Note that, under "active low" logic, the same circuits described above still work, but with the sense of AND and OR reversed. (Consequence of De Morgan's laws).

Good standard explanation for DDL but in the past few years I have been creating all Boolean logic gates using Led's and CdS photo resistors so the gate is still DDL but also Inverts and the logic levels do not degrade. Light Logic

diagram on the right. (AND) att time 3:45 if no path to ground means that the diodes are open circuit but also if there is no current at all how there will be 5v at the output. Wouldn't the resistor act as it is not there or as no connection between the 5v and the output?

Hi, really nice example for diode logic. However, could you please name some tipical commonly used diode type ( I mean the specific part number and also weather they are schottky becouse of 0.3V drop only or the ordinary rectitier type with 0.7V drop ??? Tnx

In the last circuit what will be the current through the resistor if the Va, Vc , Vb are 5

I understand the role of diodes here, but what is the purpose of resistors in these logic gates?

i am not sure, but i assume that without the resistors there would be a problem. There is where the voltage drops from 5 to 0

The resistor fixes the maximum amount of current that the circuit will draw.
