and I'm looking at some low CFM guns at Eastwood which might make all this work. My biggest job will be the undercarriage. I'll get a pro shop to put on the base and clear. How much dd the tool pressure drop from the 100psi when the big impact was triggered?
@RCInsiders
@RCInsiders Жыл бұрын
Hey Bryan, With the initial trigger pull you lose about 10 psi then quickly regains. I can usually run about 5 minutes til the compressor kicks in to compensate pressure loss. I will then deplete sufficient psi in another 5 minutes. This very rarely happens as I almost never run the impact for more than a couple minutes at a time. The large capacity tank keeps most of my projects running without waiting for refill. Been a great compressor for me. By far the best I've had. Are you getting one? Hey Chopped, This is an odd issue I have not heard of. How old is the unit? How long after purchase did this start happening? The air compressor has a great warranty. I haven't had any issues so far & we use it pretty heavily. Can you just turn it off & back on instead of starting over? If I had to guess I would think a pressure switch & should be a cheap easy fix. Thanks for dropping by & have a great day :) #RCInsiders

@@RCInsiders it's just past the 3 yr warranty I may see how much a new pressure switch and see if it cures it

@@choppedandscrewedcustoms These compressors use a capacitor to KICK it on when it's under pressure. You may have a bad capacitor. The other very common issue is if you have a long cord connected to the compressor's plug. Keep it close to an outlet and avoid using a cheap extension cord if one is required.

@@choppedandscrewedcustoms The capacitor (some compressors have two) is located under the plastic cover where the electronics are. Something else you can try is to change the oil and break it in again. Make sure that you don't overfill the crankcase. The oil level should be halfway on the sight glass when the compressor is off and sitting on a level floor. Let it run for 30 minutes with no load and the drain valve wide open. Then shut it off, change the oil again and wait a few hours or overnight to allow full cool down. Then turn it on and use it enough to allow the compressor to kick and see if that solves your situation. Use straight 30W compressor oil that you can purchase at your local auto parts store or home center.

cubic feet per minute - not meter

Hey John, Yes, cubic feet per minute. Did I say meter at some point? If so, thanks for the correction 😀 Do you have one of these compressors? Absolutely love it :) Thanks for dropping by & have a great day! @RCInsiders

Slow to fill junk. Not running any air tools for more than a few seconds. Gave mine away.

Just curious...Why are you watching a review video of something you claim you gave away? In the video, you watched me running an air hammer non stop, an air hog to say the least. I run all my air tools with no issues. Always stopping & waiting with my ols compressor. This is not an industrial compressor you would find in a shop setting. It is meant for the home garage & it does this perfectly. And it is very quiet!! :) Thanks for dropping ny & have a great day. @RCInsiders
