My mom is currently on 128 villagers photos obtained. She is hardcore about playing every day, but she also is using amiibo cards. I have her take any rare villagers that are moving off of my island as well. She doesn't take any photos from me or anyone on nookazon. She doesn't keep any villagers either, though she is keeping a list of her favorites so far (Felicity is her current new favorite).

I'm one of those maniacs that's also trying to complete the catalogue and get all villager photos. I'm doing it by species though. It'll be easier to find every single cat I need on mystery islands if I have 9 cats in my village, since that removes them from the large pool of possible cat villagers to find on mystery islands. Once I finish one species, I will move on to whatever species I encounter first on a mystery island that I haven't done yet. I'll save birds, ostriches, and eagles for the end though, because my dreamies are mostly those, and it'll be easier to get them for the first time and then keep them, rather than kicking them out once and trying to find them later. This probably won't be nearly as fast as your method, but it'll be easier for me to keep track of who I've already gotten photos from, like "yeah that's a cat I've already gotten the cats" or "oh that's a hippo I'm looking for them now"

The dedication to this challenge is impressive! I think this might turn out to be the longest "speedrun" in all of gaming lol

For villager gifts, I do have a tip. If you don't have enough non native fruit, a stack of 8 native fruit, 3 coconuts, or 3 of any vegetable also works. However, only the 3 coconut stack adds neatly up to exactly 750 bells. So arguably, the 3 coconut stack is the most efficient since it accomplishes the most with the least possible amount of value. For reference: The 2 non native fruit stack is 1000 bells. The 8 native fruit stack is 800 bells. The 3 vegetable stack is 1050 bells. If you want to more efficiently farm coconuts, you can place coconut trees outside your beach if you terraform a square of sand where you want to plant the sapling. It looks kinda silly, but it works. And of course you can always pick up the coconuts if you ever visit mystery islands for any reason.

I’m working on making a Happy Home Paradise Vacation Home for every villager in the game, and really try to do each one true to their theme and with 2 floors decorated inside and out. I’m up to about 155. I will have to go back and redo the ones I did before I had access to all the features :). Good luck with your quest!

My hardest challenge is apparently getting purple pansies. Ive got all the other flowers including gold roses and ‘what roses’ but no purple pansies yet. I know how to breed them but i must have the worst RNG ever.

Collecting villager photos is definitely hard. I’ve only ever gotten 1 (from Sheldon the Squirrel villager). I started with him on my island so that’s probably why I got his and no one else’s yet. The other stater villager moved out before I got their photo and I let them go because I’m still searching for my dreamies. My island journey is a mess. 😂👍

Honestly, I've just been playing other games while waiting for the next game. I really wished New Horizons got more updates, but it is what it is. I really hope you make a playlist of all of the streams (so I can maybe watch them all) and maybe *one day* make a video of this! ArgonMatrix still hasn't made a video about the price of perfection yet, but I am watching the vods of that one currently. I've been playing Stardew Valley, Paper Mario, and some other games while trying to get out of my New Horizons burnout rut. I hope I can play The Sims 4 today... I was watching this video waiting for it to download.

The framed photo completion is the main thing that drives my daily play right now. My island is done decorating and nothing else is all that compelling to me. I've never reset my island since launch and I've gotten 117 framed photos so far. There were a couple villagers that I messed up and let move before I really got my rhythm of cycling through villagers, but I have a big outdoor museum of all the pictures and a spreadsheet on my computer to keep track of who I've gotten. I've never time traveled and I'm actually really curious on how long I can keep this madness up.

The thing that keeps me going in the game is just completely decorating my island. All of it. Every…single…pixel…

I'm also on the quest of collecting everything in all variations in the game. But without time traveling and without Nintendo online, I'm excluding villager posters and photos from that goal (and all Sangrio and Nook Link items). Currently I'm missing: 4 DIY, 3 furnitures, 51 fish/insect models (already have all ingredients stored), 7 floors, 15 rugs and 73 clothing items (sadly no way to change the variant like with furnitures).

I am also trying for the complete catalogue and villager photos, but I'm not time travelling and I am using amiibos. Been at it for about an hour each day for the last 18 months, so far I have 160 photos all kept track of on a spreadsheet. I find that just going on for that short amount of time keeps me motivated. 1:16 Kora: "Are you really beating Animal Crossing if you don't get everything?" I didn't know that there's an end to Animal Crossing. I mean, there's the end credit after getting Project K completed, but then after that, a major part of the game will be opened up, especially if you get the DLC. The only reason why I don't touch my Animal Crossing New Leaf island is because I'm too used to seeing Animal Crossing in HD and not on a 5-inch screen of the 3DS XL. And I know after playing that game for almost six years, I haven't completed it.

You’ve inspired me to 100% my island!!

Getting all DIY recipes, including the cooking recipes, is way harder than villager photos. There are 900+ recipes in the game, and trying to get them all is absolutely painful and exhausting. I lost my mind over Pashmina not giving me the iron doorplate (it took me FIVE MONTHS to get it), and Marshal not giving me the golden plate armor. I'm so glad Nookazon helped me completing this goal. I completed it in June of this year, and I was blissful when it was finally over. So many duplicates 😭😭😭 but I never gave up. I didn't even time travel once! The very last recipe I got was the spooky cookies, I was lucky enough to get it before October! 🤣

I’m working on completing all the Nook Mile Achievements, including all levels of each achievement!

I've competed all the Nook Mile achievements but for the 100 KK concerts and the 20 islander birthdays - so there's a date in early January when those should all be done. And I'm only still missing 15 DIYs... mostly those accursed crowns and wreaths. So I'm playing until January, hoping for a lucky run of the DIYs I'm missing before then.

This is how i kill my time until the next animal crossing: Step 1: start every year a new island. Step 2: Cry for 2 months cause i miss my villagers. Step 3: Back on the ACNH grind!

Since this spring, my goal has been to get all of the fish and insect models with no time travel. I'm just waiting for November to get the tuna and blowfish and I'll be done! It was fun to fish and bug hunt again (especially all of those big beetles in the summer). Now I have to decide if I want to display them somewhere. I already have the giant ones (my favorites) in the gardens -- maybe that's enough!

I have just been trying to decorate my island and collect things from the museum. As a matter a fact, i actually completed the fossils yesterday. Now i just need to complete the bugs, fish, and artwork. Well, i suppose that is progress!

I’ve been trying to find the last statue to complete my museum and I’ve been getting models of every bug and fish. After watching this I’m wishing I hadn’t sold the photos of the villagers I kicked.

Yeah rely just on the move out bubble makes so you can only get 24 villagers ask to move out (and that if you are luck with rng) campsite villagers and amiibos help me a lot (only use amiibos if I do not get a camper in a week as well as does not have that personality) I have gotten 52 villagers this year so far. For the campsite villagers, I usually go for the oldest villager for 1 hour then just go until they pick someone who can move out.

The fruit trick doesn't work anymore sadly. What does work is giving a gold or blue rose though. So I keep a bunch around just for this. They patched the fruit trick a while ago so now it only counts one piece of fruit even if there's two of them in the package.

i honestly think animal crossing deserves more respect - seeing as how the game was being worked on during 2012, and if what people say is true of how the same game developers that created splatoon 1, it makes sense. new horizons and splatoon were both being worked on during the same time, however, splatoon released first. this is something i'm unaware of why these developers chose to do this, but maybe its because splatoon was easier to make, seeing as how any animal crossing game took a while to make, with all the items, villagers, the design ideas for their houses, even the clothes. splatoon was simple, it was a simple concept with a simple storymode campaign. the gap between new leaf and new horizons also plays a big role in this. the new horizons game did skip over a console, due to the development most likely being delayed. the reason for this is probably because they were originally just going to make another game like new leaf, but later scrapped the idea and went with the tropical island theme which is what the game is now. i understand why people wish that there would be newer updates, content, and possibly a new game altogther within the next year or so. but you have to take these small things into consideration. theres legal things, small things to consider when creating terms of service for a game, etc. THOSE things, which easily get ignored by the playerbase. new horizons developers honestly got lucky with when they released the game. they made a TON of money, and i'm super happy for them, that money feeds their famillies and everything. it pays off bills and shit. i dunno, i just feel like when you want a new horizons game, you aren't taking other peoples perspectives into consideration. i wish i could make this longer, perhaps even write an entire essay of this subject, but i have to cut it short. thanks to anyone who read this. disclaimer here, i'm not trying to piss anyone off, this is just my genuine opinion. long story short kora, it'll probably be a while before a new animal crossing game comes out. i get loving the game, but these developers are working on splatoon, and since they already gave us the years/dates when a new splatoon update comes out, we probably already know when the new animal crossing will come out with that information. anyways, thanks again for reading my silly little rant

Every character's photo is honestly my only goal in this game. It has been since launch because in the previous game everyone would move before I'd fully romanced them. I'm at 70. Which sounds like a lot but... frick. And I have 3 permanent villagers cos I love them. But yeah, this is exactly how I play the game. I can't play every day, for various reasons, so I have a few TT weeks, I play through them, and let it sit for a bit. But I do use amiibo.

If there's no new one in 2025 or before than I'll be graduating high school 😅

Kora, do you think you could go to science island and figure out what the heck is going on with fossil spawning? Even though I've had all the fossils for over two years now, I still dig up all of my fossils every day to get them checked and sell them. I swore there were 5 per day. But recently I only find 4 or 3 fossils per day. I looked it up and most articles said 4-5 fossils will spawn per day, one said 3-5 per day, and someone on Reddit said they had 7-9 per day? So that's anywhere from 3-9 per day. My island IS heavily decorated, but I literally spend like twenty minutes every day checking EVERYWHERE to find them until I give up. Is it part of luck? Is it... A seasonal thing? Dependant on how far you are in the game? Idk but it's driving me insane.

Yeah this one is one I probably never do. Because of how RNG the game is with the items in the shops it will make it hard for me to collect every single item in the game especially the 2.0 items. By the way I learned most of them can be crafted. So now you have to get the DIYS to learn them and craft them so that way its in your catalog. I mean this is just too much. I am just going to stick to collecting Villager Photos.
