In this guide I show you the easiest location I know of to pick up kyanite crystals and in the process show you the location of the alien thermal plant.
Lava Zone Entrance:

Thx for the guide I used your lost river beacon first then driving around with the cyclops, i really hate it so i decided i'd go with my prawn suit only and figured i would just reload my last save if it didn't work. Well, it worked, reached the lava in the 1200+ meter deep, collected my kyanite then headed back. Long journey but it was awesome. Saw an alien structure that had fallen down, found a beautiful tree down in the 900m range, etc. It was my first time down there and like every first time in this game, i was scared like hell the whole way down and back. Am planning another run tomorrow but this time, I will go down with everything to build a base and explore.

I love how you make "how to do it as a noob"/"how to do it if you forgot your fekking prawn suit again" videos. Getting the prawn + drill arm is way easier than the depth 2 cyclops mod (at least it was for me lol) but you still include the "what to do if you left your prawn at your base" option. Great vid

Damn dude! You have balls of steel or something. I would never dare to leave my Cyclops/Prawn suit in the presence of a leviathan predator. Respect & Subbed! Btw if anyone wants to get kyanite safely without having to bother with Sea dragon leviathan, there is a drop down entrance to the lava zone past the tree with ghost leviathan egg in the lost river. Just make sure you have a prawn suit and drill arm.

But to go that deep with the prawn you'll need kyatite for the depth module ;)

@@LandisPlays Update: I eventually walked down to the ILZ in my Prawn, but I only stayed long enough to get a couple handfuls of kyanite then ran back to my outpost in the LR. I'll be going back soon, after I upgrade a few things 😃

Oh, okay, so I was going in the right direction ... it's just that trying to run past a ghost leviathan to what appears to be a fiery hole of death at the maximum pressure limit of my equipment seemed like such a *bad idea,* I needed some reassurance.

So when I was entering the the lava biome I was fine and had deployed the creature decoy and everything. I guess that wasn’t enough to distract the Ghost Leviathan. I scream so ducking loud half the neighborhood probably called 911. Also I survived and so did the cyclops but on my way back it attacked me again and the cyclops was at half health, and there was fire everywhere. I eventually escaped with everything still functioning. One hell of an experience.

I know nobody really plays subnautica anymore but if you have the lifepod 12 beacon the you can go there and go to the left side of a rock and you can find the inactive lava zone it's probably the best enterance for a cyclops

I am struggling with the lava larva, I'm nervous about parking my cyclops there because it will get sucked dry. Do I leave it without any power cells plugged in and then hope I have time to plug in some good ones to get out? And if I do that, won't I just bring a zillion of them stuck on my Cyclops back to my base at the Cove Tree?

Mk3 Seamoth depth module, Ultra High Capacity tank, sea glider and builder; with enough materials to build a T compartment, a hatch and a thermal plant. (Literally drive to 890m, go until your at half oxygen and build! Easy access to alien plant and kyanite). (Pay attention to the route Landis takes through the lava maze)

Lol I always thought Kyanite was in big chunks only so I brought my Prawn Boy there and used the Drill Arm instead. That's a lot of work but it felt satisfying.

you can go in a mk3 depth module seamoth but you need a high capticity tank also make sure you use the air supply in the alien base

If I go there with my prawn suit, the sea dragon keeps aggroing me unless I stay close to the entrance :( I have a hard time mining because he follows me almost everywhere

Hi dude I have a problem. My Inactive lava zone is not like yours, In my game it is too dark I can't see anything I am going to lava but it is not red untill I reach the lava like 2 or 3 meters. I searched a lot but can't find a solution. I couldn't see that giant creature untill it across near by me.

i literally shat myself trying this. The Leviathan attacked my prawn and I only had MK.II depth module, so as I tried to run away I passed 1300m and took damage from that. Then i found that if you use the cyclops to put a barrier between you and the dragon then he’ll go away, at least it worked for me in that specific moment. Cyclops took no damage from the fire or the sea dragon slaps. That happened to work for me but idk if it’s repeatable.

Yeah the cyclops won’t be targeted when you are not in it and is partially immune to collateral damage

I've been confused here.. I need Kyanite for a Prawn Depth Module MK2, but I knew Kyanite had to be drilled and was beyond the 900 meter depth so I was completely lossed sitting around like how tf do I get it then Edit: to be clear your video helped I am no longer confused

I have the cyclops and the prawn suit all without mods and upgrades,to be able to make the mods and upgrades i need this. but Im not that good at the game to venture out yet that deep so what should i do. if i die do i respawn back in the sub or back at my base.

As long as you are not playing hardcore, you will spawn in the last player made indoor location, the cyclops or a base.

So I've been having problems with the Cyclops whenever I use it. It just loses power too fast for me and I can't get very far. I added some power cell chargers, extra power cells, and even an engine efficiency module but it still drains pretty fast. Do you have any tips to help with this?

Man, they must have updated that dragon's movement lol. I went down there and he's all up in the cave waiting for me. He breathed some fire then left. No cyclops damage. He keeps coming back though lol.

I have thalassophobia irl and started to play the game since a week. I managed to overcome so much already but I just can't do the Lost River, it's too far, too deep into the sea, the sounds and the creatures are just preventing me to go further. All I need is Kyanite and the ion power cell to progress further in the game. :( It's just a game but I don't know why I am afraid for fuck sakes. :(

Take your time, there is no rush, explore what you are comfortable with and move deeper slowly, building a big base might make it easier if it’s close enough.

Remember there is nothing down there that will even try to hurt you other than the ghost leviathan and it won’t even attack you until you’re too close and you can see it from a distance. Trust me I go down there every time I play.

Try going to life pod 2 ( look behind and you’ll see a huge cavern) if you still haven’t found an entrance it’s not very navigational with a cyclops so not the best entrance for the inactive lava zone, but you can find the small research facility and heaps of resources

I just arrived at the tree and already used 12 energy cells. The power drain of the cyclops is insane?! Yours seems much more reasonable, I wonder what I'm doing wrong...I have the efficiency upgrade and run no extras...

@@LandisPlays i think it was the seamoth charging, and i used silent mode for a bit. Still very high though. I now built an outpost for charging and extra energy cells :)

I went In with my cyclops and I had silent running on the whole time (which apparently drains the battery) because I got there, when I saw I had 15% left. So I had to back up and make it back home with the remaining power :/

couldn't find that specific hole because I started from another entrance, went past the tree of life no kyanite ended up just knifing the ghost Leviathan out of anger...still haven't gotten any kyanite

I almost always head to the lava castle, as its easy to see the loose ones in there

Not a bad gift, trick is to build storage for it, in case you do need it later.

Landis .... !!! help .... !!! I have forgot the synthetic fibers for the dive suite ... I went dark for so long because I stopped playing after my first play thru hoping it would be fresh and new again the next time around ... yep it worked can't remember a bloody thing . how the hell do I make the fibers ??? ;) thx mate you'er a legend .

Yes and no. It is a different section than usual of disfigure by blank (ncs release) which I believe I have used for every single video to date. link is in the description.
