Love this Krishna Das. Yes, I will donate. Honored to make a contribution to all the Godness that came from Maharaji, Nareem Karoli Baba, Ram Dass movement. I've had deep and effective spiritual experiences from Ram Dass's talks (I listened daily for first 2 years) and your Kirtan. A ten minute Hare Krishna Kirtan with you will lift my spirits and center me within minutes. Thank you, peace ☮💜 🥰🐯🔥

I just find not getting too involved with people, sexual or even too much socially, keeps me God focused. One time i began a romance online- i never even met him personally- but how agonizing it was to be pulled away from God by getting involved with this persons vibes. One day i was walking in the park and i realized that it was killing me inside. I went home and emailed him that i could not do this. I felt my spiritual life was restored by that choice. I have made my choice, no regrets. When i do feel sexual energy, i practice what my teacher said, gather that energy and bring it upwards to the crown chakra. It goes to God and away.

@@Sndkq there may be other methods, but the one I learned was simply to direct your attention to the top of your head. Attention IS energy. Move it from the lower region to the highest and keep it there for as long as need be, as many times as needed. This actually uses the energy to accelerate spiritual growth.

I think what this doesn't cover is how sex can be both beautiful or destructive.The whole point of the spiritual approach is not simply awareness. It is also discernment. Seeing the deeper qualitative aspect of our actions. Sex on its own is neutral - its the way we engage in it, what we bring to the experience that makes it holy or not so holy. Sex in a loving relationship with a wife or girlfriend is very different to going to a prostitute or having an affair. There is a different quality to the actions. Both satisfy the natural urge - but one does so in a healthy life affirming way - the other doesn't. The spiritual path is trying to learn to engage in life fully and completely - but in a healthy life affirming way. Thus I think it can be very healthy to go through a period of celibacy as part of our Sadhana practice where the aim or goal is to refine our relationship with sex. Purging perhaps some negative habits or cravings related to it so it can reemerge as a healthy positive experience that enriches our lives - rather then diminishing it.

For a man who spent a good part of his life in search of truth, he (Krishna Das) has but limited knowledge of the internal as well as the eternal self. He has certainly been experiencing the yogic bliss but in a state of consciousness that does not transcend the yogic plane (its difficult to explain the tattvam or parikrama in English, it has its limitations) cause his explanations, his experiences that I hear is evident in itself. That said he has the grace of Lord Krishna, for sure!

Knowledge is secondary to a devotee. He is mainly a Bhakta, and should be seen as such. His “knowledge” is from what he’s experienced. Beyond that, very few people have, unless they are copy pasting it out of a book. As Neem Karoli Baba said: he who knows God knows everything

When you say "following" what exactly do you mean?...how far are they in the 'following a holy person' rabbit hole. Can you take names of those "Holy Individuals" that your acquaintances are following. 'Coz I think one would do well to stay clear of cults. I would say that in India we have this thing that there are No Lone Wolfs....there has to be a lineage associated with them. Like for example, Dalai Lama is not a lone wolf...he has a big lineage behind him going back centuries. That is generally the norm for holy men. If they don't have a lineage but are lone wolfs then they are likely a suspect. Eg: Osho

That story about king Janaka is not interpreted correctly. The actual state of his consciousness is shown here. He is a Divine personality, a Saint. Only a Saint can appear to do worldly actions but actually is beyond worldly actions or attachment. Like Arjun who killed many people on the battlefield. Arjun's being was immersed in the infinite ocean of The Divine abode of Golok with Krishna. Saints have a dual perception of the divine and the material worlds but the majority of there being is with God. King Janak was so absorbed in God that the flame was unfelt. That is the idea here.

The right answer is that Vedic Dharma teaches ONLY VERY FEW Yogis or Sanyasis are celibates for entire life. They are elevated souls who practice self control and renunciation of all sensual pleasures because they are mindful of full time devotional service to the supreme. Vast majority go through FOUR STAGES IN A LIFE SPAN: Ashrama in Hinduism is one of four age-based life stages discussed in Indian texts of the ancient and medieval eras. The four ashramas are: Brahmacharya (student), Grihastha (householder), Vanaprastha (retired) and Sannyasa (renunciate). The Ashrama system is one facet of the Dharma concept in Hinduism. The important thing to remember is that sexual intimacy must be ONLY with a spouse for having children. Promiscuity leads to animalistic behavior and cause bad Karma - pain and suffering.

I have to strongly disagree with celibacy in the catholic priesthood being linked to sexual abuse. The vast majority of people who sexually abuse others are not celibate. Predators are just that predators and their sexual life or lack thereof doesn't influence their behavior. You are right Krishna Das about sexual energy having to be dealt with and/or channeled somehow.

Elizabeth Kuebler Ross said, "love brings up anything unlike itself." I believe sex has this effect. The orgasm is a bomb of purification and we should be aware of this fact. In other words it brings up all our denied stuff. I also suggest listening to Barry Long's CD, Making Love.

The animal body humans have is having all the attributes of an animal like anger, hatred, jealousy, hunger, sex drive, competition, insecurity, fear of the dark and unknown, negative thoughts, etc. Human mind is always designed to create fear and to protect the body and serve the body centric interests. But the life energy (atma or the spirit or the divine self) feels you are just wasting your time doing sex and other stuff. Sexual drive is a craving of the body which gets triggered with they see something related to it, for eg., a girl and a boy kissing each other on the street, etc. That is why Indian yogis went into the forest where they forget all those things because they do not get to see anything related to that. So, Whenever you get a thought, you have to question yourself whether the thought has come from your animal body or your divine self. you have to give yourself an appropriate answer and the moment you do that, the thought (be it of anger, hatredness, sex) just vanishes away . You need to look at yourself as an observer and not as a person in the body

So if we don't indulge in the pleasure we won't fall into the pain?...generally men lose more energy engaging in sex. Some men retain the fluid and feel much better. It is life energy that is lost for both. Some sexual practices are not goal oriented and can bring youthfulness...
@SumiOccult
@SumiOccult 4 жыл бұрын
The thing is that it should happen naturally. Not by suppression. Keep on doing your spiritual practices. A time will gradually come when you will have no interest in sexual indulgence. Just like when you were kid you were interested in your toys and dolls, but as you have grown up, today however beautiful toy is on display before you, it will not entice you. It happens gradually. In Your spiritual practice time will come where you will fail to differentiate between male and female.

I am a Westerner. Perhaps is just different for me. I have been celibate for over 10 years in regard to intimacy with another person. Of course there have been moments within that 10 years. where a dream has simulated a desire for an orgasm for which I had obliged ... sometimes without fully being aware ... but other than that I have not really been interested. I am not sure this is healthy. I am not sure what is going on. If you could offer up any sort of insight, I would be appreciative.
