Kyrie Irving, inch for inch, is potentially the greatest finisher ever. He has everything in his arsenal--from english off the glass, to euros and misdirections, to acrobatic finishes. And most of it is skill, and was developed purely through repetition and getting a feel for it. Check out a full breakdown above!

Your under estimating how much the spin of the ball helps. He mastered that shit. His layups are so hard to block even with no elevation because he's essentially throwing the ball high left or high right of the backboard and he's not throwing it at an angle. He's not aiming for the middle of the backboard like a standard layup. All he has do do is hit the backboard and put the right spin on the ball and he can make it.

@@theavatar9191 curry is nowhere near kyrie in terms of handles finishing at the traffic and changes direction in high speed. Curry got handles but what makes him so special is he has range. He can shoot 3 from anywhere in the court. That's impossible to emulate by any of nba player even harden thompson korver and other 3 points specialist. If curry 3 points skill was taken out, i bet he was just grouped into "tier 5 point guards". Nothing special from other basketball aspects of steph curry except his limitless shot range

MG_Anon it definitely does, that's 1 of the finishes I don't try to use, it works good when you jump in to someone and force them to decide where their going to swing there arm to block and you just wait and layup after there hand is down

Leo_Cerberus alot of layups you can catch guys off gaurd with the quick barely jump layup. I do it all the time. Kyrie, John wall, harden and westbrook all do layups in traffic(usually fastbreak) where they feet barely leave the ground. They glide to the rim real low. Instead of a high jump they long jump, the whole goal is to beat you to the rim
@deandrepittman4310
@deandrepittman4310 6 жыл бұрын
Leo_Cerberus oh I forgot when you long jump layup you have to do it be for they get to plant there feet and high jump because if you don't get the ball yo touch backboard fast enough(while under control, which is very hard, you'll have to have a very soft touch with good english) or you'll get your shot blocked

HPM Boss do you watch basketball or just highlights? Kyrie makes the hardest things look easy. That's where skill comes in. He has the best off hand in the league, is the best finisher and has the best all around offensive game (inside, mid-range, three, layups, floaters, turnaround jumpshots, fadeways, etc). No one, and I mean no one, has a more complete arsenal That's exactly why Durant said Kyrie's "bag is full." Curry is a better three point shooter, spacer and passer. That's it. Kyrie's whole game is predicated on beating people off of skill.
@laneyj
@laneyj 6 жыл бұрын
HPM Boss you're confusing the issue. Steph may be the more profilic scorer, but he is not more skilled than Kyrie. You can test it out yourself. Try to do the things each one does and see which comes easier to you. Kyrie does harder things more routinely. That is skill. Curry is better than Kyrie at one, maybe two skills. Three point shooting and maybe passing. Everything else, Kyrie is better at. Also, Shaq could probably score more than Allen Iverson. Does that make Shaq more skilled than AI?

Do you think the 2 foot finishes led to his recent knee injury (especially the non-jumpstop ones)? I ask because I noticed that when I finish off two while attacking at full speed, with no jump stop, I feel pain in my knees because I'm not able to allow my glutes to do the work on a gather. Dope video btw! One of my favorites and I've seen all of them :)
