How in the world is this song racist?

It frustrates me when people argue about this song. I am half Asian and I have some Chinese in me, but I still enjoy this song.

I wonder if Jim Dear and Darling even know that Aunt Sarah was planning on bringing her cats and gave the OK for her to do so, or if Aunt Sarah just brought them anyway. I love Siamese cats, but these two were twin terrors, and poor Lady got blamed for trying to protect what was hers! Interesting how we never see them again in the film!

I used to feel physical pain watching this scene as a kid

I've never liked Aunt Sarah. She screams "crazy cat lady" with how she treated the dogs of the movie, and how she treated Lady in particular

Not criticizing or judging Jim Dear and Darling or anything, but they already had Lady. did they really need that bird and fish?

I rewatched this disturbingly catchy song over and over again when I was a kid

Si and Am are voiced by Peggy Lee who also voiced Darling and Peg in this film

Aunt Sarah had blamed Lady for chasing her cats Si and Am.

Thank god for the description. I was in a serious debate about a change of lyrics and a 1987 VHS tape click don’t lie. They took out lyrics and now I have proof again. Thank you 😂

I remember this song and these cats scared me as a child.

I loved this scene as a kid, but hadn't the slightest knowledge on what they were portraying here. XD Now watching it I'm like "ohhhh...oh no." XD

They animated the volume of the water receding as the cat crawled out of the fishbowl, the madlads.

I love cats (own two of them, myself), but you will have agree that was some clever quick acting at the end (I felt sorry for Lady).
