Exactly. A lot of people simplify it as sharing love with multiple people but in reality, from the backdrops of religion, "spiritual/sexual freedom" and other historical periods, it can get complicated in terms hierarchy/power, emotional/sexual abuse and raising of children. Plenty of people in these "relationships" don't often have equal standing among members of a polygamous/polyandrous unit. There's plenty of examples in history and current times (just watch Sister Wives or similar shows) and you can tell there is always some long standing issues going on with someone in the household (while the patriarch, or in less cases matriarch, sits pretty through the whole thing.) I don't really care that it's shown in YJ. Hell, hopefully it's just there for shock value or to have a discussion on the topic but you're right in stating the glaring downsides of these kind of unions over a monogamous relationship.

But what I really hate is how fiction continually portrays polygamy as the simpler choice, like "oh, we both like the same person? Let's all three of us get married then! No way that causes any kind of unhealthy pecking order dynamic or anything", instead of acknowledging the insane number of issues that can arise from such an arrangement.

I’m not saying LGBTQ+ character can’t be in media. I’m saying they don’t need to exist in shows where the writers are incompetent or are simply writing these characters to check boxes off. And let’s face it that is all these characters are to Weismann. They are simply checks marks to appease the wokes & his ego (to the fan that argued with him on twitter saying he couldn’t write LGBTQ characters… you were absolutely correct). Let’s face it Halo is nothing but a huge “diversity” pull (i.e. putting all of the possible check marks onto a single character which DOES NOT WORK & IS NOT DIVERSITY). Lagaan is nothing but a failed character being given a woke card so no one can call out the BS. Kaldur is the one semi-well handled LGBTQ character & even then we should’ve been given a more gratifying story arc in S3 then his sexuality post events of S2 & the fee scattered remarks about the difficulty of leading the JL. Arcane is a brilliant example of how to write LGBTQ characters. This on the other hand is now a blinking neon sign warning writers that if you can’t write something don’t try to prove it because it just makes you look incompetent.

Fuck man, I wish they had just continued to stick with the OG team and maybe introduce a couple more characters and improve their relationships with each other. Them throwing in so many new things with no build up or explanation and compromising the writing and storytelling to do so was just depressing. The one long term thing they did mostly decently was Kaldur'ahm's whole and Artemis' too
