I can understand the criticism about keeping this private, but something tells me that KSI did it because he knew that if it was private, the advice would go in one ear and out the other. Some people just don't take gentle advice seriously and need some tough love.

if the last loss really pushed him into shape, i wonder if ksi's rant on the last loss made him nervous about losing the fight so he fought more passively because he made it really clear in his response that he holds ksi's word at a very high level in his mind, I wonder if more positive reinforcement would work on deji from ksi cause I bet his coaches already beat him into shape and he won't have as much anxiety about losing the fight and letting down his brother
@Octaphea

@@peraraptor6943 I agree. Everyone thinks tough love etc works on everyone… I think what really taps into Deji is postive reinforcement rather than negative. You could tell Deji didn’t believe in himself and his fitness. That is why he didn’t punch because he didn’t want to gass out. As good defensively as he looks, he wasn’t comfortable, and that’s why you see Alex talking to fans even during the fight. It seemed that too many things were going through deji’s head. Honestly I would like to see Deji again, on an undercard, no pressure conference or if so, stay quiet and just answer the questions, no face to face, no videos, just work. Because honestly add his aggression from vinnie fight (even tho it was meh) plus the defence from this fight, I think that’s a very decent YT boxer.

I agree with a lot of what JJ said, however I can’t wrap my head around why he kept saying Deji was ready and was working harder this time around only to turn around and say the opposite in his video. Obviously he’s going to support his brother leading up to the fight, it just seems unnecessary from him to hype him up like he did when apparently he didn’t think he was working hard enough and it was some kind of facade. Just my opinion though.

he is saying deji did train hard but did not had the right mentality maybe. because on Christmas he didn't have to do the run, it was just an extra thing JJ told him to do, its all up to his mentality on whether he wants to run or not because there isn't a coach to scold or force him. This was also before deji found daley so his perspective on boxing training was different back then too. Maybe without daley he wouldn't have worked as hard since there isn't someone to push him and motivate him. It has to come from his heart and not someone else's mouth. So yea maybe JJ is tryna say he worked hard but not for the right reasons or for himself.

I think I have an idea as to why KSI was addressing Deji on camera... Deji doesn't seem to change his habits and attitude until public/fan perception of him changes. We saw with the whole family/Christmas drama that it was only when JJ addressed the situation in a YT video, that Deji started becoming open to letting JJ "back in the family" and actually sort things out. I think JJ feels that when he speaks privately to Deji he gets less of a reaction from Deji compared to when he does it online. US (the fans) are the people that Deji wants to impress and create a perception too, not JJ. I don't know if that made much sense but in simple terms, Deji doesn't change his ways and attitude until he's called out for it publically.

@@bryanmoreno326 whilst he hasnt boxed in a while, thats not because he hasnt wanted to. its because other things are taking off for him right now, like touring and sidemen extras (side+ etc). if he were to decide to fight soon, he would need to dedicate at least three months of straight boxing at a camp, which would halt his music and put the sidemen under a lot of pressure because they'd have to prerecord 12 sidemen sundays for those three months that ksi cant actually be there to be in the videos. that said, when he does box, he does take it deadly seriously. he trains somewhat harder than deji (the christmas day comment he made) and he isnt even fighting. because he isnt fighting yet, im sure that he will box again because he'd make sure he at least tries to beat jake, he wouldnt let him say all this shit about him without following any of it up.

Ngl I don’t agree with how KSI went about this. Before the fight KSI was singing Deji’s praises. Saying he’s going to “surprise a lot of people” and “his opponent’s f*cked”. But now he apparently didn’t have faith in Deji’s boxing ability before the fight, hence why he told him to drop out. And if that’s the case, why didn’t he make a video before the fight calling out his lack of discipline? I know it’s important to be told the harsh truth but you do it behind closed doors and face to face. I just can’t get behind bashing your brother online for millions to see. The public nature of all this just seems unnecessary.

But it's exactly because of the potential he showed before the fight that made KSI disappointed. Deji actually put in the effort to work on his physicality and endurance. I understand what jj’s message is and in the past making these videos were the way to get to deji cos he was just surrounded by people that just kissed his ass, but I feel like deji has matured and got to a stage as an individual where shit like this from jj, isn’t necessary. Yes, it’s tough love, yes he’s looking out for him but there’s a line when it goes from brotherly love to an unprovoked attack. He was absolutely spot on with his video on the Vinnie hacker fight but I feel like he crossed it with this video cos you can see deji really tried for this and actually put in the hard work for this fight, but was scared. That’s all it was. He froze and was scared to let his hands go cos in his head it would result in him gassing out. That’s all it was. But if jj rly wanted to look out for him, he would’ve said this to deji privately, not made a whole rant on him. The thought and message was there (so clearly there) but the delivery in my opinion was very poor and unnecessary. Just imagine deji’s confidence and mood now. You could tell Jj was exhausted, but that’s because he decided to do EXTRA work (he went for a jog when his camp said not to) and therefore wasn’t able to spar at the highest level. When you’re in a training camp you listen to your trainers, any extra work should be given the go ahead through them first in my opinion.

I've been watching Deji for 10+ years now but I don't understand how everyone is giving Deji any more chances. Deji himself as a person simply is not mature enough to understand what's wrong with his work ethic. Firstly, throughout all the conferences and face2face, all his answers are just filled with arrogance without any type of proof to back it up, and even in defeat he still refuses to be humble. Deji definitely worked a lot harder this time but he didn't work out at all during Vinny's fight so that's not really saying much, and in all of his performances his fight with Jake Paul is arguably the best he's ever done. The only way Deji will win a fight is if his mentality changes.

I didn’t watch him to see a b*tch cry n complain n put in 0 f effort into new challenges etc tho. Now he’s lost to someone who had just boxed a few months when Deji first started boxing 4 years ago!!! So what exactly should he take from this video. That he is a wasteman? At the end of the day he choked in the performance but he did work at least to some degree and he definitely didnt slack with calvin or daley so at the end of the day if he likes boxing he should box and who the fuck cares about ksi or his fans. I dont think he should headline tho but still. Also i hope he told him all that in person otherwise thats kinda messed up. If my bro did this to me id absolutely talk to him about it and if he would be a dick like that id stop caring about his opinion not gonna lie.

@@NIVADYT yes but judging from the fact that he did drop 20kg he did work hard. He didnt lose because he didnt work hard enough he lost because he didnt have enough fight iq and because he choked. Also yes maybe for the vinnie fight he wouldnt listen to jj but i dont think thats the case now. If he doesnr listen to him in person now he wouldnt listen to him in the video. And to be honest, from that 10 minut video the only piece of advice ive heard is that he needs to change his mentality but thats not much of an advice. It does help but is it worth slandering your brother for 10 minutes after a loss when all he wants is you to be proud of him? Idk man seems harsh to me but hey what do i know its not like i know them personally 🤷‍♂️ maybe youre right 😅

As an older brother, sometimes you have to say what needs to be said, even if it’s harsh. Especially when you can see everyone around your brother is kissing his ass and sugarcoating everything. However, the way JJ is going about it, and how he did it before is not the right way imo. Doing it publicly to millions, and low-key bragging about your own success snd comparing it to your brothers failures just comes across as disingenuous and selfish. People saying JJ has it do it publicly otherwise Deji won’t listen, is that really the case though? Deji said he appreciated it the first time, but really I just think he was saving face from the embarrassment. We didn’t really see massive improvement. Deji still lost to another debutant, bang average fighter. Look at the improving Jake has made compared to Deji since their first fight. Can you imagine Deji vs Tyrone Woodley. Some people just have it, and others don’t. In a sport like boxing it takes more than just hard work and love for the sport. It’s clear Deji has hit his ceiling, and is probably in boxing for all the wrong reasons. It’s good for JJ to point that out, but the way he’s doing it seems more for his own personal gain, than for Dejis
@jeddysteve8330

I think he's using publicity as a form of embarrassment. The point is to make Deji feel publicly embarrassed to the point that he becomes frustrated with himself and attempts to prove KSI wrong. I don't agree with what approach, as not everyone responds to public embarrassment the same way, but I still believe the callout is in good faith. It's just two different people with two different mindsets; what works for one person isn't going to work for another.

KSI went around this the complete wrong way. 1) 90% of this was frustration and barely any praise at his growth 2) its public. How does this affect Deji’s reputation. Now its just reinforcing to the masses that Deji is still a little boy that needs to be told what to do by his older brother when he is making a living for himself and securing his welfare and getting better. If this was a Telltale game the caption would definitely read “Deji will remember that”. 3) its narcissistic. Hes his older brother not his dad. The older brother is supposed to be able to meet the younger brother halfway, not lecture them like their father. Trust me that is not the way to get your bro to respect you. They dont wanna hear about how you compare to them and how you do wrong jn correlation to what they do right. It only seems like your reinforcing yourself as an archetypal key to success when its different for everyone.

He already stated in the video that he doesn’t care how we feel about his criticism of Deji, because he thinks he needs to hear it. If you’ve followed these two you would also know why KSI doesn’t do private communication with Deji anymore. A few years ago Deji had some issues with KSI and KSI begged Deji to keep it private, but Deji refused and even dropped a diss track on him. Deji even recorded and released private fights that they had. KSI makes these type of videos because he says it’s the only thing that gets through to Deji. The 3rd point is just wrong, because you aren’t the standard for how siblings interact with each other lol. Everyone’s relationships with their siblings are different, and they all have different dynamics. This type of dynamic might not work for you, but it could work for Deji and others. I don’t really see anything wrong with KSI using himself as an example for Deji to follow. Deji looks up to him, and KSI has already been where Deji is trying to go. The point of that segment wasn’t KSI’s success, but the mindset that he’s had that’s allowed him to be successful. I think KSI was wrong for making fun of Alex and trying to discredit all his work though.
