Hammer Mohammed Kudus will NOT be sold this summer insist West Ham. That’s the news from West Ham’s top source who informed Claret & Hugh’s Sean Whetstone this morning.
A £85m buyout clause for this summer expired at midnight on 1 July without being activated and will not be activated again next summer. This means that any club wishing to bid for the Ghanaian will not have their bid automatically accepted.
Any bids that come in subsequent in this transfer window will be rejected. It had first been thought that the released clause would not be activated until next summer, but the club were desperate not to alert other clubs that he was available for a short period of time this summer.
Sky Sports Germany’s transfer expert Florian Plettenberg revealed last week that the Kudus release clause was in fact active this season. Fortunately the leaked details didn’t result in a firm offer for the player who is believed to be happy to remain at West Ham.

Am unsure, I think we’d hold out for more. 100m and we’d do it but don’t think anyone will offer that. Very confident he is here next season.

@@rogercooke4589 hardly as mess. We have players in the first 11 that any club in the league would have. Bowen, kudus pacqueta. We also have good players like Alvarez Areola and emerson. We need a couple of centre backs, a right back, left winger and centre forward. Plus promote a couple of the youth. We have a good team to build on. We scored a lot of goals last season but we Poor defensively.

It protects the club, you don’t want someone coming in 4 hours before transfer window closes and buying your player and you’ve no time to replace him As covered, it’s active again next summer.

The fact that Ex and Sean didn’t know doesn’t mean it wasn’t leaked by West Ham, it just means it wasnt leaked by Sullivan. This journo is in with Tim. He may have his own agenda for preferring 85mil to Kudos?

Agree, I covered this in the video last week that perhaps Tim may be open to selling Kudus because we couldn’t sell Paqueta, could be 2+2=10 there though, it’s just a possible scenario rather than one I feel confident with Is that your vibe, that perhaps Tim leaked it initially for that reason?

@@HammersChat yes, mainly because of the source. Like you say, if it was the agent everyone would know, if it was Sullivan then Ex and Sean would know. The fact it was Tim’s guy and it got confirmed suggests it’s Tim and if he’s not getting 85mil for Pac-Man he’s willing to put Kudos in the shop window. Obviously we don’t have all the facts but that fits the facts we do have. Now I don’t want Kudos to go but if true you have to admire Tim’s ruthlessness, his confidence to improve the squad with the money and the fact he would have made 50mil profit in one season on one player.

With the transfer windows of Serie A, La Liga, and Bundesliga all opening July 1st, does anyone else find this clause a little strange? This would leave Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich unable to get a sniff of purchasing him. This would have to be an enormous oversight by Kudus' agent to allow West Ham to include this clause, wouldn't it, or am I missing something blatantly obvious???

I knew he would be here for next season, dont make sense to have a release clause activated after only 1 season. Just hope we get Europe for next season to maybe tempt him to stay with us as next summer window all the big clubs will be queing up for him if he has another banger of a season.

@@kramzaid9601 the clause Will be active again next summer mate, £85m again. It just may have a deadline attached to it but that hasn’t been disclosed anywhere at the moment. We have a year to, as you say, negotiate with him and increase the release clause, if we wish.

What's the point of having a secret release clause? The player's agent will just tell everyone. Why would a player negotiate a release clause and then not tell anyone? None of this makes any sense.

Agree, for next season the keepers are sorted as well. Still quite a bit of tinkering to do but I feel very comfortable that those we WANT to keep, will still be here come Christmas Day.

@@HammersChat would like to see a RB , a couple of CBs , we need AM cover and a DM to cover Alvarez and obviously a striker brought in . Obviously this will only strengthen the squad to a point , but we don't have unlimited resources. It's going to take a few seasons to get us up to full strength .

I wonder if release clause’s, with the player’s & agent agreement, can be amended so the £85m to a higher figure? We obviously, and rightly, believe he’s worth more than the original figure.

Don’t think so but I’ll double check, I believe they can buy him but he just doesn’t move until 1/7 if that makes sense? For example we could bid and ‘buy’ a player from Leeds United in November but they’re just not a WHUFC player until 1st of January when the window opens. But let’s say they couldn’t do that, they’d have a day (1/7) to buy him which would be easy anyway as they’d have the personal terms etc all wrapped up before that date. Good question though, a thinker

@@HammersChat Cheers, yeah, makes sense. I just wondered if West Ham are under any obligation to listen bids until a window has officially opened. I guess the Guilerme deal shows that clubs can progress a deal if both sides are willing, but that could potentially all be administrative ie. Everything is done and binding, but legally and from the rules perspective it would be as if the bid came in the contracts, got signed and the player got registered at 00:00.01 on 01/07. Also would they have a day? If the clause expires at midnight on the 01/07, then bids could only be made up until 23:59.59 on 30/7 which is prior to the window opening no?

There’s a lack of clarity now with when it actually expires, Ex has said last night (so the evening of the 1st of July) but Romano has said it expired evening of 30th of June but he’s also credited Ex so there’s a misunderstanding or incorrect wording by one of them!

I'm guessing one of them is interpreting midnight on 01/07 as what comes after 23:59 on 30/06 and the other as what comes after 23:59 on 01/07 ( which would of course be midnight on 02/07). Would seem a little random to expire a clause one day into a month instead of at the end of a month

Yeah that’s how I’ve taken it as well, it can be confusing. I still get confused if someone says ‘next Sunday’ So is that THIS Sunday as in 5 days or NEXT as in 12? Everyone interprets the same thing different

@@HammersChat Missed that, cheers. I have a feeling that Mo is going to explode (in a good way) this season. Especially if we bring in the right players for him to work with. For me after the next month, we'll finally be able to grade Tim's performance. As of now his report card has been marked "incomplete" imo.

No, it’s literally the same thing? Plattenberg (which is what I ‘shouted about’) said his clause was active this summer Ex, Sean and Fabrizio Romano have said that was true but it’s now expired So what I ‘shouted about’ has been confirmed unless you believe Sean, Ex, Fabrizio Romano and Plattenberg are all wrong and they might be but todays reports are proof the previous ones were correct.
