I hate to say this but he was wrong that word is hardly ever used and I have no memory of any circumstance of when that word has been used outside of describing his band. And this isn't just referencing to me it's people I know and in general families don't use this as a word, The band also is not as popular as it once was so it's not really disgust as much as it was, As for the band being a household name it wasn't, many people loved his music but not everyone has heard of him, infact there were many who had never even heard of his band, however they most likely have heard of him in some form, the band nor word was by any means household, however his name probably was.

Probably because, This is Kurt right on the cusp of super stardom!!! And maybe because Kurt is so candid and kinda downplaying the meaning of why he names his name Nirvana! You see classic Kurt here! Almost all pleasant aspects of his personality... You have a journalists/fanboy reading into every little thing he said or every lyric he sang! And you definitely, (whether you realized it or not) at least subconsciously picked up on his genuineness and sincerity; by witnessing what would later on in time be the all too familiar scenario of Kurt getting reallychrrsed out, and kinda embarrassed of something he did say or create or did or claimed etc, and having his words ready back to him is something he hated, as much as her hated having his ideas and images pinned down and concisely framed up for the passerby general public housewives and others he didn't like but obcessed over him... And classic Kurt sarcasm while being direct, crass, and just shrugging off historic nirvana questions from interviewers while always being polite and pleasant as Kurt always was to people!! And lastly his humor and coolness, his rockstar style was super unique to look at and watch him just exist sometimes!!! Topped of by that smile and the simple fact that Kurt Cobain was probably one of the best looking men that have ever played music as far as his face and just his way of carrying himself while not being muscular or a big stud he was definitely a sought-after man women were obsessed with him!!! Both my sisters were like cult member fans of his. And I grew up idolizing Kurt and was hurt deeply when he died! I still remember the day vividly... And how it felt after you just knew he wasn't out there anymore keeping it real in that little space he occupied!!!...😞😵🤕... That little space he occupied with very often be a space where a tremendous creativity and Sonic heavenly sounds and songs would be coming from and emitting into the world! ✌🏼✌🏼✌🏼⚜️❇️💛

Kurt died on my 18th birthday. I remember feeling disappointed, fooled, melancholic, apathetic and so much more at the time. Nevermind came out late '91. I remember the first HS party I went to, kids in flannels were moshing to Smells Like...he felt like a voice of a generation and a man who just wanted to be left alone because he understood that only a few things really matter, most of it doesn't matter at all and most people never get even close to understanding that.

Agrred. I've always thought the same thing and so did guys like Brad Pitt and Keanu Reeves who actually tried to reach out to him. He shunned their overtures - I think just on his youthful, punk rock general principal thing - but I wish he hadn't. I can't help but wonder what could have happened in that _KEY_ moment in time from +/- September to November 1991 if instead of diving head first into Courtney Love and her gaggle of degenerate henchmen and sycophants, he cooled it with her and went with a different crowd. Sadly, it seems at that point in his life he was quite susceptible to "love bombing" and by the end of 1991, Love was pregnant with his child and thus had him firmly gripped by his short and curly's.

Goodness, advice for interviewers: you throw a startword at the interviewed and just put the micro in front of them and let them choose the direction. Only if the talk trails off, you work like a psychologist, and repeat one of the last words of the interviewed with an encouraging interest and a questionmark, for them to elaborate. People get much more livelier if you let them do the talking.

@@traceykoontz2868 Well thats an interesting topic actually. The best artists (painters, singers, authors) have one important thing in common: mental disorders, mostly depression. Creating something is their way they try to deal with depression. Their songs are so genuine and you feel their pain because those feelings are real. So sadly, sadness is the part of the “package” of a the great artist.
