I'm a little late. However, the wife of The King is The Queen. That's the law, that's it, no recourse for the common man no matter how hated. This is why they were sooo adamant against Wallis. Sorry foy my bad english, but i think i know the answer. The "king consort" is not exist in the british monarchy, because, a king, have more power and position that a queen. If is a woman in the throne, Queen is the highest tittle, and her husband will be a prince consort. This queen is vanguardist, but, Victoria Queen, wanted the tittle of king for Prince Albert, and the british parlament, denied it.

Because he is not the son of the King, it is his wife that is why he is not a king. A woman can be Queen Consort, but a man cannot be King Consort!

The title of King is not at all above the title of Queen. Both have the same power and importance, depending on whether a man or woman has the right to the throne!
