Thank you for the update! Your experience sounds like everything volunteers do, except for the vitals. But hey, you are getting paid this time.

My dream job is to be a nurse on the mother baby hall. I would also like to work on labor and delivery from time to time, as a nurse. I’m only a cna/ medical assistant right now. I’m trying to get a job as a pct and hopefully be able to work my way up when I’m able to get into nursing school.

Girlfriend, you are not an “only” anything! You are a CNA/Medical Assistant! Be proud of what you do and who you are. You can have goals and strive for advancement but don’t ever refer to yourself as an “only”!

Do you think it would be a good idea I volunteer first in baby unit so I could just get hired it that department if that makes sense . ?

I currently work in L&D as an ob tech it can be super boring at times. When I first started I felt the same way like ok what’s next to do. My 12hrs be dragging some days. C/S are the most action I see/ do. Granted it’s not like this everywhere but I’m at a small hospital so our nurses do everything themselves 🥴

I got an interview for a pct on labor and delivery on Wednesday. They told me over the phone we would be scrubbing in to assist with c sections and vaginal deliveries. Helping with handing the tools and stuff ?
@brileeb55273 жыл бұрын
@@NurseMoonshine they cancelled my interview, said the woman who was resigning decided to stay. Crushed my heart a little. But one day the opportunity will come for me 🥰

As a CNA how do you get into the Labor & Delivery department? Any tips in how to get transfered there or stationed there?

I’m currently an in home caregiver for elderly. Ive been considering getting my cna, but I don’t want to be stuck working in nursing homes with elderly. I’d love to be a cna/pcr for labor and delivery or the nick but I’ve heard those are hard units to get into?
@Kat-ne9ww3 жыл бұрын
dont be worried about being stuck in a nursing home! theres plenty of places where you can work as a cna: hospitals, private companies, home health, and yes nursing homes are one of them. when taking your cna, apply to different places you would be intersted in, because its always good to have experience. some places wont allow you to start out as a new cna, so the only thing you could do would be to start at a LTCF. dont be discouraged! ♡
@NossyDrelich2 жыл бұрын
Yeah as they said, apply to a few places. Some prefer experience but not required.

Do you go to a special class to work in labor and delivery?

How did you become a tech? What classes did you need? Thank you!

I am a male and getting hired as a CNA in perinatal at UCLA. Do you think being a male would be an issue?
@NossyDrelich2 жыл бұрын
Probably not with getting hired, I think some families may decline a male cna, don't take it personally but there will be others that couldn't care less, just be professional and a good sense of humour helps.
