I started Judo at 41, and left at 47. At the beginning, I was the oldest in the class by far, although close to the Sensei. As the young kids became young adults, they became faster and more technical. I got a little slower, but the injuries kept coming, and made an impact on my mind, and body.

Hi there! I ran into your channel after searching for videos relating to teaching english in Korea and hit subscribe after watching a few of your other videos. I don't know much about judo, but my father was a judo master in his younger days in Korea and this video just clarified a few of the strange stretches my father does while watching television. I used to laugh at him all the time (still do...) whenever he did the "wide-leg pushups" aka bae-mil-gi (as he calls it). I had no idea this was a part of judo warmup routine haha! This video brought back a whole lotta memories for me since I used to join his workouts when I was younger. I will definitely be sharing this video with my dad! Anyways, thank you for sharing! Your videos about teaching in Korea are super informative btw!

+Miraculous Mosquito Right. The guy leading class is true student of the game. Lots of girls do judo in Korea. Not the same percentage as say taekwondo because it's very rough on the body. But still, many girls in judo. I'd say maybe 10-15% are girls.

I practiced TKD here in the US for a few years under a Korean guy. It's strange how so much of the warmups are so similar. Even the counting and bouncing cadence are the same. He was in his 50s and could do the splits with his hands clasped behind his back and touch his chest to the floor like it was nothing.
