In case it wasn't abundantly clear, y'all, this video was JUST FOR FUN and NOT MEANT TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. Please feel free to take a second and touch grass. As should be obvious, I don't stan the majority of groups whose fandoms were included here-- and, in my opinion, I shouldn't HAVE to stan a group to understand why their fandom name "makes sense." The mental gymnastics some of y'all are capable of to rationalize some of these original fandom names would make Simon Biles jealous.

When OnlyOneOf (a 4th gen boy band) didn't have a fandom name, fans called themselves as "OOOfer." (In my opinion, it's really a terrible name) Then, when OnlyOneOf annouced their fandom name as "LyOn" (As in onLYONeof) but fans said that they had a missed opportunity to call their fandom, "OnlyFan."

fun fact, 'moa' was actually the second choice for txt's fandom name! originally it was 'youngone' ('영원' in korean), referencing their youthful concept at the time of their debut and it means 'forever' in korean, as in the fans will be with them forever. but, after they announced it, it was discovered that the name 'youngone' was already taken by snsd's tiffany young for her fans and it was a whole thing back then. and so they changed txt's fandom name to 'moa'.

Noooooo i love ATINY, it stands for ATEEZ and Destiny because ATEEZ was created through so many coincidences to the point that it was fate. Like Yeosang leaving big hit to go to KQ and wooyoung following him cuz he wanted to fail or succeed together. Seonghwa was told about a boy at KQ entertainment who had potential, and he found out later that the boy was the now leader of ateez, Hongjoong. Mingi and Yunho were high school friends and both decided to audition for a company, not knowing which one they were gonna. turns out, they both picked KQ without knowing.

yes it’s a diamond for svt as they help Seventeen shine and they have the whole diamond thing also 17 carat lol im biased also stay ties in so well with skz’s concept a place where people who are wandering (Stray) can stay (STAY), and the reason for the existence of Stray Kids, as the letter 'r' in 'Stray' in the group name is interpreted as "reason". The fans are the reason why and where Stray Kids can stay, hence the slogan : "You make Stray Kids STAY". lol sorry went on a rampage anyways great video

I'm not an aespa fan so I really don't know anything about their lore or anything, I've only casually listened to their title tracks, but for literal YEARS i thought their fandom name was "naevis" 😭it wasn't until the rumors of sm debuting naevis as an ai idol did i realize that it wasn't the fandom name... imagine my surprise to find out their official name is "My" which i personally think is the worst fandom name rn

gurll some of the names you give these fandoms. YG for XG lmao. Well, XG be creating YG vibe better than YG these days (jk, dont kill me YG stands) For BTS, their original name has Bulletproof in it, so their debut period was military coded, hence Army. And for Seventeen, the 13 members has a formation that form the shape of a 💎 , which is a bit of a stretch and make me wonder what would have happened if they debuted as 17 as originally intended, but it also give us one of the prettiest lightsticks to ever exist so i wont complain! Bitzy actually sounds so cute though! Amazing video. Its been a while since i check in, but you seem to be doing greatt! ❤

I found out after producing this video (which happened several weeks ago, prior to channel launch) that XG actually did some training sessions at the YG studios before they debuted. I got a kick out of that. Thanks for the other bits of BG trivia as well! I don't stan BTS or SEVENTEEN and will openly acknowledge knowledge gaps on their lore. Always more to learn. u need to change TWS's fandom name, help, they are the newly debuted group in pledis (seventeen's junior group) AND THEIR fandom name is literally 42 the number, (BUT its read as "sai" in korean which means relationship i think, referring to the relationship between us fans and the idols)

My favourite group (AMPERS&ONE) debuted less than 200 days ago, and up until their 2nd album, we didn't have a fandom name. They made a few options and asked fans to vote. The highest vote and our fandom name is... ANDEAR. 😭😭😭

I was the one who mentioned TXT having to change their fandom name in community posts and fandom names in general being better for Koreans. They also often allude to more than a group's name: it could be an inside thing. Also I have a few other additions: * I have a feeling SM may've been considering the spelling "mæ" for MYs but feared mispronunciation * Midzy's name is a play on the Korean word for "trust". I never associated that name with anything bad and then the slang term "mid" took off. I still don't see it as bad. * Fearnot's name is also a pun on "pieona" meaning "to bloom" * Orbit can also be interpreted as "o bit", or "o light". But that's not the primary meaning to me, Loonatics seems to follow Western fandom name logic. * I don't get the Plory name hate... Meanwhile I have four imaginary groups and have no idea what to name the fandoms for two of them. But I have the two other groups, Volta and Perseid (they're interlinked like NCT units), sharing a joint fandom name of Pulsar: it connects to Volta through its "motion and electricity" theme and Perseid through its space concept.

3:34 Highly disagree. Le Sserafim is actually a pretty smart name. As I think we all know, 'Le Sserafim' is an anagram for the phrase 'I'm Fearless'. However, the word seraphim (pronunciation of sserafim) means 'an angelic being, regarded in traditional Christian angelology as belonging to the highest order of the ninefold celestial hierarchy, associated with light, ardour, and purity' so it can also be said to be 'La Seraphim'. This name is not only sensible but also relevant to their 'fallen angel' theme of albums like 'Unforgiven'. Never typed this much in my life but the insult triggered me personally.

It's not even pronounced like the actual English word tiny - also u said Ateez's name makes no sense but it does have a meaning, it means A-teenager-Z which means they're a group of teenagers who will do everything they can from A to Z, which also makes sense since in the lore they're teenagers yk

I’m a fan of a group basically no one had heard of but desperately needs to called ONF but it’s pronounced “On and Off.” Their fandom name is Fuse and I think it’s one of the best in the industry. So cute! I’m also a fan of the group A.C.E, with the fandom “Choice because we chose them. Cute. But my ults, hands down, is SHINee. We’re Shawols which stands for “SHINee World.” It’s got kind of a…weird mouthfeel but the whole thing is cute. With the bonus fact that their diamond shaped lightstick is called the “shating star.” My ult is Taemin and we’re called Taemints, which I love and also stems from how, as a wee 14 year old, he’d hand out candies to noonas to try to get them to check out SHINee. (Except now he’s calling us Jjakkgoongs is super hard to spell and that is probably wrong, and not as cute. But hey, whatever Taemin calls me goes!)

We're (saying 'we're' very lightly because altho ive been an army since 2018, I haven't kept up with them since their ptd era--besides solo works--and don't really do much within the fandom..) called ARMY because we stand guard for them and fight with them in older MV based lore (not universe lore). BTS also stands for (B)ang(T)an (S)onyeondan which means *Bulletproof* Boyscouts! To non stans it might seem a little odd especially considering their newer songs and most popular songs (outside of the fandom) don't reflect the initial meaning too well (in fact some people even think we were called that because of how dedicated the fandom is, for better or for worst) so the confusion is understandable

Lol I don't hate the f(x) fandom name QUITE as much because "Me and You" is the name of one of my favorite Nero tracks, which was released in 2010 and thus coincidentally aligns with 2nd gen. 😂 I will add them to the list of fandoms to rename next time! I already have a good idea but I'll save it for pt 2 😘

Nah. Gold is ranked in KARATS, with a K, which is a fractional measure of purity, and "17K" isn't a commercially available rank; it skips from 14K to 18K. Diamonds are measured by the carat, with a C, which is a unit of mass (1C = 200mg), not purity. To make this more confusing, evidently Brits spell the "karat" unit used for gold the same way as the "carat" unit for diamonds, despite the fact that they measure totally different things.

i might be biased seeing as i am an army but i do love the fandom name and it does make a lot of sense! seeing as bts is bangtan sonyeondan in korean which means bulletproof boyscouts, and their first logo was a bulletproof west (currently a door that if you combine it with armys logo becomes a shield), their official greeting is holding up a "gun" gesture with their hands and their light stick is legitimately an "army bomb"... like i just think they've played into it so well and it all goes along well together:] now if were talking about our official government name i might be more willing to admit that it doesn't make *that* much sense (well it kinda does but like more so if you look at bts around their debut era and relating to their concept at the time, now a days you could still argue that it works but like... eh its whatever)... but um nobody really uses that anyway💀

Because Itzy's name is actually a Korean derived name unlike most groups that has English origins so 있지 (Itzy) which means "to be, to have, to exist" having 믿지 (Midzy) which means "to trust, to have faith, or to believe in" is kinda clever IMO.

Because it's not in English at all. Those are just the English letters for Korean words. So just because a few of you can't let go of a children's nursery rhyme, doesn't mean it in anyway factors in to what a Korean group decides their fans will be called.
