Hi caffeinated bird friend! 🐦 Awesome build 👏 👌 Faxon rocks and I love seeing the iterations of this. Keep on keepin' on

I had to find a custom barrel since nobody has an off the shelf 12.5" pencil profile with a midlength gas system. About to pin and weld a suppressor to it, so that it ends up over 16" and I can use use a rifle lower on it rather than a braced pistol

Interesting video. I'm no expert on barrels, with the thinner barrel do you expect a shorter life? Less ability to handle higher weight ammo? What's the tradeoff for reducing the weight?
@SapperGentleman2 жыл бұрын
Biggest trade-off is thinner barrels heat up faster, theoretically changing POI quicker. I'm not planning on getting in any prolonged battles with ISIS or shit, though. 😁

@@SapperGentleman isn't it mostly near the chamber and the barrel before the gas port that heats up the most though? Faxon Gunners are, supposedly, government profile prior to the gas port and pencil ahead of it (the coolest part) From what I understand they can take quite a few mag dumps before they open up from being perhaps a 1-2 moa barrel to being a 2-4 moa barrel from heat, then return to their "normal" upon cooling. Like 3 or 4 full mags before that happens. If I'm dumping 3 or 4 mags, I'm not worried about MOA anymore anyways *shrugs*

@@SapperGentleman I need to see your hand motions on and around that muzzle device for comedic reasons. Also sure I’d love a bit of in-depth on the muzzle device
Why would you put a nox on a 14.5 when it was designed for a 13.7?you are way over 16... at that point just go with a 16inch with a xeno flash or keymo shorty. For a 14.5 I would go with a keymo from forward control design for an oal of 16.1.

Because Faxon doesn't make a Gunner barrel in 13.7
@MickCaleb Жыл бұрын
@@SapperGentleman they make a 13.9, and rosco, ba, and plenty others make a 13.7

man i got a 16" faxon gunner barrel and i realllllly wish i had got it in 14.5". after i built the 16" gunner upper i built a 14.5" ballistic advantage upper, but its more of a govt profile, and the gunner profile woul dbe perfect for a 14.5. I just went with a kak phantom FH on the 14.5 as i dont run suppressors

Are you worried about the upcoming ATF rule regarding pistol braces? I don't think it will stand up to legal scrutiny. I can see the FPC and GOA challenging any rule that comes out. Hopefully it backfires on the Biden administration and SBRs are somehow removed from the NFA. Fingers crossed.
@SapperGentleman2 жыл бұрын
If it doesn't stand then I have most of a pistol ready to rebuild. 😆 This project will make more sense when I get the rest of the parts in. 😉

@@SapperGentleman was this build a response to the pistol brace reclassification?
@clumsyoctopus56142 жыл бұрын
Man, I hope you're right. I'd love to have SBR's removed from the NFA, along with suppressors. I'm personally fine with leaving machine guns more heavily regulated, but SBR's requiring a tax stamp is just so arbitrary.

@@SapperGentleman I have a Faxon 14.5 Gunner "integral" because I can't have cans in my state. I figure what difference does it make to have a bird cage or a SOLGW Nox or whatever if no QD can gets to go on it? Some of the newer blast forwarders might convince me otherwise, eventually. But my PCC and Carry Optics CZ have my attention right now so that's a lower priority
@ericj66362 жыл бұрын
Don't you do a tax stamp and then your lower is the registered SBR and you can put whatever TF you want on it?
@SapperGentleman2 жыл бұрын
Correct. Like I said, I might do a stamp for a cool-ass retro shorty, but for this guy I'm being stubborn. 😁

@@SapperGentleman that sounds awesome! I was between a BA Hanson and Faxon Gunner for an 11.3/11.5 I think a mid length 11.5 is a little short of dwell time though, personally. So I'd probably lean BA for that one. You're going with a carry handle upper yeah?
