This was very helpful, thank you for sharing. I had a hydraulic line split open on me and ended up losing a lot of fluid, so I figured it was a good time to go ahead and change the HST fluid since I was already down about 1/3rd of where it should have been.

I just did the 50 hour service on my BX2680 this afternoon. The transaxle filter strainer screen was extremely clean, I figured I'd find a bunch of stuff on it like many other videos I've seen but it hardly had anything in it, so hopefully the filter actually caught most of it. I did the engine oil/filter, hydraulic fluid/filter, the strainer screen in the transaxle, and both fuel filters. I might do the front axle this weekend, and haven't decided what to put in it yet, says you can use either hydraulic fluid or gear oil. The hardest part about the whole service was the stupid fuel filter under the tractor. Although, that filter did have a lot of crap in it, the one up by the engine looked pretty good...I found a video about a cold brew coffee filter that will drop right into the fuel filler neck on the fuel tank, and I got one and put in mine, hopefully that'll catch any contaminants before they enter the fuel tank. I'll keep an eye on the fuel filter under the tractor and see if it picks up anything else from the fuel.

I have the same torque wrench. My understanding has always been that a torque wrench should never be used to loosen nuts, only tighten them to the proper torque. I have always followed this "rule" and I have never had a problem with the wrench. I have owned just the one for 15 years or so. I can't state as fact that this would help you out, but I have to wonder. Maybe give it a try? Cheers, and thanks for the video!

Hey thanks for watching my video and commenting. I have definitely drawn some attention to myself on this video. The 1/2 inch drive torque wrench I’m using is faulty and no longer works. It was never used as a breaker bar but now it is as that’s all it’s good for now. I don’t have a 1/2 inch drive breaker bar and I use this instead now. I do have a new 1/2 drive torque wrench now, but at least it keeps people talking. lol. Thanks again for taking the time to reach out. Cheers, Mike.

Nice torque wrench breaker bar, good way to fuck up everything when putting it pack together
@maintenancewithmike
@maintenancewithmike 2 жыл бұрын
Not really. The 1/2 inch torque wrench is actually faulty and the ratchet doesn’t work any longer. Wheel bolts were tightened to spec so who cares if you use a half inch drive or 3/8 drive. What’s your reason to not use a torque wrench on wheel lugs?
@stevegrimeszz
@stevegrimeszz 2 жыл бұрын
@@maintenancewithmike if the wrench still works and your using it to loosen bolts, it destroys the spring inside the tool and pulls the tool out of calibration. You are suppose to send your torque wrench out for calibration after a certain amount of uses, that way 10ft lbs is 10ft llbs and not 80. 😬
@maintenancewithmike
@maintenancewithmike 2 жыл бұрын
@@stevegrimeszz Yes your correct but as I said the wrench was already not working and needs replacement. But yes using a standard 1/2 drive to loosen the bolts would have been better for the video. Thanks for the comment!👍

The Kubota service manual says to never use a flammable solvent to clean the screen. Only use soap and water and to let it dry naturally. Solvents in the oil will contaminate and are combustible.

@maintenancewithmike

Thanks for asking. These are the new style from Kubota and they are called an R14. Good grip in the wet and if you get into muddy areas they WILL get you out but they will leave a good rut! They last a long time and are surprisingly good on grass and gravel.

Thanks for reaching out. I put the exact amount stated in the manual with filter change back in and it was just below the top of the cross hatch area. Once the tractor was warm I turned it off and checked again and it was right at the top of the cross hatch. So I’d say perfect. Another subscriber did point out to me the manual does say not to use a solvent to clean the strainer so next time I’m just going to wipe it down with a clean rag and put it back in. Funny thing is I asked a local dealer what they do to clean the strainer and they said they spray it off with brake clean. Lol. Me, I’m just going to wipe it off and call it good. Cheers, Mike

U kids that want us all to go to metric are just dumb. it is not just 11/3 L but 11.3 l is 1 gal. It comes in 1 gal jugs. just just use three of them. By the way u dont have to take the wheel off to get the screen out. It comes out with ease once u get it loose. One other thing u dont need to do this every time u do fluid. Just ever 1000 hr or more., I ask and the man said he doesnt bother with it until they have at least 2000 hr on them. I took it out for the first time at 1200 hr. It has a little stuff on it but not much. Will not touch it again for another 1200 hr or 4 yr which ever comes first.
