In this final segment of my Optima review, I talk about adapting the model for modern wheels and tires. Then I drive the Optima at my local racetrack and a neighborhood park.

I had an original one. I now have the re release kit. The chassis on this car is far more interesting than the plastic fantastic ugly buggies we have today.

Yep. Back in the day we raced offroad. Now it's carpet or dirt that might as well be concrete.

The last rc I had was a RC10T in high school. After watching your videos on the Rere Optima I couldn't resist and bought one!!! Great video. I only have one question about the wheel and tyre dilemma. I want to run the standard 1.7s rather than go 2.2 and found these by Jconcepts; Double Dees - green compound - 1.7” Fits - #3359 1.7" RC10 Hazard rear wheel Wouldn't they fit the standard wheels?

I think the 1.7" Double Dees will work. They were out of stock when I was building my Optima, So I haven't actually tried them.

You can nearly bald these tires and they still perform well on a baseball-like field/track

Thanks man. I have my old Tekin ESC from 1987 or so and an associated reedy competition stock motor Id like to run in this thing, looks like it does pretty well on NiMH.
