The whole YOU CAN'T BE GAY/BI IF YOU HAVEN'T- argument is so dumb... It's like telling people HOW COULD YOU SAY YOU'RE STRAIGHT IF YOU'RE A VIRGIN.... Coz not everything has to be sexualized like in porn.

I remember when I was on tinder and I matched with a guy and he assumed that because I was bisexual it meant that I've had a ton of sex because I like both men and women. When I told him that I was a virgin (at the time) he then asked "well how do you know that you're bi then?" And I said "because I've had crushes on both boys and girls and I've had boyfriends and girlfriends" it honestly pisses me off how bisexuals aren't taken seriously

I'm a little upset about that bi one... if I don't have to have sex with a man to know I'm straight, why is that suddenly the standard when it comes to women... what if I don't even want to have sex ever? I don't go into relationships like "Oh I wonder what sex will be like" and honestly if I ever find out any partner of mine has that mindset I would be disgusted. How do people know TRULY if they like someone? The excitement of being close to them, thinking about your time with them on repeat, getting nervous when they hold your hand. THAT is what matters, love is what matters.... Ugh as a bi person myself I am so frustrated rn...

I'm bi as well and I agree. That whole rhetoric is acephobic and invalidating of bi/pan etc. people. Like, people start calling little boys 'ladies men' and shit straight out of the womb but as soon as he turns 12 and comes out he's suddenly too young to know how he feels. I think it comes from the belief that only het is normal and everything else is just a choice. I'm tired honestly

This reminds me of when my sister came out as a lesbian. She had sat down with my Dad to talk about it, and his response was: “Seriously? I’m sitting here, internally sh***ng myself because I thought something bad happened to you. Only for me to find out that you’re gay. I’m so proud of you for being brave enough to tell me.” I just get so sad whenever parents disown their children simply because of how they identify, it’s just sad to watch.

Honestly same sex shipping culture is not mainstream at all in Korea, and where it does exist, it's mostly created by and for straight women. Homosexuality is seen as a kind of taboo porn preference rather than an actual way to exist in real life. It's definitely getting better these last couple years but there is a long way to go.

i hate the idea that you have to be intimate with a gender for your sexuality to be valid. when i was younger, i was never intimate with anybody yet I knew i liked boys and girls. also, sexuality is not purely sex. being connected with someone involves emotional connection as well. if you have an emotional connection or attraction to a person of the same gender, that’s enough to be lgbtq edit: typo 2nd edit: this applies to the aces too!!
@ooof4989
@ooof4989 3 жыл бұрын
it's also incredibly acephobic to expect them to only be able to know if they've have been intimate. Like,, no-
@ooof4989
@ooof4989 3 жыл бұрын
@nick gibbs Simple, you don't have to actually get intimate to know if you feel no sexual attraction. Saying that you need to have sex to know can put a lot of people in situations that might influence them for the rest of their life. It's great for you and your friend that you've come your way to figure things out but there are individuals who don't need to do what you did. It's not whether or not you like sex, it's if you feel sexual attraction or not. I am also a fellow ace person, just so you know.
@ooof4989
@ooof4989 3 жыл бұрын
@nick gibbs even if people are not intimate with the same or opposite gender, they still can know before that who they feel attracted to, whether romantically or in terms of sexual attraction. It's not a requirement to know. Teenagers have crushes without being intimate with anyone at first or never at all. Not everyone finds a partner of the same gender or opposite gender, some only have experience with a certain gender. That still makes them valid in their claim of their sexuality. Sex is not an requirement, even for sexuality. It's harmful for people to be put into a position in which people say they cannot feel a certain attraction to a certain gender because they've never been intimate. It's none of their business, nor does it affect the person asking. They're only putting harmful expectations on especially younger lgbtq+ folks. Figuring out their own sexuality and gender identity is hard enough, saying they should have at least some intimate experience to know only complicates things and can be stressful, even traumatic to some. Lgbtq+ people face enough trauma through discrimination and internalised homophobia/biphobia/transphobia/etc. We don't need to add more.

As a Christian I want to say God loves all His children and he made everyone the way that they are from birth and doesn't make mistakes. Same sex couples can be seen in hundreds of mammal species, it is completely normal and everyone in the LGBTQ community is valid and loved. (I'm also bisexual, but did not know this until the last couple years). I have done my own digging into the topic over the years through personal conflict and prayer and no longer believe genuine love between any two human beings is in any way a sin (which is what I was raised to believe). Love is the purest emotion.

i hate when people (especially christians) paint God as a punisher. God made us. and He made us perfect! love is not a product of the evil and you can never go wrong with loving somebody, and if i am a lesbian, it means that He made me this way for a reason. no one really knows what happens after we die so we can't draw conclusions to whether the Bible is right or not, however if homosexuality does happen to be a sin, my goodness, love and faithfulness i have in Him and Jesus Christ, it will weight it out and He will forgive me

I have a friend who was once really close to their parents before they came out. They had this whole “my mom is my best friend, I can tell my dad anything” level of closeness going on and I used to be jealous of it bc my parents weren’t like that. But, my friend came out to their parents a few years ago and to both of our surprise, they didn’t accept them. Even though their parents didn’t disown them or kick them out, they told them that no child of theirs would be “gay”. Now, their entire perspective of their parents and family has changed and my friend actively keeps them out of their personal life. This quarantine has especially been a struggle for them since they still live at home but, what seems to hurt them the most is that their parents would rather act like their coming-out never happened. Please don’t have kids if you’re not going to be a parent 100% of the time. Your kids are not supposed to be replicas of yourself or spouse and your kids are not your second chance at living the life you wanted. Your children are their own people and your LGBTQ+ children will encounter hardships for the rest of their lives just because of who they love. You see how the rest of the world treats people within the community and as their parent, someone who chose to bring them into this world, someone who chose to love and raise them, why would you add on to their struggle?

Agreed, but it might just be a specific type of stereotypical misunderstanding from a lack of communication and growing up around the LGBTQIA(+?) community, because my mother was the same way. She was more accepting generally, but questioned if I individually was sure of my pansexuality as a virgin at the time of coming out. I entertained the idea for her sake just because I don't like ruling out possibilities and was psychologically intrigued, but as expected in the end we had to have a talk where I explained how that was offensive and was an assumption to be corrected. I was going to suggest it was generational, but before that a younger past therapist of mine asked the same thing, instead linking it to trauma. Luckily I knew of my sexuality way before that so I was able to give her some insight too. 😅

It’s extremely selfish to only think about how hard it is for YOU to have a child that’s LGBTQ+. If you really think that’s it’s hard for a parent, imagine what it’s like BEING the child who’s now got to live a tougher life because people will judge and hate them. Your child TRUSTED and was willing to tell you the truth because they love you and this is how you react? YOU don’t have to live with being queer and being hated and judged for the rest of you life, they do. Completely and utterly selfish of parents to react negatively only because “Oh what will Martha say when she finds out? What will Grandma think? What will the church say?” etc. Some people put way too much importance on living life according to what friends, etc. think. Do you live your life for others or for yourself? I’m not LGBTQ+, but I am getting closer to a point in my life where I have to think about having a house and a husband and children, etc. and even though I’m still religious I would NEVER deny my child or treat them any differently if they came out to me. In my eyes I don’t see how it’s difficult to have sympathy and understanding towards another human being. Love and accept your children, that’s all they’re asking for.

My 15yr old daughter came out to me as being "bi maybe lesbian" after watching a "This Is Us" episode together. She cried when she told me and said she had been nervous which surprised me. I've always been so openly accepting of literally everyone but it's still just one of those things that brings such fear. You never really know how someone will react and if they'll accept you. I also found out she didn't even know I was bi myself lol (all my relationships with women had been before she was born). We bought matching hoodies a week later that said "Queer all year" ❤

"We don't have people like this around" This misconception is the problem. Korea has just as many lgbtq people as other countries, they just shut up about it because they are scared. They live a lie their whole lives in pain... Chances are that within each of your guy's group of friends there is someone who isn't straight. And those chances are pretty high! Make sure you let everyone around you know you'd be ok with them being lgbtq and I swear you'd be surprised to find out things you would've never thought possible. Great reaction! Very important video! ❤

My son is now 13. When he was 10 he came and said “mom, I Think I’m bisexual”. I didn’t surprise or shock me but he was crying. I was driving so I had to stop the car at the side of the Road, to give him a hug and say “I don’t Care whether you want to kiss boys or girls. I will support you No matter what!” Today he’s not sure of his sexuality and that’s okay. He’ll find out when he’s ready. My point is.... our biggest job as parents is to love and support our children. No matter what! Who ever they get to love themselfs is completly out of anyones hands, but theirs!

My mum used to be like that, or maybe she's getting better, but I'm not entirely sure. After I came out, she would still try to convince me to be with a girl and have a family. I'd always remind her that I can still have my own family with my future husband, if I decided to get married. I understand it must be difficult for her, especially her growing up conservative Catholic. But I also appreciate that she's trying and that she loves me no matter what. At least I have 2 older brothers who have families, so that might have helped. My dad just tries to stay away from those types of conversations, but he seem chill. I just wish all parents just remember that they should be there for their children no matter what, as long as they're not hurting anyone. I wish anyone who is struggling coming out the best. Ok 2:30 no the mom is not cool. She is discriminating against bisexuals and that is not how it works. She is not saying real things. There is such a stigma around bisexuals. We DONT have to have sex with a girl AND a guy to be bisexual. It’s a feeling in your heart, just like love. I’m sorry if you can’t understand that, but I am a bisexual woman, and it doesn’t just lead into sex right away. You’ve got to have that emotional feeling. And another thing, people are afraid bisexuals are gonna cheat on their partner just because we’re attracted to both genders. If you don’t have a hold on yourself and what you want that is true. But with me, I can control myself and I will not cheat on my partner because I want only my partner even though I’m attracted to girls as well. It’s just common sense people.

They're not religious people. Real Christian religious people are almost extinct in the West. What you see here is a deformed, mutated version of it. I guess that's what happens when people don't read the holy books they always proclaim about. You don't have to go very far back to see that the church would not accept these practices and many others, they only do now due to the cultural impact of "progressivism" (lack of better word) that has completely smashed Christianity. Now whether that is a good or bad thing is up to debate. It will also be interesting to see whether Islam follows the same path or not.

We talked about how at the end of the day, you just want your child to be happy, healthy, and productive. The rest doesn't really matter. She loves my nephew no matter what (we both do of course) and if he ever came out to her she'd give him whatever support he needed, because she doesn't want a miserable child or worse, a dead child. Your personal discomfort is not worth ruining your child's life. Happy Pride Month, everyone!

8:22 Yes, there are maybe not many _openly_ non-heterosexual people around, but LGTBQ+ people _are_ everywhere. Many people just do not see us, because we cannot always feel safe to be who we are openly and/or because we are assumed to be straight. So people think there are no LGBTQ+ people around, but how does one know, if one only assumed everyone to be hetero before anything else and if the environment is not safe for people to be openly who they are. The fact that "coming out" culture is there, is a problem. The goal is all about making LGBTQ+ something that is not "special" but rather is normal, just the same way being hetero is "the normal". Love is love. Happy pride everyone!

Kind if funny is that if the theories on why people are gay by scientists today are true, muslim and african countries would have the most gay people in total since the average women bears more children and they generally prefer sons. Fun Fact: If all mainland chinese gay people (all of them not just those that are out) formed a country , it would be the 20th biggest country in the world population-wise.

@se--n2667
@se--n2667 2 жыл бұрын
@@loumarie1192 either way, whether they meant korea or the people around them, it can still be true about the people around them as well, co-workers, friends, unless they have discussed this with them, which we cannot know of course so it’s pointless to debate. but just because someone thinks (without knowing/asking/figuring out in other ways) that all their friends, co-workers are straight, does not mean they are. even if they have a male friend dating someone who is female, does not mean they are necessarily straight. that’s the whole deal with heteronormativity, everyone is assumed straight until they ”come out”. saying this from personal experience, as none of my childhood friends, relatives, no one, knew until i told them at the age of 19, they always assumed i was straight (clearly from questions like ’do you have a crush on him’ ’do you have a boyfriend’ etc) and this is something that happens probably more often than not, sadly. I hope and think through these videos their eyes will open more, to see past the normativity and assumptions of heterosexuality. (: again, happy pride! ❤️

I really wish my coming out story was like these in this video. Seeing people get relatively positive reactions is so heart warming. My experience was very different and my mom went in my room and put all of my belongings in the trash telling me i didn't deserve any of the stuff she bought me. That included my makeup, clothes, television, and more. It was so upsetting and i could only cry while i was putting all my stuff away and cleaning up the mess she made. I often thought about running away but it wasn't a possibility for me as I didn't have anywhere to go. My mom has slowly started to become more accepting and is trying harder now than ever to understand me and the LGBT community which I'm grateful for. But that experience will never leave my head. I already have to deal with majority of the world against me but to have your own family not accepting is very hard. It's like you're all alone. (I'm pan, enby, and demisexual btw and happy pride month!! If anyone is having a hard time don't hesitate to share your experience. I will try to cheer you up to the best of my ability)
