While he isn’t the most commonly used character, we were able to get one of the best Kotals in the business to help us out with the guide. Aztec, a formidable competitor, will be our guide today. Aztec was incredibly detailed in his Kotal Kahn guide and that means it will be easy for everyone else to follow along. He was an absolute hero during the time we worked together, and we now have a much deeper appreciation for the character of Kotal Kahn.

The amount of time and effort put into learning combos seems crazy to me. Great stuff, Aztec!

At first it 100% is brutal and takes time. Eventually learning new combos becomes relatively easy. You can even figure out logical combos yourself sometimes if you're thinking critically while learning a character.

I been playing MK11 since it came out and I truly believe that Kotal was given super buffs and powers that were maybe meant for other characters *Kharacters* That should have that fast maneuverability

I love how Kotal's sun move not only damages opponents, and heals Kotal, but it also provides a damage buff. Toss out a disc while standing in the sun and it's an extra 20 damage, or cast it on yourself at sword swing length while you have your opponent trapped in the corner. The startup sucks, but he has good meterless launching options so I always try to throw that out while they're in the air.

If you learn perfectly Kotal then it's a Hacker type character because it's damaging Totem make him a Hacker

You gotta input it fast but you can B22 twice into strings. So, B22 B22 21 DF2 (amp)

I love playing kotal, one thing I hate is that he has no combos. Just the same thing over and over and it’s super short, but still very fun to play.

Kotal kahn advantages: 1. Fairly easy to use 2. Has a good variety and number of moves 3. Can stack buffs, allowing him to do lots of damage while taking less damage 4. Has moves that can heal him 5. Some sword attacks are good for striking the opponent from a safe distance. Kotal Kahn disadvantages: 1. Sickle parry can only parry one attack at any time. 2. Hueyhueyi only connects at very close range. 3. Certain move activations (sword cut, sword quake, totems) take time, leaving Kotal considerably vulnerable. 4. Fatal blow only connects at reasonably close range.

i like to use the launch instead of the blade for df2 it gives higher damage and combo potential

I don’t know why but when I attempt my back 2, 1, the string won’t come out. In fact, it doesn’t even show up in my kombo attack list. Am I missing something?

That's proably because the string is actually back 2, 2. They just made an error with the inputs in the video.

@@DashFight I like his abilities I think they're pretty good and I think he's all around pretty good. His damage potential is outrageous with all the buffs he can get.

you got the inputs wrong in the combo section , the sword launcher is b22 not b21

These combo inputs are bonked lmfao otherwise great video. For new viewers the early combos say: b2,1. This is b2,2. Later there's a combo into a setup combo and it says 2, f1, d1. This is 2,2,1. When it says f1,3,4 it is meant to be S3,4. Hope that helps! They also mixed up multiple df2 and db2. You'll get the hang of these and notice the difference in no time. Edit: also S3,4 in corner into d3 doesn't connect on smaller characters. Also Aztec has an awesome voice.

@@nerishustas9265 in MK the notation S refers to Standing. To input S3,4 you'd simply press 3,4 while not pressing a directional button/and while not crouching/jumping. A standing state.
