It kind of sounds like Kevin supports Ruby no matter how horrible Ruby is, and I think Kevin should be arrested, too.

Wow. I can't believe he said Kevin should be arrested. I agree. Most people think he was emotionally abusive in the videos, I think. Ruby is just as guilty as Jodie. She is their mother. Mom's are supposed to have the instinct to protect their children. Not any mom would be brainwashed. Ruby had a sadistic side already!!!

I’m so happy Matthew did this interview. Not only is he a kind, well spoken, mature young man but so far has been the ONLY one in the family that has mentioned concern for the children and called out Kevin and stated he should be arrested. I wholeheartedly agree. That couldn’t be easy to say since it is his uncle but I’m proud of him for doing the right thing. And, of course, I think Ruby and Jodi should be under the jail. Family vlogers in general make me sick but Ruby took it next level. She is evil.

Finally, a family member who actually mentions the children!! Not a family member who saw them regularly, not an adult who could intervene, but a cousin. A cousin roughly the same age as Shari, and so far he's the only one to mention the children.

Huge respect to Matthew for his honesty and bravery. What a horrible position for him to be forced into by his aunts inhumane actions. Matthew shows the devastating ripple effect one person’s actions can have on all the family. A major impact. I do hope they are all able to recover. They have a long road ahead. It’s awful 😢

I didn't expect much of this interview when he was saying that the church has no responsibility, but that end statement was quite a kicker and a surprise. It makes perfect sense and gives more evidence to the idea that Kevin absolutely knew what was happening under Jody's "care."

Ruby is a Psychopath. Having no conscience and not supporting her sister-in-law when she had a newborn and another child fighting cancer had to have been horrific! I never even thought about how Kevin's extended family would be targeted. It's really sad.

9:14 💥 Finally someone says it. Is there any report, article, whatever on the health of Abby and Julie. How are they doing? Nobody ever even mentions them, as if they were not part of the Franke family and didn’t grow up under the same circumstances as their 4 siblings. That they were not found on that fateful day with duct tape around their ankles doesn’t mean they did not have to endure such a procedure ever, right?

Kevin is guilty of abuse too. He agreed to them missing meals, he signed the paperwork to send Chad to that camp etc. Those kids will need counselling for the rest of their lives, and I hope they can appear virtually if they have to appear and that Jody and Ruby are not allowed to question them because that will damage the kids even more. I just wish that Utah took sentencing more seriously, because Ruby and Jodi should get life, and Kevin too in general population so that they get some at least of what those sweet kids went through. The church of LDS, and CPS need looking into to.

glad to hear him say and understand that Kevin should be arrested too. but, not just for the fact that he's saying that he didn't know what had been going on at that house for the last 14 months... but also for the FACT that he was living in the house and present for a lot of the abuse. he was there when they sent his son off for doing normal things every teenaged boy on the planet does INCLUDING Kevin when he was a teenager. he was present when his son's bathroom door was removed for the same crime of being a normal teenager. he was present when Ruby was threatening to cut up a baby's stuff animals for playing with scissors like all kids do at some point. he was there when they weren't being fed. he was there when Ruby wouldn't take food to the school for their 6 year old...and he was there when she was being made at 6 years old to get herself up in the mornings, get herself dressed, and pack her own lunch. he was there... he was there...he was there! so much of this started long before he ever left that house and there's video proof of it in the "copious amount of evidence" the lawyers are going through. why in the world is this man not in jail yet? i don't understand it. and why on earth does he think he needs those kids back?...does he want to finish what Ruby started? surely to God child protective services will never see him as a parent fit to raise these kids. none of them should ever have to be in the same room with any of their THREE abusers again as long as they live!

This shows that Ruby was harsh even before Jodi entered the picture, to cut family out of your life like that! And Kevin going along with it…despite it being his very own blood relatives. He said they never even met any of the Griffiths family?! Maybe it’s just me and my family dynamic, but that is just so crazy to me.

I've been questioning WHY everyone has taken Kevin and his lawyer's word for it that Keven was out of the picture for over a year? The lawyer first said the kids were with Ruby "for the summer" and now the time apart has been greatly extended. Until evidence proves Kevin was out of the house without any communication, or the children confirm it....I don't believe it and think he was well aware of what was happening, just as he always has been and probably believed, just like Ruby, it was best punishment for the children.

If he thinks that Mormonism had no role in this he's blind. Jodi was referred to couples by the church.

Ok I just gotta point out: did he say Ruby had distanced herself because she didn't agree with how her sister in law & brother in law were handling a case of pediatric cancer?! Jeez, Ruby. And THAT was a decade ago. She has been rigid and extreme for a long time.

A brave young man, who has courage to express his opinion in a mature way. Even though he rarely sees them, he mentions his cousins with fondness throughout the video, which is MUCH more than what Ruby and Kevin did together! Not only did Ruby accuse two of her children (and victims) of being SAb*sers themselves, through his lawyer Kevin has stated that he loves his kids and wants them back at all costs "to guide them." After what he is seen doing to and neglecting to do for his children from the begining of the 8 Passengers untill today, that is a terrifying notion. Kevin also still wants Ruby back. He has never expressed sorrow, regret or remorse for his own actions and his neglect. Since he has publicly explained that "the children should NOT be loved unconditionally" and that "he doesn't see his role as a father to make his kids' childhood, happy, carefree and magical," I guess we can all assume that his "fatherly guidance" would NOT be loving care. If only 20% of what dozens and dozens of his students write about him is true (and the BYU believed it all, since Kevin was sacked months ago) then those children must be kept away both from him and from vile Ruby forever! And yes, Kevin also needs to face legal consequences for massive neglect of those children. As for the mormon church, no one is saying that all mormons abu*e their children. But there is no denying of the fact that the LDS church was heavily promoting Jody Hildebrandt for over a decade, that many bishops were regularly sending people and couples in distress to her, that she had access to many of the church leaders and that they never said a single word as she, and later Ruby too, were promoting their pathological "Truth and distortion" teachings as a mormon wisdom, mormon parenting and mormon way of life. Both Hildebrandt and Ruby and Kevin were important donors to the LDS church and multiple people witnessed them treated with special respect by the church hierarchies. There is no runing away from that and even though the church itself will never address this, the people who belong to it should be honest with themselves and face the ugly facts.

It’s clear this family are not close. He’s clueless and that’s ok. This family hide things from each other because of shame. I’m sorry for him as he will have to accept that Ruby and Kevin were willing participants it’s not all on Jodi

Absolutely I acknowledge that there are members of the family who genuinely did not know what was going on (this kid for example). Im more concerned with the members who knew and covered for Ruby , especially the ones with channels. I think they need to be investigated.

I appreciate him saying that Kevin should be arrested too, at least for neglect. Neither Ruby nor Kevin are fit to be parents. Jodi isn’t fit to be a member of society. Kevin should be jailed for the maximum of each offense. Ruby should be jailed for the maximum of each of her offenses and only released if she is truthfully repentant of all her distortions (ha).

Hmmm, he says the church wouldn’t “consider” anything like that, yet the Mormon church promoted Connexions therapy?? Even after knowing that Jodi’s license was revoked?

Wonder if his side of the family are sane enough to take the kids? Sadly the Father may get them and he was complicit with their toture so that idea is horrifying.

It’s frustrating that people are blaming the whole LDS church for a few bad actors. Trust me the vast, vast majority of Mormons do NOT condone this! I can’t think of a single person who would and I don’t believe the bishops who recommended Jodi knew what was going on.

Other than the girl that lived with Jody I think the rest of the people are just on here for fame because none of them actually knew their own family members or had seen them in 10 years 15 years in two years. And none had relationships, except the girl who was abused her self.

Bless him. Extended family is not responsible for the crimes committed. I am not sure about Matthews outlook on his Uncle as Sheri has not returned any of his calls so he doesn't have any idea of what conversations she may or may not have had with her father. She left home before he father did and re established a relationship with her mothers sister - Shari was essentially shunned from her family for this. She wasn't allowed to visit her siblings and her father wasn't allowed to visit his children - I am assuming that Chad was also not allowed to visit his siblings. Jodi waiting until the Adults in the family were out of the way before the physical abuse commenced. Ruby should have called police and fled with her children when Jodi abused them.

Mormon church bishops referred parishioners to Jodi. So Jodi's methods have been explicitly endorsed by the holiest representatives of Mormonism.

So if its not an LDS thing... why were so many church officials referring people to Jodi?

His uncle was targeted by a woman who has narcissistic personality disorder. Narcissists isolate their partners so that they can sadistically prey upon them, as they have no one to turn to for help.

People commenting about him and his family are ignorant and not good people. You see these people who know nothing attacking the family members on both sides. Good people don't do that, and smart people don't act when they have no information, and rumor from other internet idiots is not knowledge.

I believe Ruby is more guilty than Jodi because she's the mother and she set by and let this happen to her kids. And Kevin needs be arrested too and I believe in time he will be. So don't be giving Ruby any passes.

I am a little confused because he said he hasnt seen her in 10 years, then says they had dinner 2 years ago. Then he says he would only see them at family events such as christmas family reunions. Then he again said he has never met Ruby etc... how confusing was that.... did i hear it all wrong?

He needs to digest; he's showing behaviors while speaking (such as chuckling, looking away, and touching his face) that portray that he really has not processed what has taken place, or perhaps he's in denial or trying to distance himself. I hope this message can reach him; bottling something of this nature will mess with your head.

Shari herself said she had Zero contact with her dad that he had blocked her. From everything on Reddit Kevin was removed from BYU last spring. Did Jodi threaten to go after Shari if he didn't follow through the program like she did friends of Adam's? Did they blame what the younger two were doing on Kevin? Did they get the kids to tell kevin they didn't want to speak to him until he was well?

He didn't care about that side of the family!, He is embarrassed for Himself and His immediate family!

Why not live face to face reporting/interviewing? All of this reporters interviews are Zoom or FaceTime.

This is what's wrong in America families are the last one to know. I work in healthcare too much dramas in families but if there is an abuse we are mandated reporters. Ruby and Kevin's families are dysfunctional.

Why has Jodi enjoyed relationships with GAs? Jodi was clearly on the APPROVED list of therapists for LDS Social Services - why?

Seems like all of Kevin and Rubys relatives that came forward so far did it only to defend themselves and say that they had nothing to do with it, and all of them threw Kevin and Ruby under the bus with no hesitance.. really selfish narcissistic behavior. Those poor kids :(

While the average Mormon doesn’t abuse children, he’s completely wrong that the church itself had nothing to do with this. They actively referred people to Hildebrandt for years knowing exactly what she was doing (“curing” people of masturbation). There are numerous examples of top church leaders telling people to tie their wrists to bedposts if they have the urge to masturbate, etc. etc. This behavior is classic Mormonism.
