In my personal opinion, the "IT girl" (specifically talking about fashion) is timeless. She can shapeshift from era to era and adapt to new trends seamlessly. Kylie's rise to fame banked on her stealing outfits from other influencers and wearing colourful wigs - I don't think she was ever an IT girl.

I've been reading a lot of comments saying it's the Kardashians' flop era. With Kim being prosecuted by the government, her divorce with the man who made her interesting, Kylie's business flopping after her pregnancies, Khloe being a doormat, Kourtney marrying an irrelevant man, black people's anger to their culture being stolen and most importantly the people realising how they made these nobodies rich amid suffering through the inflation themselves, it's end of their stardom (no one stays on top forever) . I'm so here for it.

Personally when it comes to makeup I think our generation doesn't fit Kylie's aesthetic. We're all about the makeup no makeup look where we just put on a bit of concealer, some highlight, some lipgloss and call it a night. The trend is young girls looking youthful without that high glam look which is what Kylie is known for. With all the procedures her and her family has had I don't think her face could truly match that asthenic.

IG is out and TikTok is in. The Kardashians and Jenners were the faces of instagram and everyone copied that aesthetic to gain followers. Now that TikTok is in, where you actually have to have a personality, she’s not it.

Kylie was an IT girl back when we were teenagers (I'm the same age as her) She was very cool, down to earth, relatable and funny. She had a whole tumblr, blue hair era. I stopped being a fan after her drastic tansformation and wealth. That's when she stopped being relatable. It's almost like she got cloned 😭

I actually think that this ,,shift” is also happening because the new ,,it girls” which have been on the rise the last few years/ month are very different to the ones we’ve been seeing from 2015- now. the new it girls (alexa demie, bella hadid, anok yai, zendaya) or the it girls which have been there forever (naomi campbell, rihanna, kate moss etc) have this very mysterious vibe around them. the new it girls are more like the it girls from the 2000s or 90s mixed with this new thing of being mysterious yet elegant and inventive with their sense of fashion an personality. alexa demie for example has this very mysterious aura and elegant, minimalistic style. rihanna has been an icon for so long but she’s still very private and brings new creative ideas when it comes to fashion. i think the main thing is having this image of being ,,private”, yet everytime they do posts it’s ICONIC. i think these new it girls are like the BIG opposite to the it girls of 2015-2020. this time was all about going out, being popular, snapchat, colourful outfits while now we prefer the women who have no social media and are harder to connect with on this social media kind of level. i feel like the new it girl is more like somebody who loves their privacy and is still very influential. just some thoughts.

The way the Kardashians profit off of black culture and aesthetics but don't cater to most people of colour through their makeup lines or clothes doesn't sit right. It doesn't come off well. Most people think this family are black women, and they've done that on purpose.

Kylie has completely detached her true and authentic self from the kylie she wants us to "know, love, and relate" to, which is why It's so obvious how uncomfortable she is in all her interviews; interviews can be light hearted, but their truly intimate and require genuine personality traits

i don’t think people liked kylie for her relateability. In fact, i think it was the opposite. For many (more so yt people) she was the cool rich young girl everyone wanted to be like and at some point look like. I think the kardashian-jenner Era has pretty much ended. They're all older and focused on more important things now, and the world has gone on to idolize other kinds of beauty and people at this point. If it were still 2018, Kylie would've still been the IT girl. I remember that Era. I was literally not even 10 yrs old lmao.

My younger sister had her first and only child at 18, which was right around the same time that Kylie had her first baby. I remember it being empowering for my little sister and she was grateful, in a way, that this young A-list celebrity was going through something so similar. It almost lifted some weight off her shoulders as far as the stigma around having a child that young and gave her someone to look up to. I can definitely see where that was a disconnect for most people. But I know it was inspiring for a lot of young mothers navigating an extremely scary, uncertain, judgmental, "girl boss" world. Appreciate her for that.

I remember being a teenager and being obsessed with this woman(her and I are the same age actually) I started following her when she started to get popular waaaaayyyy in the beginning time of insta. I was around to witness her relationship with Jaden when her and her friends were all part of his Misfits group. She was soooooo different compared to who she became once she got with Tyga. She was a whole mood back then. She had a Keek account and I followed her on there as well she definitely had a personality, much more lighthearted charismatic and yes even funny but now she’s just bleh like drastically and that’s not even to say that’s because she got older, a personality doesn’t just die with age. You're right. The whole family was just a trend. The whole "instagram baddie" vibe is just used up and old. Nobody can realistically achieve it either. It was bound to happen at some point. Every generation had their it girl for example Marylin Monroe, Pamala Anderson, Beyonce, Rihanna. It's all about longevity. All the people I named had some sort of impact, other than their looks, either it being acting or music. When it comes to Kylie it was so obvious that Kris Jenner forced her into doing these businesses. Kylie never seemed to be into cosmetics it just seemed very artificial when she promoted her products.

I’m so glad you mentioned that GQ interview! I don’t follow Kylie at all but somehow I randomly watched that interview when it came out and it made such an impression on me. I felt so bad for Kylie and confused really about why they were together when it seemed there was zero real connection. Hopefully they’ve grown together over time.

I think the reason she isn’t an IT girl anymore is because the look is very hard to maintain. Instagram high glam looks do have their own charm, but you need to have a lot of money and time to look this way. Most people won’t have the time to be that glamorous and sexy all the time, so I think people have started to gravitate more to effortless looks, like the “clean girl aesthetic” for example. And like you said we have a lot of people who want to look like her, and it gets repetitive.

I noticed Kylie falling off 3-4 years ago. She's just become Kris Jenner Jr lol. Her key demographic is girls teens-20s but they're not interested in a billionaire who only posts to promote products, relatable or natural content is the trend now. Good point about Botox (and filler)! People don’t talk about potential bad consequences enough, it’s almost treated like makeup or getting a facial when it’s not similar at all to that! Botox has been marketed recently for younger audiences under the guise of preventive aging which is sad, and can lead to muscle atrophy (because Botox is a bacteria that immobilises the muscle right so if you do it repeatedly and for many years you will probably face this problem at some point in your life). We are also told that fillers are fine but there have been studies that even if most of the product (ha usually) disappears from the area you injected it in with time, that doesn’t mean it’s fully gone and the consequences are not studied enough! Not to mention shady places offering these injections for low prices that could fuck up someone’s face pretty badly 😢

I think you said the big think but kind of glossed over it a lil bit, it's definitely the fact that they are serving us nothing revolutionary as far as make up and fashion goes. That what she gave us first, it seemed like the green hair was her thing, she was doing things because SHE thought they were cool. It honestly does seem like she may be going through a kind of identity crisis right now and I think a lot of rich ppl have that. When you have the ability to just have anything and everything, at the second you want it, it can be easy to lose sight of what it is you're REALLY wanting.
