Rhaenyra, with the help of Rhaenys' council, seeks a new path to avoid war at all costs and she's willing to put herself in danger to talk with Alicent face to face...but it's too late for peace, now! There are too many players and numerous reasons to fight. Meanwhile, Daemon is in Harrenhal getting visions and being told of his death, which would stress us out way less if Cole wasn't on his way there, too! And at this point, I'm just waiting for Aemond to break and lash out D:

By the way girls something that everyone either missed or left out of the editing (or both : as left out cuz they missed it) The servant girl in the tavern the one slapped in the ... It's Diana the servant that was sent away by Alicent in season one with silver and the moon tea. After Aegon ... She was also seen terrified while serving him but he didn't recognize her.

@@kyuujinreacts Yeah a lot of people though Alicent's tea was poisoned and the silver was a decoy. I knew her not to be that ruthless (unlike in the book where she is basically Cersei 2.0) Even in that scene she felt uncomfortable and guilty as hell putting the fear of god in that poor girl to silence her.

7:59 A queen consort would be called "Your grace" but Daemon would be a prince consort since king's consorts do not exist because a king would always have more power than a queen, so it's really worrying that Daemon want to be called "Your grace"

King consort do exsist in their world. Viserys said "Rhaenyra has come of age. She must needs marry a high lord who will honor her, defend her, and serve her as king consort.". Laenor was refered as king consort by Harrold Westerling. Rhaenys and Corlys referes to Daemon as king consort.

@seda6968 King consorts do not exist, they would out rank their queens, Rhaenyra's council sees Daemon as a prince consort bc of that. "Unlike the royal women, the husbands in the monarchy have not taken the title of king. This is for two reasons: Traditionally, the title of king can only be inherited, and because the king always outranks the queen."

I'm pretty sure that unlike queen consorts, king consorts are not called 'king' consorts or adressed as 'your grace' because when a Queen is the ruler, and her husband is called 'king' consort, people don't hear the word consort, they hear the KING. good old patriarchy. as for why daemon wanted to be called your grace, i dont think it's because he wants to be king, more like 'put some respect on my name btch im the queen's husband'. i mean it's DAEMON, he has a big ego. but i don't think he plans to betray rhaenyra, if the tears in his eyes during the dream sequence is anything to go by. the writers of the show also mentioned that he does feel guilt over the wrongs he did against Rhaenyra when she was younger. This is going to sound VERY weird, but i don't think he always liked her as a romantic partner, when she was a child, she was his neice (both in name and in his heart), a piece of his brother whom he loved. he had a soft spot for her like any uncle might. I know how gross this sounds cuz he ends up in a sexual relationship with her later on in life. But this is what makes Daemon interesting to me. In real life anyone would hate him (rightfully so), but in a fictional show the gross things are easier to overlook. He's clearly conflicted over his feelings, regarding his brother, his (now) wife, hell even little jahaerys, as hypocritical as it sounds. I am so intrigued to see how Harrenhal changes him. He's still a piece of sh/t and probably will always be so, but this character arc has the potential of being interesting. After all who likes boring characters who are the book definition of 'good'.

Apparently the eggs that Rhaenyra sent off with Rhaena ARE meant to be the ones Daenerys eventually ends up with in Game of Thrones. Rhaenyra mentioned intending for them to go to Pentos, which would explain how they eventually end up across the Narrow Sea. The director of the episode confirmed it in an interview. Though I guess in the book version of things, it's heavily implied that the eggs Dany got were already over there at the time House of the Dragon is taking place, having been stolen by a jilted lover of a former Targaryen, but this is the show version of things.

Alicent heard what she wanted to hear the night Viserys died. She wanted the position and just heard the name aegon, and immediately thinks that Viserys wants her son to be the successor. All Visery's life he always said that Rhaenyra is his heir to the throne and defended her every time. Even the morning/hours before he died, he didnt want to take the milk of the poppy so he could have a clear mind, walk to the throne, felt and go through all that pain just to defend luke as the heir to driftmark to further affirm Rhaenyra's inheritance and then Alicent The Hypocrite thinks Viserys suddenly changes his mind that same night. Alicent thinks her son aegon the rapist is The Prince that was Promised?? Dafuq!😆

Yea Alicent is having to cope really hard..Partly her instant reaction is denial because she won't accept that she can be responsible for everything that follows...I think the guilt will start to settle in ESPECIALLY as the war goes on and the mayhem of the Dance follows in the entire realm....While it is true that Otto and the counsel at their plans for Aegon regardless of what Viserys or Alicent said, it is also true that Aegon at the time categorically did not want to be King at all- and it is mainly Alicent who talked him into it convincing him that his father wanted it, and if she told him at the time to refuse the crown, he very well, almost certainly would have, given as Alicent stated Aegon was going to proceed as she saw fit...BUT It's possible then that Aemond would have likely been crowned by Otto instead and he would have welcomed it...Hard to say but yea
@kyuujinreacts

Yeah, I agree that if Aegon had refused the crown (without his mom's encouraging and supporting words about his father) Aemond would've taken it gladly. He's a bit like Daemon in the way he believes he's the better man/brother/choice and Otto would've prefered him too, had he been given tbe chance 🤔

Of course it was the conflict between the honor of being in such company and the reality of serving madness that ruined Jaime and allowed Cersei to corrupt him. I will say though that Viserys I had a good and honorable kingsguard not counting Cole.

Hated the sept scene. That's the consequences of shitty writing. The show keeps pushing the narrative that Aegon's only solid argument is Viserys's last wish which is not the case. Aegon doesn't need Viserys's order, he bases his claim on tradition and precedent that made Viserys king over Rhaenys 30 years ago. But the show doesn't want to address this for some reason and puts all the blame on Alicent's misunderstanding. The greens and Alicent are even more hated now because the writers didn't bother to give her and the green real motivations and backups for putting Aegon on the throne. It makes them look just stubborn and delusional for no reason. I mean they did give her motivation in ep 5 when Otto gave her valid argument that her children would be in danger if Rhaenyra took the throne, and Alicent indeed had this belief for 16 years, but apparently she forgot about it the family dinner in ep 8 and now only Viserys's wish is her argument. if Alicent can't say anything better than "he changed his mind" to back up Aegon's claim, then why would the audience believe Aegon HAS anything but this illusion? I hate this show change so much because it undermines everything: world building, motivations and the message of the story Ignoring the political arguments of the Greens harms the story not only as an entertainment work, which initially provided audience with an interesting conflict in which both sides have strong claims, it also leads to simplifying the political side of the issue. It weakens the message of the story laid down by both the author of the book and the creator of the show - criticism of the monarchical system and especially vague , uncodified laws and contradictions it brings with it. A system in which there are no clear rules, which ultimately becomes an excellent basis for interpretations in favor of one or another political party, from which the conflict arises. The point was that both Aegon and Rhaenyra had strong claims because the monarchy lets several claimants have legal grounds for inheritance based on different arguments. But now it's all narrowed to " misunderstanding"
@kyuujinreacts
@kyuujinreacts Ай бұрын
I see your point, but if anything, I think the sept scene helped prove that, indeed, Viserys changing his mind isn't the reason why they're having a war! It confirmed that even though Alicent used that to justify what was happening, it's not really what started the war (and I mean...the king can choose his heir whether or not he chooses a daughter or a son! Some people might be pissed about that, but others, like the Starks, pledged their allegiance because of that and that's the reason they still support Rhaenyra, so it is somewhat important and it helps the green's cause to say the king changed his mind) With everything that was said this episode, I took it as Alicent finally telling Rhaenyra why she did what she did, but then also pointing out the fact that this war was inevitable (too many people were already planning and Otto would've still put Aegon on the throne, reason or not)
@yasmina3999
@yasmina3999 Ай бұрын
@@kyuujinreacts the comment was more about the presentation itself. We know in fact that the war will happen regardless but because the greens and Alicent herself base mostly their claim on illusion, we don't see their side as legitimate = don't understand the message that was put in this. The greens didn't just want power, they had serious concerns about the lives of her children.Because the system itself was designed in such a way that a brother and a sister were a danger to each other. The problem is not only that team black or team green pursued only the path of vanity ambitiousness. The problem is that the monarchical system narrowed their options, which is why the freedom to choose a peaceful resolution was reduced to almost zero. The idea that one side could sit on the throne and everyone lived peacefully and happily is simply an illusion. In the show, this message practically does not exist, since the writers actively promotes that if Rhaenyra took the throne, then everything would be fine. ESPECIALLY because her claim is the only legitimate. In particular, the show uses Alicent as a tool to say it by making her the one who doesn't believe in Aegon at all. We, as viewers, get to know the two parties through their main representatives - Rhaenyra and Alicent. Two figures that provide the main ideas of their sides. Despite the presence of other important players, we see the story through their eyes. The decision not to make Alicent believe in Aegon's claim was intentional. As I said, If the main representative and most familiar character of the team doesn't believe that her side has reasons and a right to the actions they take, then why would should the audience believe in them?

Rhae Rhae's only claim is that Viserys named her heir. She had bastards, which is treason, which disqualifies her claim. Aegon has a stronger claim.

@kyuujinreacts 29 күн бұрын
Having bastards doesn't disqualify her claim, or otherwise, Aegon would also be disqualified 🤷‍♀️ Her kids are royal through her, not her husband, so if she wanted to legitimize them (or name her firstborn with Daemon as heir) her kids would still get the throne. The only big mistake she made was lying about her kids' father and going through with naming them heir to the throne without legitimizing them
@yasmina3999

@@kyuujinreacts passing them off as trueborn is the treason because she's usurping the throne and Driftmark from legal claimants ( and yes, Rhaenyra's heir should have been her brother Aegon. So she tried to steal his birthright to be her heir)
