The hollow being his zanpakuto has always been foreshadowed even back to the original series. For example, whenever Ichigo is in bankai mode, his hollow always interferes. And he kept hearing the hollow voice in his mind, because essentially that is how shinigami communicate with their zanpakuto.

When I finished season 1 of anime I thought - Well, at least now Thorfinn can reconcile with his family, Canute will sent him home with Leif, it's gonna be fine. Then I started manga - Thorfinn sold into slavery. Well, shit. Poor boy can't catch a break. Also, opening sequence so gorgeous.

Glad y'all picked up on the similarities between Thorfinn and Einar, even though Thorfinn had it bad he still (last we heard) has a mom, sister, and home to go back to. Meanwhile Einar has nothing yet continues to try to live. Can't wait for the rest of this season, my favorite story beat of all time, the show really does a good job of adapting for the most part.

One thing that always bugs me about stories involving Vikings is that they don’t really look at the other side of it. I mean they will show kings and soldiers but they rarely show the victims of all this. And if they do it’s typically as a quick plot thread to “enhance” one of the Viking characters. Vinland Saga doesn’t shy away from these people at all which is one of my favorite things about it.

Vinland Saga has a completely different point to then most western vikings movies and TV shows. Vinland Saga was written to literally critic the Norse culture against his the author's own philosopcal views.While Vikings and The Last Kingdom are just ment to be fun shows with good characters, epic war scenes and political thriller elements. They are ironically what people who were unhappy with the direction Vinland Saga takes after the first arc wanted it to be an anime version off.Characters rarely question how violent thier world is in those shows. The vikings engaging in raids is occasionally shown but the victims are rarely humanized in those shows the way they are in VS. It's treated either as shock value or just an unfortunate fact of life for the times the viewer has to accept. Slight spoiler for both Vinland Saga and Vikings tv. A character like Athealstan in the vikings tv series has less conflict with get over Ragnar being the viking that raided his home,enslaved him, and got all his innocent monks friends killed because he's a nice slave owner then Einar has with Thorfinn after first finding out he was viking even though Thorfinn did nothing to him.I like both series but definitely very different viewpoints.

Some points about Thorfinn being all shabby on the farm: Thorfinn attacked a member of the Danish Royal Family in public and even cut his body. This was witnessed by multiple important Jarls. This is normally a offence warranting a death penalty. Canute had to give the imminient order to NOT kill Thorfinn on the spot. But this is an act that can't stay unpunished, even if Canute wanted to let it be water under the bridge, the Jarls under his command wouldn't let him do that

Julias is the 28th Wizard King. So if you think each Wizard king is in power for like 20 years thats like at least 500 years. We saw young julis before he was Wizard King when he found and took in Yami, Yami was like 15 (since he had grimoir) and Yami is 29 now, so about 10-15 years Julias has been wizard King and hes only in his 40s so he ideally would have some years left to lead. If you use that as an average its like 500+ years since the First Wizard King. Yami ment Jack the Ripper for the spell it reminded him of. Remember Jack has "Severing Magic" and his blades can cut anything. Yami said "It reminds me of a certian stretched out wierdo" the only tall and lanky person we know who would fit is Jack.

Apparently the eggs that Rhaenyra sent off with Rhaena ARE meant to be the ones Daenerys eventually ends up with in Game of Thrones. Rhaenyra mentioned intending for them to go to Pentos, which would explain how they eventually end up across the Narrow Sea. The director of the episode confirmed it in an interview. Though I guess in the book version of things, it's heavily implied that the eggs Dany got were already over there at the time House of the Dragon is taking place, having been stolen by a jilted lover of a former Targaryen, but this is the show version of things.

Yea Alicent is having to cope really hard..Partly her instant reaction is denial because she won't accept that she can be responsible for everything that follows...I think the guilt will start to settle in ESPECIALLY as the war goes on and the mayhem of the Dance follows in the entire realm....While it is true that Otto and the counsel at their plans for Aegon regardless of what Viserys or Alicent said, it is also true that Aegon at the time categorically did not want to be King at all- and it is mainly Alicent who talked him into it convincing him that his father wanted it, and if she told him at the time to refuse the crown, he very well, almost certainly would have, given as Alicent stated Aegon was going to proceed as she saw fit...BUT It's possible then that Aemond would have likely been crowned by Otto instead and he would have welcomed it...Hard to say but yea

The mere fact that she was able to force Frieren's replica to resort to that last trick, which made lowered her defenses speaks volumes about Fern's abilities as a mage. When Fern said "This is the Height of Magic" when Frieren used an attack she couldnt understand or see she ment it. Thats basically top tier magic that frieren only had to use aginst the demon king, so frieren using it aginst Fern is a HUGE point to how strong Fern is. Fern is as powerful as the Demon King is what your supposed to take from that. She still has room to grow but she has the power to support her. But its also noting that Fern has more to learn still, that there is magic beyond her understanding and knowledge still.

Well we know where all the budget for fights went, Beautiful Sakuga. The entire fight between the two Frieren's she didn't use her ace until after Fern took her arms, so Frieren is definitely still pulling her punches. Would love to see a extended fight against a opponent requiring ALL her strength. Also a big thing we learn here is that while the staff is important Frieren's double casted without a focusing conduit. How big does it need to be and is there a detriment to not using one or could you get by with more freedom of movement by having a smaller wand rather than a full staff.

Serie is a true fanatic for magic. She loves seeing mages reach their full potential. Nothing excites her like seeing a genius pushing the very limits of what magic is capable of. That's why she doesn't like taking human apprentices - not because she inherently dislikes them or thinks they are inferior in talent, but because magic takes so long to master that they die on the cusp of greatness, but never quite reaching the pinnacle. When she says "disappointing" she doesn't mean that her apprentices disappoint her, she means that it is disappointing to see them die to old age or natural causes before they can take that last step to the peak. Now imagine how much lower the chance is for a mage to reach that pinnacle if they have the short lifespan of a human AND aren't supremely talented. She spends so much time, care and attention to teach them only to see them fall before it can all pay off for either of them and I guess that discouraged her to the point where she's trying to tell herself she didn't care to begin with. That she's just teaching them on a whim. She's bullying Frieren because she's a genius but "wasted" the majority of her time training to suppress her mana to trick demons instead of pushing the boundaries of magic and becoming the prodigy she knew Frieren could be. Kind of like that grandma that keeps telling you to pursue your dreams instead of wasting your time in an office job.

Hated the sept scene. That's the consequences of shitty writing. The show keeps pushing the narrative that Aegon's only solid argument is Viserys's last wish which is not the case. Aegon doesn't need Viserys's order, he bases his claim on tradition and precedent that made Viserys king over Rhaenys 30 years ago. But the show doesn't want to address this for some reason and puts all the blame on Alicent's misunderstanding. The greens and Alicent are even more hated now because the writers didn't bother to give her and the green real motivations and backups for putting Aegon on the throne. It makes them look just stubborn and delusional for no reason. I mean they did give her motivation in ep 5 when Otto gave her valid argument that her children would be in danger if Rhaenyra took the throne, and Alicent indeed had this belief for 16 years, but apparently she forgot about it the family dinner in ep 8 and now only Viserys's wish is her argument. if Alicent can't say anything better than "he changed his mind" to back up Aegon's claim, then why would the audience believe Aegon HAS anything but this illusion? I hate this show change so much because it undermines everything: world building, motivations and the message of the story Ignoring the political arguments of the Greens harms the story not only as an entertainment work, which initially provided audience with an interesting conflict in which both sides have strong claims, it also leads to simplifying the political side of the issue. It weakens the message of the story laid down by both the author of the book and the creator of the show - criticism of the monarchical system and especially vague , uncodified laws and contradictions it brings with it. A system in which there are no clear rules, which ultimately becomes an excellent basis for interpretations in favor of one or another political party, from which the conflict arises. The point was that both Aegon and Rhaenyra had strong claims because the monarchy lets several claimants have legal grounds for inheritance based on different arguments. But now it's all narrowed to " misunderstanding"
@kyuujinreacts
@kyuujinreacts 4 күн бұрын
I see your point, but if anything, I think the sept scene helped prove that, indeed, Viserys changing his mind isn't the reason why they're having a war! It confirmed that even though Alicent used that to justify what was happening, it's not really what started the war (and I mean...the king can choose his heir whether or not he chooses a daughter or a son! Some people might be pissed about that, but others, like the Starks, pledged their allegiance because of that and that's the reason they still support Rhaenyra, so it is somewhat important and it helps the green's cause to say the king changed his mind) With everything that was said this episode, I took it as Alicent finally telling Rhaenyra why she did what she did, but then also pointing out the fact that this war was inevitable (too many people were already planning and Otto would've still put Aegon on the throne, reason or not)
@yasmina3999
@yasmina3999 4 күн бұрын
@@kyuujinreacts the comment was more about the presentation itself. We know in fact that the war will happen regardless but because the greens and Alicent herself base mostly their claim on illusion, we don't see their side as legitimate = don't understand the message that was put in this. The greens didn't just want power, they had serious concerns about the lives of her children.Because the system itself was designed in such a way that a brother and a sister were a danger to each other. The problem is not only that team black or team green pursued only the path of vanity ambitiousness. The problem is that the monarchical system narrowed their options, which is why the freedom to choose a peaceful resolution was reduced to almost zero. The idea that one side could sit on the throne and everyone lived peacefully and happily is simply an illusion. In the show, this message practically does not exist, since the writers actively promotes that if Rhaenyra took the throne, then everything would be fine. ESPECIALLY because her claim is the only legitimate. In particular, the show uses Alicent as a tool to say it by making her the one who doesn't believe in Aegon at all. We, as viewers, get to know the two parties through their main representatives - Rhaenyra and Alicent. Two figures that provide the main ideas of their sides. Despite the presence of other important players, we see the story through their eyes. The decision not to make Alicent believe in Aegon's claim was intentional. As I said, If the main representative and most familiar character of the team doesn't believe that her side has reasons and a right to the actions they take, then why would should the audience believe in them?
