@@nelson1111 those people that rank guitarist they don't look for a true guitarist, they are judging on speed of the hands, David Gilmour has slow hands, he can't play with speed and flash, he will tell you himself that he gets his sound from how he bends his notes, he is proof you don't have to have fast hands to play guitar, if someone truly judged on sound and how they sounded live and how clearly the notes are placed, he would be number one to stay for life.

The backing vocals are from "Clare Torry". She is the featured vocalist in the following song "The Great Gig in the Sky". Many Pink Floyd songs are not meant to be listened to as individual songs. Time and the great gig in the sky are meant to be played as one song. In fact, Dark side of the moon is meant to be played in it's entirety.
@DavidJarvis
@DavidJarvis 5 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Listening to any individual track from 'The Wall' will be even more challenging because the audio might just cut off at the end; many of the songs across all of Pink Floyd's catalog, in fact, are supposed to roll into the next song uninterrupted.

Agree that The Great Gig in the Sky should be your next song if you felt the background vocals here. It comes directly after this song and it’s less a “song” and more a musical interlude but its fantastic(it’s actually my favorite song of anything anywhere by anyone ). However, I’m surprised at the lack of people requesting the song Money. It’s one of Floyd’s more popular and more upbeat songs and it’s very dynamic. I think it’d be a song you’d really enjoy

The singer is Claire Torry who also sings Great Gig In the Sky. She improvised Great Gig in 2 and 1/2 takes. The company only paid her £30 session fee. Years later the group bumped into Claire in a cafe. When they heard what she got paid they gave her a large cheque but years later she got co-writing credit and sued the company and won an undisclosed sum. She wasn't angry or blamed Pink Floyd as she often sung with them after.

Pink Floyd didn't make songs, they made albums. There is always a continuous theme to all the songs in the given album, like a story unraveling along the way. You can try "Dogs" by them, from their "Animals" album (very underrated and my favorite btw)

There were four female backup singers on this song, Doris Troy, Lesley Duncan, Lisa Strike, & Barry St. John. Wasn't able to find who the main backup vocalist was. My guess it was Doris Troy, who's main style is R&B, & the only American backup singer. I could be wrong. Either way, thx for reacting to this song, react to The Great Gig In The Sky or High Hopes, although you should really listen to the entire Dark Side Of The Moon album now beginning to end. Time is a lyrical masterpiece. Considered one of the greatest lyrical performances of all time. How do you write a song about a subject as all encompassing as time without it coming off as cheesy and cliche or convoluted and overly wordy? Yet Roger Waters (the lyricist and one of Pink Floyd's two vocalists) did exactly that.

Suddenly a small but bright spot light is on the drummer,his back is to you and he starts playing small bongo like drums . All you can see is him playing this intro.
