It is amazing, that performance was done in December 1964, and the Unchained Melody performance you reviewed was a few months later in 1965. Between that time color was invented by John G. Color - it made all the difference in the world. Before then the world was in black, white and shades of gray! Just joshing, of course. Seriously, a really good reaction to two of the best performances ever recorded. Sadly Bobby Hatfield passed from this world 19 years ago (2003) - WAY too young, we really miss him. People, PLEASE don't do drugs, Bobby died from a cocaine induced heart attack.

"The Righteous Brothers” are considered by most to be the Greatest Male Vocal Duet Of All Time. I agree. Between Bill Medley’s Lows and Bobby Hatfield’s Highs they can hit every note on an 73 key piano. No other male singers can do that. Legendary. “You’ve Lost That Lovin’ Feelin” was the most played song on radio in the 20th Century. "Unchained Melody" - Bobby Hatfield Live 1965. Considered by most as The Greatest Live Male Vocal Performance In History... I agree. Bobby's use of "Runs" is brilliant. He is the master of the technique and started the trend. 7 notes just to say the word "I".... Their name came when they did a show in a smaller venue and a black man told them…. You two Brothers are Righteous. They created the sound and set the table that all Soul Music fed from for decades to come. In 1983, in Newport Beach O.C. Calif. Bill and Bobby at the Jolly Roger Restaurant . I was 13 feet away for... "Unchained Melody"- "You've Lost That Lovin’ Feelin‘" - "Soul And Inspiration".... They were perfect, awesome, amazing, incredible......

Fabulous reaction. Loved that you didn't stop it many times to talk. You facial reaction during the video said it all. Most people back in the day thought they were black only hearing them on the radio...and were "shocked" to learn they were white seeing them on TV. Blue Eyed Soul this was called. Playing in a black club in their early days before fame (very unusual at the time for whites) someone shouted : " That's righteous, brothers! " and that's how they got their name. 😊

There's alot of History with these Guys. They were performing in San Franciso on a Navy Base and the Sailors who were mostly Black and they said "That's Righteous Brothers!" and thus the name stuck. This Song is next to "Stairway To Heaven" by Led Zeppelin the most frequently played Song in the History of The Radio. This was part of Phil Spector's Wall Of Sound which was one of the very songs he worked on after The British Invasion, the other being "River Deep Mountain High". You may have seen "him" in "What's Love Got To Do With It". This Song was Written by Barry Mann & Cynthia Weil a Husband & Wife Songwriting Team who are Legends who got an Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. Also this Show that you're watching is Shindig a Popular Rock & Roll Show from the 1960's. The Three Black Ladies on The Right are The Blossoms who were the Backing Vocalists on The Show and the Fellows were The Wellingtons and the Ladies in The Background were The Dancers. The Lady in The Middle is Darlene Love who worked with everyone from Cher to Elvis Presley on his Comeback Special in 1968 If you can check out The Four Tops Singing Sugar Pie Honey Bunch. They also made History by being on the very first Cover of Tiger Beat which is now America's Longest Running Teen Magazine that debuted in 1965. Their Sister Magazine was Right On That Debuted In 1970. The Magazine was owned by Lloyd Thaxton who had his own Show that featured Ben E. King Singing Stand By Me. Glad You Enjoy it. I bought The Phil Spector Box Set in the 1980's and the Music on that CD are Masterpieces.

By the time I was old enough to develop any kind of taste I was sort of spoiled on music since there was so much great music at the time, we just took it for granted that there was lots of great music. This type of music was labeled Blue eyed soul. If you want more soulful duos, you will really like Daryl Hall and John Oates. They had hits since the 70's into the 90's and beyond. First hit in 1973 was She's Gone. In 1975 was Sara Smile. In 1976 was Rich Girl. In 1979 Wait For Me. They did a cover of this song in 1980 on their Voices album, which also included hits - You Make My Dreams and Kiss On My List. Starting in 1981 their Private Eyes album came out with the title song as a big hit, I Can't Go For That (No Can Do), Your Imagination, Did It In A Minute...Then in 1982 they released their H2O album with hits like Maneater, One On One, Family Man...In 1983 they released a few singles: Adult Education and Say It Isn't So. Then in 1984 - Possession Obsession, Method Of Modern Love, Out Of Touch and Somethings Are Better Left Unsaid. They made several more albums into the 1990's and did their own projects. In 2002 they recorded a single - Do For Love. They still tour and John Oates has put out a few solo albums in the last few years. Daryl Hall has had an award winning live stream show from his home (Live From Daryl's House) until about 2014. He now live streams from his restaurant, Daryl's House Restaurant Club & Live Music. Really interesting story about how they met, their careers and what they are doing now. They were also inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. My favorite singing duo of my lifetime - As you can tell. They're great.

Yup.. and I thought so too when I first heard this at 7yrs old. That was in 1977 and have been a fan since. Today's music isn't like this anymore. No passion. Hard to find talent like these two anymore. They sang with passion and made the audience feel it just like you did. Great reaction. More please!!

Blue Eyed Soul was actually coined by a Philadelphia Based DJ. If you want to hear some amazing Philly Blue Eyed Soul. Listen to Hall & Oates, or listen to Daryl Hall's Music in The Temptones that he was in during his College Years at Temple University. Then there's Len Barry (123), as well as Karen Young (Hot Shot). This Song holds the Record for being the most frequently played Song in North American Radio as well as Stairway To Heaven by Led Zeppelin. This was produced by Phil Spector who was the first acknowledged Record Producer in Pop Music. They got their name when they were performing at Navy Bases in San Francisco, Ca. and the audience who were primarily Black Sailors said "That's Righteous Brothers". Oh if you wan to hear some amazing Blue Eyed Soul from Across The Ocean check out Ruthanne, Duffy, Carmel (More More More), Sam Smith, Nadine Coyle (Formerly Of Girls Aloud), Natasha Bedingfield, Jessi J.

There is no such thing as "black music" and "white music." It's just music. That is part of why music is so beautiful. No stereotypes, just people.
