Konarak Temple is situated in Puri district near Chandravaga beach in the state of Odisha of India. It lies on the coast by the Bay of Bengal,60kilometres from capital Bhubaneswar. Lord Sun was Worshipped there. It is also famous for its sculpture.It is also known as Black pagoda,built in black granite. The temple is a World Heritage site.It was built during the reign of Narashimadeva-1(13th century).It is known as Sun Temple and designed as gigantic chariot of lord Surya(sun god) with twelve pairs of ornamented wheels. Only six of seven horses still stand.
