I've bought both '604' and 'Light and Magic' in the past month. They are both really good. Fave tracks from 604- 'Discotraxx', 'The Way That I Found You', 'Paco' and of course I already had heard 'Playgirl'. Light and Magic - 'Blue Jeans' is fab, 'Fire' is very much the sound I expect from Ladytron, 'Seventeen' I already knew and so too 'Evil' - probably my favourite Ladytron track.

Witching Hour is by far much more progressive than their earlier albums, but they are also very good. If you like Witching Hour, chances are you'll enjoy the others as well. I'm especially fond of Light and Magic.

I agree with you there. Too much old man, should've had an attractive live girl instead of paper representitives of the female race. But the track is so killer. Great blend of rock, electro and techno! Hard thing to pull off production wise. Check out the remixes. Solid Ewan Pearson tech house leaving the vocals intact. "When a menthol hit, hooks a spatial girl in her summer clothes"

It's not at all bland. Tracks like "High Rise", "Fighting in Built Up Areas" and "Beauty" show the growing dynamic of their sound. It's true that Ladytron has gotten a lot more mainstream attention since the release of Witching Hour, but to associate their rising popularity with the deterioriation of the quality of their music is not fair. Ladytron can be mainstream and still make great music as well.

I like this band and their style especially Helen's voice but I only own 'Witching Hour'. How good are the older albums I wonder??
@piwitron16 жыл бұрын
I think in this you are right, I appreciate their experimentalism with guitars mostly because at the end had good results, but I think they could had gone more into l'avant-garde, they got the potential, they shouldn't waste it on proper good records.. hopefully Velocifero, their new album sounds more structured

@NemesisAnother -This version is good, but it's kind of just a really old guy looking thru some cartoons and old books (with some great illustrations, i might add).. The US version shows the lead singer, Helen, in her full body / face glory.. so both versions are (i think) deserving of a viewing..

@NemesisAnother - But the song is the same in both versions of the video, isn't it?

haha that old guy did WAY too much acid! here's an idea, don't try to decipher 14th century texts when you're tripping and listening to ladytron...

@QuinnnniuQ No it is not fair, but. . . in a "just society, just people would appreciate their awesomeness and enjoy it and not covet it or obsess over it too much. And if everyone were equally awesome, then everyone would be mediocre and no one would be awesome ;-)
@QuinnnniuQ Well, simply the question of equality . Ladytron is as "excellent" as any real artist/band out there. Ermmm... whatever, nevermind. Suddenly realised that we as the people have nothing to judge, because how can we know evaluate the true value of anything? -_- Do you know all these people who listen to Ladytron and do you know what value Ladytron has for them? And then... all the others that listen to other bands and other messages?

I like this video, but not better than the American version. After all, I'd much rather watch Helen dance than watch this old guy on his acid trip.
@ayuda3115 жыл бұрын
interesting vid nonetheless, but the lyrics are very sexy and subversive. Video doesn't match up with the songs meaning

What mistery could it be, that the so-called US version sucks so much? I like the UK better.
