About MLB.com:
Commissioner Allan H. (Bud) Selig announced on January 19, 2000, that the 30 Major League club owners voted unanimously to centralize all of Baseball's internet operations into an independent technology company. Major League Baseball Advanced Media (MLBAM) was formed and charged with developing, building and managing the most comprehensive baseball experience available on the internet. In August 2002, MLB.com streamed the first-ever live, full length MLB game when the Texas Rangers and New York Yankees faced off at Yankee Stadium. Since that time, millions of baseball fans around the world have subscribed to MLB.TV, the live video streaming product that airs every game in HD to nearly 400 different devices. MLB.com also provides an array of mobile apps for fans to choose from, including At Bat, the highest-grossing iOS sports app of all-time. MLB.com features a stable of club beat reporters and award-winning national columnists, the largest contingent of baseball reporters under one roof, who deliver over 100 original articles every day. MLB.com also offers extensive historical information and footage, online ticket sales, official baseball merchandise, authenticated memorabilia and collectibles and fantasy games.
Major League Baseball consists of 30 teams split between the American and National Leagues. The American League, originally founded in 1901, consists of the following teams: Baltimore Orioles; Boston Red Sox; Chicago White Sox; Cleveland Indians; Detroit Tigers; Houston Astros; Kansas City Royals; Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim; Minnesota Twins; New York Yankees; Oakland Athletics; Seattle Mariners; Tampa Bay Rays; Texas Rangers; and Toronto Blue Jays. The National League, originally founded in 1876, consists of the following teams: Arizona Diamondbacks; Atlanta Braves; Chicago Cubs; Cincinnati Reds; Colorado Rockies; Los Angeles Dodgers; Miami Marlins; Milwaukee Brewers; New York Mets; Philadelphia Phillies; Pittsburgh Pirates; San Diego Padres; San Francisco Giants; St. Louis Cardinals; and Washington Nationals.

Vin Scully talked to me as a child more than my father ever did. And I’m so lucky that I was able to thank him for this when I met him as an adult. A father figure. A hero. A legend. While I will always appreciate his modesty, Vin could never have needed me as much my heart needed his voice to beat along to.

Doesn't matter if you're 25 years old (my age) or 57 today my dads age and even before that we had an icon broadcasting to us there will never be a better. Just the full personality he was a historian. American history, cultures of baseball in the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Japan, China, Australia, any country and he had passion to bring back stories and do research into peoples life. Just heard of his passing just a few minutes ago. I didn't grow up a Dodgers fan but I still grew up with him. I will still hold his call on Game 6 of the 1986 World Series: "Little roller up along first.....BEHIND THE BAG! HERE COMES KNIGHT AND THE METS WIN IT!". And Game 1 of the 1988 World Series: "High fly ball into right field, SHE IIIIISS GOOOOOOONE!". And the football game that turned my entire household into 49ers fans for at least one day: "IT'S A MADHOUSE AT CANDLESTICK!" Godspeed, Mr. Scully! You were truly The Voice of Baseball.

Vin Scully has broadcast games for my grandfather, my father, and, finally, for me. He's responsible for three generations of baseball fans-one who listened intently to games from a cabinet-sized radio, one who fell asleep with a radio under his pillow, and, finally, one who'd watch Vin's simulcast games from his iPhone. Baseball is only great insofar as the fans can watch, listen, and appreciate it, and nobody has been as important to that end as Vin Scully. I've watched this video six times now, and I cry every time. He started broadcasting when my grandfather was twelve, and he retired when I was eighteen. That's one hell of a career.

If you grew up in LA, like I did, Vin is like a member of the family. Vin's voice was everywhere during the season, and was a constant in your life. We all grew up, LA changed a lot, some of us moved away but Vin (Thanks to technology) was still accessible. We have a Collegiate Summer League team here in the rural town I live in now, and during their games I would watch/listen to Dodger games on my tablet, it was amazing how many people would hear his voice and ask "Is that Vin Scully"? then share a memory of Vin calling a World Series game, an NBC game of the week, or like me share memories of listening to Vin on a transistor radio, either in the stands at Dodger Stadium, or with the radio under their pillow.

I will never forget the time I learned about and heard Vin Scully singing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” at Wrigley Field the year after Harry Carey passed away. We would play Little League games and then the background on the radios you could hear Vin Scully calling a game. That somehow made our little league games so much more realistic. This video has brought tears to my eyes, tears of joy and fond memories. Thank you Vin Sculley

It's nice how he passed today, when the Dodgers were at Giants stadium, just like his final sign off in 2016 at the same stadium. He will always be a legend. Rest in peace Vin, in the "Broadcasting Booth of Heaven.", with your lovely wife.

I can tell you when I wasn’t playing baseball on Saturdays as kid I was in front of the tv watching game of the week with Vin Scully and Joe Garagiola. Before the days of internet and the ability to watch every game every day, I had a weekly appointment to hang with Vin and Joe for three hours. It solidified my passion for the game. While I wasn’t good enough to make the big leagues, it was my childhood memories that helped shape my love for the game which has been passed on to my own son. Hats off to you Vin and thank you.

I grew up in Los Angeles listening to Vin Scully for nearly my entire life, sixty years. When he retired in 2016 I soon began to realize how privileged I was to hear him call Dodger games, the others are good but Vin Scully is the da Vinci of baseball broadcasters. Listening to his radio calls was like theater of the mind, he could bring you right down onto the field as if you were there watching the game in person. Nobody comes close to his gift of making the game come alive. I recall a day game years ago he was calling on radio, it was a real bright day and players were having a lot of trouble picking up the ball on pop-ups and fly balls. Later in the game after a number of dropped and misplaced balls Vin says “balls are dropping like rice at a wedding”, come on who says that. Also, something fans may not know or realize about Vin Scully is his incredibly deep knowledge of the game. I played baseball as a young boy and followed the game closely as an adult however, I learned more about the game of baseball listening to Vin Scully than from any coach, player, book, film or any other source about the game...he is immensely knowledgeable of the macro and micro aspects of baseball. He would often refer to the "game within the game", the time when a pitcher needs to watch and keep a runner on base and from advancing while also needing to make the pitches to get the batter out. Vin Scully educated and enlightened me about baseball to a level that causes me to appreciate the game today in ways that I don't think I could had it not been for him. Thank you Vin Scully, I am forever grateful for your contribution and love of the game of baseball.

I never heard him utter a syllable that didn't ring friendly, fair, and sincere. His delivery was so melodic and poetic it soothed like sitting on the beach at sunset. He would give every game detail you wanted to hear while simultaneously telling an interesting story and not distract from the game. If the game was on the radio, you felt like you were sitting next to him watching. He always knew what to say and when to say nothing at all. Thank You Vin, Thank You Scully Family for sharing him with us for so long. I hope you feel some comfort in the millions of us who thought he was our family too.

Even though it's been a year, I still cannot accept that he's not broadcasting games anymore. Every time I would watch or listen to a game the last year, I had to come onto KZfaq to hear him say "It's Time For Dodgers Baseball", and it always makes me tear up. I distinctly remember watching Dodger games with my grandma (Also a redhead, funnily enough) in the summer, and hearing those 5 words meant that not only was I getting to watch a great team, but I was gonna get to watch it with the woman who got me into baseball in the first place. So, even though Vin will most likely NEVER see this comment, I want to say thank you, Vin. You did put me to sleep many times, but never because you were boring. It was because of your calm, relaxed, and grandfather-esque voice. You made me laugh when I was feeling down with the little stories you told. You were always the best part of Dodger games, even with the little mistakes that you made later in your career. Even when they lost, I could still enjoy the game, because I always learned something. Even something as small as why a player picked a specific walk-up song, or what they do on their days off if they're a pitcher. So I want to say thank YOU, Vin, for being there for me, and for all of us who bleed Dodger blue, when we needed it. I pray that you and your family receive exactly what you said you hoped for all of us, and more. #ThankYouVin
