I'm a little upset about that bi one... if I don't have to have sex with a man to know I'm straight, why is that suddenly the standard when it comes to women... what if I don't even want to have sex ever? I don't go into relationships like "Oh I wonder what sex will be like" and honestly if I ever find out any partner of mine has that mindset I would be disgusted. How do people know TRULY if they like someone? The excitement of being close to them, thinking about your time with them on repeat, getting nervous when they hold your hand. This reminds me of when my sister came out as a lesbian. She had sat down with my Dad to talk about it, and his response was: “Seriously? I’m sitting here, internally sh***ng myself because I thought something bad happened to you. Only for me to find out that you’re gay. I’m so proud of you for being brave enough to tell me.” I just get so sad whenever parents disown their children simply because of how they identify, it’s just sad to watch.

I have a teacher who is super cool and funny, the whole class loves her and today she told us that she was a lesbian, she was a bit embarrassed but we gave her a hug, she was very happy. Happy pride month🌈

The mom doesn't know that being bi doesn't need to be an experience, it's who you are and it isn't always a sexual thing- it could just be more romantic, and not sexual. Or it's your preference- it's just who you are. You don't need to have sex to have a sexuality.

I did a coming to my parents around my first year of high school before they died. And I won't be ashamed of what I am for them accepting me leaving these words for me. "If we weren't ready to understand you or support your life choices. We wouldn't have been open to having a child in the first place honey. We'll always support and love you."

i hate the idea that you have to be intimate with a gender for your sexuality to be valid. when i was younger, i was never intimate with anybody yet I knew i liked boys and girls. also, sexuality is not purely sex. being connected with someone involves emotional connection as well. if you have an emotional connection or attraction to a person of the same gender, that’s enough to be lgbtq edit: typo 2nd edit: this applies to the aces too!!

As a Christian I want to say God loves all His children and he made everyone the way that they are from birth and doesn't make mistakes. Same sex couples can be seen in hundreds of mammal species, it is completely normal and everyone in the LGBTQ community is valid and loved. (I'm also bisexual, but did not know this until the last couple years). I have done my own digging into the topic over the years through personal conflict and prayer and no longer believe genuine love between any two human beings is in any way a sin (which is what I was raised to believe). Love is the purest emotion.

"are you a child of God?" and "but are you okay?" really got me. I love that he can combine the love of God and his own child and not act like being gay will destroy their life. I have a daughter, and I hope I am able to communicate my love and understanding for her to the point where she doesn't need to feel anxious or scared to tell me these kinds of things.

I have a friend who was once really close to their parents before they came out. They had this whole “my mom is my best friend, I can tell my dad anything” level of closeness going on and I used to be jealous of it bc my parents weren’t like that. But, my friend came out to their parents a few years ago and to both of our surprise, they didn’t accept them. Even though their parents didn’t disown them or kick them out, they told them that no child of theirs would be “gay”. Now, their entire perspective of their parents and family has changed and my friend actively keeps them out of their personal life. This quarantine has especially been a struggle for them since they still live at home but, what seems to hurt them the most is that their parents would rather act like their coming-out never happened. Please don’t have kids if you’re not going to be a parent 100% of the time. Your kids are not supposed to be replicas of yourself or spouse and your kids are not your second chance at living the life you wanted. Your children are their own people and your LGBTQ+ children will encounter hardships for the rest of their lives just because of who they love. You see how the rest of the world treats people within the community and as their parent, someone who chose to bring them into this world, someone who chose to love and raise them, why would you add on to their struggle?

When I was pushed out the closet at 14, my Hispanic moms reaction was the same as the one on 3:48, she drank a lot and we constantly argued and she kicked me out the house multiple times. But now at 24 she’s supportive and our relationship is a lot stronger than what it was. It does get better guys and come out when YOURE ready not with other people pressuring you. It’s extremely selfish to only think about how hard it is for YOU to have a child that’s LGBTQ+. If you really think that’s it’s hard for a parent, imagine what it’s like BEING the child who’s now got to live a tougher life because people will judge and hate them. Your child TRUSTED and was willing to tell you the truth because they love you and this is how you react? YOU don’t have to live with being queer and being hated and judged for the rest of you life, they do. Completely and utterly selfish of parents to react negatively only because “Oh what will Martha say when she finds out? What will Grandma think? What will the church say?” etc. Some people put way too much importance on living life according to what friends, etc. think. Do you live your life for others or for yourself? I’m not LGBTQ+, but I am getting closer to a point in my life where I have to think about having a house and a husband and children, etc. and even though I’m still religious I would NEVER deny my child or treat them any differently if they came out to me. In my eyes I don’t see how it’s difficult to have sympathy and understanding towards another human being. Love and accept your children, that’s all they’re asking for.

My 15yr old daughter came out to me as being "bi maybe lesbian" after watching a "This Is Us" episode together. She cried when she told me and said she had been nervous which surprised me. I've always been so openly accepting of literally everyone but it's still just one of those things that brings such fear. You never really know how someone will react and if they'll accept you. I also found out she didn't even know I was bi myself lol (all my relationships with women had been before she was born). We bought matching hoodies a week later that said "Queer all year" ❤

They live a lie their whole lives in pain... Chances are that within each of your guy's group of friends there is someone who isn't straight. And those chances are pretty high! My son is now 13. When he was 10 he came and said “mom, I Think I’m bisexual”. I didn’t surprise or shock me but he was crying. I was driving so I had to stop the car at the side of the Road, to give him a hug and say “I don’t Care whether you want to kiss boys or girls. I will support you No matter what!” Today he’s not sure of his sexuality and that’s okay. He’ll find out when he’s ready. My point is.... our biggest job as parents is to love and support our children. No matter what! Who ever they get to love themselfs is completly out of anyones hands, but theirs!

I feel bad for all the LGBTQ+ Koreans out there. My own Mother was a beach about my coming out, but at least I don't live in a place where people think you don't exist at all.

I'm just glad my family tried. My mom used to cringe when I'd talk about being with a girl, but she never shamed me or was upset with me. She was just raised conservatively and I appreciate her effort.

Ok 2:30 no the mom is not cool. She is discriminating against bisexuals and that is not how it works. She is not saying real things. There is such a stigma around bisexuals. We DONT have to have sex with a girl AND a guy to be bisexual. It’s a feeling in your heart, just like love. I’m sorry if you can’t understand that, but I am a bisexual woman, and it doesn’t just lead into sex right away. You’ve got to have that emotional feeling. And another thing, people are afraid bisexuals are gonna cheat on their partner just because we’re attracted to both genders. If you don’t have a hold on yourself and what you want that is true. But with me, I can control myself and I will not cheat on my partner because I want only my partner even though I’m attracted to girls as well. It’s just common sense people.

i remember i was at a cadet camp. we stayed their for abt 2 weeks. one day, we were at the woods but it started to thunderstorm and we had to go back to the camp. i sat right beside my friend who i was chill with and we started talking. to make the time pass by, we played would you rather. he said this, "would you rather be a lesbian or date a bisexual guy." and i said, "date a bisexual guy." his response, "okay, hit me up" at that point, i realized he came out to me. i remember having this shocked face. my reactions were "OMG NO WAYY." 1. first guy i met that was part of the lgbtq 2. im surprised he trusted me that much to tell me hes bi 3. yes i did not acknowledge that he wanted to hit me up after that, i asked a bunch of questions abt himself and he was so comfortable telling me. i think my reaction gave him a little bit of comfort. we were 13 and he trusted a person that he only knew for less than 2 weeks. i rlly felt i was lucky and a trustworthy person that was 2 years ago. we didnt talk after we got out of camp, i do wish i did talk to him bc he was a great person. plus, i couldnt date bc #asianparents HAHAHHDKCJC

I still remember when I heard my mom and my older sister talking about how my little sister got a girlfriend at school. Me and my little sister are pretty close so I was kind of sad to find out that she came out to everyone in the family except me. I went and asked her about it later on and she said that I was the first person who she came out to and that I said "okay? And what about it?" while half asleep. She asked if I was okay with it and I said "of course! Why would I care?" but I didn't remember anything when I woke up completely. Apparently my nonchalant attitude gave her the courage to tell the rest of the family... next time I'll have to pay more attention even if I'm half asleep lol Happy pride month everyone!

I recently had this conversation with my sister. She's a mom and one of her friend's kids just came out as trans. We talked about how at the end of the day, you just want your child to be happy, healthy, and productive. The rest doesn't really matter. She loves my nephew no matter what (we both do of course) and if he ever came out to her she'd give him whatever support he needed, because she doesn't want a miserable child or worse, a dead child. Your personal discomfort is not worth ruining your child's life. Happy Pride Month, everyone!

8:22 Yes, there are maybe not many _openly_ non-heterosexual people around, but LGTBQ+ people _are_ everywhere. Many people just do not see us, because we cannot always feel safe to be who we are openly and/or because we are assumed to be straight. So people think there are no LGBTQ+ people around, but how does one know, if one only assumed everyone to be hetero before anything else and if the environment is not safe for people to be openly who they are. The fact that "coming out" culture is there, is a problem. The goal is all about making LGBTQ+ something that is not "special" but rather is normal, just the same way being hetero is "the normal". As an Asian Mom it makes me sad how it's still like this. I was raised by my American Dad for most of my life in the US so I'm more "Americanized" lol but when my kids came out it didn't change them. I'm still strict about grades though 😆.

I really wish my coming out story was like these in this video. Seeing people get relatively positive reactions is so heart warming. My experience was very different and my mom went in my room and put all of my belongings in the trash telling me i didn't deserve any of the stuff she bought me. That included my makeup, clothes, television, and more. It was so upsetting and i could only cry while i was putting all my stuff away and cleaning up the mess she made. I often thought about running away but it wasn't a possibility for me as I didn't have anywhere to go. My mom has slowly started to become more accepting and is trying harder now than ever to understand me and the LGBT community which I'm grateful for. But that experience will never leave my head. I already have to deal with majority of the world against me but to have your own family not accepting is very hard. It's like you're all alone. (I'm pan, enby, and demisexual btw and happy pride month!! If anyone is having a hard time don't hesitate to share your experience. I will try to cheer you up to the best of my ability)
