Loved seeing the timelapse build. Brought back a ton of memories building my own back in the ‘80s in my childhood basement workshop. Been thinking about buying this kit as a project for me and my daughter to work on (but let’s be real, I’m mostly using that as an excuse to relive my RC car days). Wondering if you eventually switched to the belt drive. Seeing the chain made me shudder. So many problems with it after a while. Think the belt drive came out as an aftermarket option right around the time I was losing interest in the hobby. Cool to see this has a slipper clutch and comes standard with bearings-and the belt-drive option. Glad you finally got to build and race an Optima. Amazing little car. Thanks for posting this video.

@@mattluszczak8095 Oh I know how they go together, built a new one in '85 and I've got a couple originals that I've rebuilt plus a re-release Javelin that just needs the cage and electrics fitted.

What can you recommend as an upgrade to the starter motor? Would like to build this with middle of the road electronics for fun around around in the park but not too shabby either. Thanks
